Blu Ox
США
Добавлен 7 окт 2020
Just having fun with our Blue 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. After I used the Gladiator to clear some trees from our property my girlfriend joked that I was like Paul Bunyan. I could not have done it without the Jeep and it's winch so I named the Jeep Bae the Blu Ox (I am sure that I am too old to use the "Bae" correctly but it was funny to me).

Girlfriend fires S&W .500 MAG for first time
Am I the only one whose wires were too short? I have to extend the wiring to make it long enough to install.
My kit had enough wiring without needing to extend it, I wonder if they have made some changes. Thanks for watching!
This is a great video. I really appreciate your content.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
What tires were your running?
They are Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 37X13.50 on 17 inch wheels. They are my second set and have worked really well for me. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for putting together this video. I have 5 of the Flat Pack Storage Boxes that I carry in my Jeep. I'm still trying to get organized. I want to see if you've thought about using the STORAGE BOX FOAM DIVIDERS? I know the dividers are slightly taller than the Flat Box.
Organization is always a goal for me and I don't think I will ever be completely satisfied. I do not use the dividers because most of the stuff in my storage boxes is large enough to make them unusable. If I was storing a lot of smaller things they would probably help find stuff a lot easier. Good luck on your organizing efforts and thanks for watching!
Im trying to get the top nut off but its just spins. I noticed you used a box wrench in the back . However doesnt have a nut behind it? It just spins
The stock hardware is a completely round nut that is attached to the bracket. Once the nut breaks free of the bracket it will just spin. When I originally replaced the nut I used a lock nut plier on it and then replaced it with a standard nut. Good luck and thanks for watching!
I just got my Gazelle tent, I like the tight mesh to keep the skeeters out, air flow seems fine. Gonna wait till fall to go camping its a little too hot right now in Las Vegas. Thanks for the fan info, ordering one now. Great video.
I am not big on summer camping myself, fall thru spring is my thing. Thanks for watching!
Canadian Military 101 "snow on the floor " lol we were never allowed to stay on cot if it was freezing. I was always told it was because of air around the cot
I always thought the same thing but with this well insulated sleeping pad it is very comfortable. Keep in mind that I have not had a chance to use this system in temps lower than 14 degrees but I will post an update if I do. Thanks for watching!
@bluox i just bought the t4. I was thinking of buying some disco beds. Do you think they will fit well?
@@TheHenryway What size of disco bed are you looking at, I see a number of different ones. My Timberridge is 74.41 x 25.59 and that is as big as I would want to go. Enjoy your T4, I love mine, and thanks for watching!
You can use some old towels and cut them to size. Thats the trick to a quiet stove.
I actually got some foam sheets from an Amazon package that work really well. Thanks for watching!
First let me say , there is NO WAY !! I'd live with or be ok with the tire denting my brand new JT !!! I'd absolutely be contacting the company and demanding it repaired since the product malfunctioned ans caused the damage... but to each there on I guess lol. Second I appreciate the video/ insight of the tire carrier !!! Thirdly I'd really like to know about some other product choices you've gone with such as the rock rails/step & I noticed the blue tailgate addition , something you've made or purchased ? And from who ? Thanks !!! She looks good !!!! I'm gonna check out your other videos!!
Thanks for watching! Some of my other videos cover a lot of those other items but the tailgate cover is from mountainhatch.org/ and I love it. There are a lot of other options now a days but this is a really good one. The rock rails are the Rock Slide Engineering with the extra skid plates and I love those two. I have banged them up pretty good and they continue to work very well. Hit me up if you need any additional info.
Blu Ox, I've had my Swing-Out bumper for about 1.5 years now. I want to disassemble the swing-out carrier/arm and regrease the bearings. Have you done this yet? If so, how in the heck do you get it off.
I have not done that, mine is working fine and I just don't feel like messing with it. I thought about it and I have a big channel lock plier that fits and I think I would try wrapping the cap in duct tape and then use the pliers on it. Let me know how it goes for you as I am curios. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox I think that was my issue. I could unscrew the cap with my hands. It's not my daily driver and stays in the garage most months. Last fall I performed ALOT of leaf removal (over 1000 lbs easy). I think the dirt from packing/transporting/dumping the leaves at a local dump left alot of room for tiny particles to make their way down the arm. The arm began to bind. Anywho, I took it to a shop this morning and they said it just looks like the bearings need to be regreased so they used a marine grease spray and then a crimson valvoline grease. They said, if after a couple weeks there isn't any improvement then they would remove the arm for me so I can give it a deep clean.
@@YellowToucan Hope that works, thank you for sharing. This might help someone else in the same situation.
Best tail lights out there period in my personal opinion. How Jeep should have made them in the 1 place.
I agree. I hear about folks in the forums talking about reliability issues but I was on the original wait list for these and have been running them hard off-road with no issues. Thanks for watching!
Good video, thanks! Hey, did you get your tent holders from American Adventure Lab. Do you think they would fit in the T-Slots of a Rhino Pioneer platform rack? Again, thanks for sharing the info on your T4.
Thank you. Yes, the Sleeper Keepers are from American Adventure Lab and you will have the same problem that I had (slightly different) but I think you could make it work. The supplied hardware will not work to secure them to your rack because the bolt head will be too small and will not engage inside the T-Slot. You will need to find a bolt that is not too long that has a head that will work and if its diameter is too large you may have to drill out the Sleeper Keepers mounting holes. Thanks for watching!
I use a magnet to keep the wind screens from rattlings. Just get a magnet large enough where both screens will attach to magnet. The magnet will stick to the cover and you just leave it in place on the lid while using stove, won't get lost.
Great suggestion, thanks for watching!
What is the Tunnel cover are you using?
Are you referring to the bed cover, it is the Access Literider Roll-Up Cover and I picked it up on Rebel Off-Road as it is compatible with the bed rack. I do not use it much but it comes in handy sometimes. Note that the fridge will not fit underneath of it. Thanks for watching!
Is that supposed to be "Babe", Paul Bunyan's ox ?
Yes, but our kids always say "BAE" instead and it seemed like a good dad joke. We were off-roading and had a tree down across the path and I used my chainsaw to remove it. They said I looked like Paul Bunyan and since the Gladiator is blue, it is now called the blue ox. Thanks for watching!
I use two Amazon envelopes to take care of the rattle. They're plastic coated with a thin layer of bubble wrap inside. They work great! Slip one over each "wing" and fold it shut. We get them all the time, so when they get dirty, I just replace them.
That would work very well, thanks for watching!
What size tire are you running? Nice clean great video!
Thanks! The tires are 37X13.50. Thanks for watching!
Why not just use a smaller drill bit and drill through the gromet rather than cut it?
either way works, thanks for watching!
Well done - even with a bum arm! One of the best install videos I have seen - ever. Appreciate the detail and not just skim over it. Also - thanks for not totally ruining your tutorial by playing horrible, discordant, loud, music over your dialog. Come on KC - only have five different tools just to install a simple bracket and adjust the light. Did you consider adding a sixth tool to remove the bezel? Why use one tool when two would also work?
Appreciate it and thanks for watching!
Ty for the video and I hope you feel better
I appreciate that and thanks for watching!
The CJ and 2dr JK did pretty well on the.middle path of Dickie Bell, these are the least lifted vehicles I’ve ever seen go up that line.
Both did really well and had experienced drivers, both are running 35" tires.
How much lift and what size tires do you have on your JT.?
I am running a 3.5" lift with 37" tires. Thanks for watching!
you still running this rear bumper ? still like it ?
I am and I do. Nothing is perfect but bumper works really well for me. Check out my update video on it: ruclips.net/video/wiUfJay436w/видео.html Thanks for watching!

Thank you and thanks for watching!
Yeah, for $53.00, I'll pass. That's ridiculous for a stamped sheet metal grill that will probably end up warping and getting bent and not go together properly or won't stay together once some heat is applied. I'll stick with my box stove with a grill grate set on top. You have fun with that tho. If you like it, more power to you.
We will see how it holds up over time but so far it works OK. What box stove are you using? Thanks for watching!
That’s not stamped. It’s either CNC plasma or router cut.
Can you add a link to the hose adapter ….. exactly what I’m looking for . Thanks
The one I used is no longer available but this is the same thing: Regulator and extension hose: amzn.to/43SMJxi i love this setup and hope it works for you. Thanks for watching!
Looking for something like this but without the a rear bumper winch as well.
I assume that you meant "with" a rear bumper winch, as this bumper does not have one. I have not seen too many rear bumpers with a winch mount capability and none with a dual swing but good luck with your search. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox yes, I meant with. I thought you forgot me. lol
How did your trip to Moab go? Did the 37" spare on the swing out hang up on anything? How are the latches holding up?
Did not make it to Moab yet but we have done Rausch Creek, Uwharrie and a bunch of local Virginia trails and never had a problem. The latches and holding up great and just require a little tuning occasionally. The latches that keep the swings from opening too far don't catch very well and I have a small dent where the tire swung into the bed body and I am looking into ways to prevent that in the future. All in all I am very happy with the setup after two years. Thanks for watching!
I have a gazelle T4 that I fit inside my Jeep TJ. I put it in diagonal or I can strap it to a rack above my spare tire. I absolutely love it. The only draw back is it is heavy and a little cumbersome to fold up and put in the bag.
Agreed, and using it for over a year now I have gotten used to those things and they are only minor issues considering all the good. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this. Gonna try to knock it out tonight. I also but some vehicle door trim that I'm going to place around the edge to close it completely.
Let me know how the trim piece works for you. Thanks for watching!
Why not measure the posts then use a sharp drill carefully poking the cup ?
You could try that but all you need to do is remove the very tip of the cup so that the rod will poke through and hold tightly on the sides for stability. Thanks for watching!
I can't remember if I saw you that weekend, but I was out with a group that same weekend, I was in the red early bronco (1970), also camped at Arrowhead. We also did dickey bell in the rain, it was interesting but got everyone up and back down it and back side of daniel. Always a good time at uwharrie!
I remember seeing your rig at the campground but I do not think we came across your group on the trail. We really enjoyed our first trip to Uwharrie and will definitely do it again! Thanks for watching!
As others have ponted out, there is a strap that you put on before you put the t4 in the bag that makes it easy to handle
I found a strap that works but, to be honest, I have gotten so good at dealing with it that I don't use the strap at all. Thanks for watching!
Finally Ordered mine! Appreciate the review videos! Hoping to do an install video. Have you considered adding a third bake light or one of those LED brake lights like the JL? I’m concerned about someone possibly rear-ending me. Was also contemplating a rear light bar for brake and turn signals under my tent…thoughts?
Congrats on your purchase, I think you will like it. I wanted to do an install video but I installed it by myself at home and it was just too much, comment here when you have yours up and I will check it out. Check out my rear visibility video ruclips.net/video/FS3Jl8Odlj8/видео.html I did a third brake light in the wheel and also did a video rear view mirror to help me see and be seen. I have considered putting a stop and blinker light on the top of the rack but have not pulled the trigger yet. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox will do!
I know what I am gonna try on my next trip!
It was really cool having Lasagna while camping! Thanks for watching!
Loved your video. Definitely helped me in my stove decision. Thank you!
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!
a iwantani stove does literally the same thing, its super compact and its just one unit itself without having lug around a bulky gas canister.u can literally fit it into a small 20l backpack.. and is available in almost every supermarket for $40....the $60 version outputs about 15,000 btus....
Really apples to oranges, but if it works for you that is fantastic. I have two of those butane stoves and they have their place but I rarely use them. I have specific backpacking stoves that are lighter weight and just as effective but for car camping those things are not as important. The temperature control and wind shield are very important features and the propane works much better for cold temperatures, which is my normal use case. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox oh pls other than the fact that stove "uses" propane, it looks like its designed by people who have never been in a kitchen, like it came from a toys r us baby's first kitchen or something next to the play doh and lego construction aisle....iwantani on the other hand, besides the more basic $40 everyday use design has more professional ones like the 35f and the kazemaru that looks professional as hell like i can open up my michelin star izakaya or stir fry restaurant right in the middle of lake minnetonka or something....the flame guard looks like its designed by somebody who understands the wind physics of cooking, just the perfect height, double layered, with bore holes on the outside because a good flame doesnt mean a high wind shield to suffocate it, u need that good airflow for that roaring flame for the gong bao ji ding or a nice flambe, or stir frying ur thai chicken wings on a huge flame before dousing it in ice water for that nice crisp and firmness.... not to mention ur camp chest everest 2x 90s commercial sounding stove is probably over priced as hell.....like most american designed stuff and why do u need a propane stove anyway?to cook ur itty bitty little gumbo? its not like ur opening ur mexican fajitas restaurant in the middle of the woods or flipping a giant wok with 2kg of fried rice in it.
Glad you found a stove that works for you!

Nice vid. I put a Voodoo rack on my Gladiator. Have you noticed stability issues while you're loaded (on top of the rack) both on/off road? I felt like I was a little wobbly at interstate speeds....It was weird. Looking forward to your thoughts.
I have not had that problem either loaded or unloaded, when I camp I usually have a full bed of gear and a good bit of it strapped to the top of the rack. Are you running the steel or aluminum rack? Roof top tent? What shocks and springs? Thanks for watching!
I'm running a steel rack. No tent (yet) just gear. Factory Fox shocks and springs on a 2020 gladiator Rubi.
I had upgraded springs and shocks on my rig before I added the rack (also steel) so that could be the difference maker.

At 4:20 you said the stove will run 800 to 4000btu... @@bluox

Glad you enjoyed the video, I think you will really like that setup! The exact regulator and hose that I purchased is no longer available but this one: amzn.to/43SMJxi is the same basic setup. Please come back and comment on how it works for you as I always enjoy getting other folks feedback. Thanks for watching!
Couldn't you just shorten the post on the lights instead?
I guess you could but it is easier to cut the rubber cup then it would be to trim the aluminum post and it accomplishes the same thing. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video👍 this helps me a lot, I’ve been staring at the wiring harness for days, and could not figure out if I’m supposed to wire that to red positive individually to each switch but it looks like you connect both red positive together on the KC harness and then wire those two on to One switch OEM wire? Then the white wire I’m assuming is a positive wire which gets connected individually? Is there a reason both red wires get connected together, is that how KC designed it? Or did they design it so the red wires were individual so the upper and lower lights are separate? If that makes any sense but I will copy what you did this helps a lot thank you!!!!
I am glad it helped. The two red wires are both just tied into a high amp aux switch lead together and since I cut the white wire after the splice I just connect the single wire for the backlighting to another lower amp aux switch so I can manually control the backlight. Each of the red wires is primary power for each light, which is why you tie them together. there are two white wires tied together and they are just for the backlighting. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching!
@@bluox thank you!!!!!!!
So 2 reds to aux switch, 1 white to low power aux switch then black to ground and that’s it right?
Hi can u let me know the lowest point mounted on bumper carrier how many inches does jack go over roof? I wanna make sure I can get into my garage with this set up. Thanks
The bottom of my jack tray is currently sitting at 39 inches off the ground but it could be lowered another 2 inches. At 39 inches with my 48 inch high lift the top of the jack is at 87 inches. Thanks for watching!
I should have added that those heights are with a 3.5" lift and 37" tires.
@@bluox is it even with roof or goes over roof? Or below roof. I'm getting this bumper tire set up. But Not sure if jack is to high to get in my garage. I got a 2 inch Terra flex level kit and 35s
My roof is at 80 inches with my lift and tires and the jack extends 7" beyond that. If I put the mounting plate all the way down the jack would be at 85". With your lift and tires your roof would be about 76 inches and the jack would be at 81" when mounted at the lowest point.
@@bluox so jack is going about 4 inches above roof? I don't think I'm gonna be able to get in my garage with jack. I'm surprised there isn't a smaller jack I can mount to this
How would you rate the trails compared to Union Springs to Flagpole? I assume Daniel is harder, but Dickey and the others?
I would say that Daniel is far more difficult but Dickey Bell and the Dutch John trails are more difficult and more enjoyable. The rest of the trails are similar to Union Springs. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox Is there any chance you could make a numbered list of the trails from easiest to hardest? I mainly ask because me and my fiance went to uwharrie spontaneously on a 700cc adv bike (doubled up), the first trail we tried was entering the rocky mountain loop from near the duch John trailhead where the trail crosses Dutch John road, we faced some fun hills and turns for a minute, then we did a very rocky hill climb and figured we should turn around in case we get in over our heads, but we would love to try some easier trails (also, the rules were a bit vague on if we were allowed to ride double on a bike, my bike is plated and designed for passenger, some signs said that double on bikes is against the rules, and some said "no passengers unless vehicle is designed for it")
It is difficult for me to gauge difficulty for a two passenger bike but I would say that the new Lake View Trail (60) would be an excellent trail for you. We did not go on that but I have seen multiple videos on it and it seems to be a scenic ride with some hills and of course any rain changes everything. Wolf Den (89) is the only trail marked as easy but Slab Pile (79), Rocky Mtn Loop (92), Sawmill (93), and Falls Dam (96) are marked as moderate and should be good trails for your purpose. Daniel (390), Kickey Bell (91) and Duty John (90) are listed as not recommended for ATV, UTV, Dirt Bike, or beginners. Thanks for watching!
@@bluox That's more info than what I had before stopping by there haha, so, much appreciated brother. For further context, I have a decent history of offroad riding, and have done so with passengers, but my fiance scares easily at the feeling of instability when rocks shift and such, a feeling that someone like us understands is just part of the experience. She got scared and I didn't want her panicking and shifting her weight in an unfavorable manner. She has no history of off-road riding, but plenty street riding, so I'm showing her a whole new world basically.
@@td7122 That makes perfect sense. Did you stop by the Outpost and pick up one of the free paper maps? It makes it a little easier to plan a route.
