I'm hearing Spokane has hired a coach and an announcement will be made no later than July 10th. I think it's Halpern but nobody has confirmed that. I wouldn't be shocked if they make an announcement at the draft party.

One thing we gotta remember in this league, everyone is temporary... the players age out and the coaches come in for short stints. I've only been a fan since I moved here about 6 years ago and I look at this league as a prep league for the future of the refs, players and coaches... I wish Smitty well and I hope we get a coach that can motivate our players to the next level.

There's a rumor that Tampa Bay Lightning assistant Jeff Halpern may be the front-runner. The theory is Spokane wants to be a contender this year with Catton likely not returning to the team after this season. Halpern would coach here for two seasons to prove he is a viable NHL HC.

Such a sad moment. Smitty worked his butt off for this squad, just like donny did. It was good seeing them do good for this organization these past 2 years. Can't wait for next season, and who we get as a new coach.
