The Revolution around the Regulators
As we observe in 2021 the 250th anniversary of the War of the Regulation in North Carolina, learn how the American Revolution unfolded in North Carolina and about some of the places you can visit to "touch history where it happened" as a cascade of 250th anniversaries of our founding history roles across our collective calendar for the next two decades. Reflect on the founding of the United States--from Cumberland Gap to the Constitution--in this fourth of a series of videos from BecomingAmerica250.com. Created and produced by Randell Jones, author of "Before They Were Heroes at Kings Mountain" and "In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone" among other books about the pioneer era, the American Re...

In 2015, Curtis Penix and Givan Fox walked from Kingsport, TN, to Fort Boonesborough, KY, during 16 days, following the route blazed by Daniel Boone in 1775 and followed by Curtis's pioneer ancestor in 1779. Dr. John Fox, president of Friends of Boone Trace, researched the historic route through five gaps in the mountainous geography.

Mr. Jones: I just wanted to let you know that I finally had time to view the video. I have seen a few of these and by far this one is the very best accounting of the battle of Kings Mountain. As I recall, the video they show at Kings Mountain says little if anything about Col. Campbell. I thought your version was well balanced and provided a level of detail allowing for the appreciation of really what was involved leading up to and during the battle. As I said...it is excellent! Thank you for sharing and for making the effort to put such a quality presentation together. I will make certain my family views this so they can put into proper perspective "John Broddy's" unique role. Arthur Broady

Wow, Mr Jones, this is really well done. You've got some great pictures to illustrate your story. This took me back to school days when we would get excited that we'd be watching a movie instead of having to listen to the teacher. Unfortunately, most of those movies were "gagmewithaspoon" dull. Wish we'd had your talent back then!

I was in attendance at the Charlotte Museum of History last weekend on Sat and attended Randell Jones' presentation on this topic and found it very exciting. In addition to the Overmountain Men we have all heard about, he presented new ties to the rest of the Piedmont, to include present day Iredell Co & the well known fords along the Catawba river. Got a link to this video; which is a good recap- I plan to send this to my history loving friends.

I just watched the video “The American Spirit, 1780”. I was only going to watch some of it, but got involved and watched it all. It is very good I commend you for the work you did in making this video. I sent it to my children so they could watch. Once again thanks Roger Dixon SAR member.
