I heard that tomateos plants need more than one plant so they can produce. I planted a few plants 2 years ago. The season was over and I forgot about them. This year I have twice as many plants and twice as many tomateos 😬

8:00 Americans :) Red means ripe, I prefer all kinds of peppers to be red (with 1 exception) and lemons yellow (because they tend to have more nutritional value, vitamins, perhaps at the expense of the strong taste). I don't grow hot peppers because I grew once once and I think I didn't use the few I grew because I'm a garlic person. And I buy pre-mixed hot spices. But I can see you using them if you like cooking, canning and suchlike. I only like eating :)

10:43 Idea - ask your husband to do a double dig where you plan to plant tomatoes (next year, not necessarily in a raised bed, will do in regular soil), they really benefit from being able to grow their roots deep enough, and while at it - if you have ashes add some into the soil while double-digging because tomatoes also like it (other plants might not, because ashes make the soil a little more alkaline), though it's not strictly necessary. When double-digging, if you have weeds on top, put he top layer (with the weeds) to the bottom (2nd foot) upside down, this way they'll rot in place and make the soil a little better (and harder to compact). It's a win-win, but it's a little bit of work. Gardening is all about trial and error :)

8:49 Honeyberries don't need acidic soil and are more resistant to intense sun, they taste as good as blueberries and health-wise are as good or better. I just don't know if they grow in your area, they should.. My blueberries also died, but the honeyberries survived. They also yield fruit a lot earlier (in Spring), so imho it's just a superior plant to blueberries..
