Was the jamming a common problem with these I don't want to call it a failed design but a design that didn't catch on I don't know much about this machine gun other than that
The gun suffered many issues during WW1 the cut away in the magazines let mud and dust and sand get inside resulting in the gun jamming the magazines where extremely fragile dropping them or hitting them by accident would leave a dent resulting in even more chances of the gun jamming and despite its low rate of fire it also suffered with heating issues I could go on but its often considered the worst LMG of the first world war especially when you compare it to stuff like the Lewis gun the BAR and Madsen that was also around during the time period. Its a shame to the Americans had to deal with their even worse version of the Chauchat most of them were thrown out before even leaving the factory due to how poor quality they were and the gun had even more problems because it was forced to take a ammo it wasn’t designed to use American troops weren’t properly trained on how to use foreign weapons at the time ether or even given proper cleaning kits for many of their Chauchats so they got the worst of it. Its even more unfortunate once you learn original the Americans where going to use the Lewis gun over it but the original designer of the gun and a politician got in a heated argument about it so it never happened.

The reason why modern chauchat jam so much : After ww2 almost all chauchat were disactivated and most of them were re-activated in the 70-80s by some not really professional gun industry that pretty much f*cked up the reputation of a gun that worked before the modifications. In ww1 this gun was known to have a 300 round before jamming because of the heat and the aluminum expanding faster than steel but by just letting it sit down it just fixed itself. If it was so bad, why did some SS did use it in ww2 ? Why did the American army adopted it instead of the masden ? Why 1,2 ~ millions were made ?
Because they're dumb. That's why they adopted it.

@@justinayers9245 well if you've already spotted a target you don't really need depth perception peripheral vision would be a better argument for keeping both eyes open, which is why most armies are trained as such, but for target shooting(like he's doing in the video), one eye gives you the advantage of better precision by virtue of less things for your focus to wander to

It’s 2 of them mounted together like the glockinator video, and those appear to be the 275 round mags the 180 round mags are typically metal. Buddy sent 550 rounds down range in this video
1. thats because its 2 guns attached to eachother 2. dual mags arent uncommon for single barrel weapons if this was one 2. it has 160 to 275 rounds, this is the 275 round mag because its clear and made out of plastic

Would switching to a flexible long stroke gas piston make the M60E6 more reliable? PWS makes a similar setup for the AR-15 and it works pretty well and has surprisingly low recoil. M60E7 with flexible long stroke gas piston.
