I can not begin to express how important this podcast is for me as I navigate learning. Mahalo!

I’m changed because of this episode. I was born in Tennessee and had never even been to the Islands until 2022. I am a mix of many places around the world and because of that have never honored my Hawaiian heritage. My mother and her father and then as far back as we have found our ancestors are Native Hawaiian. After attending our Ohana reunion in 22 I felt the call to embrace this important part of me. Fearing appropriation, and not being “enough” Hawaiian, I have not known what to do or how to navigate honoring and embracing my ancestors or even acknowledging who I am! This episode was incredibly important to me. I don’t have it all figured out. I don’t know how to “label” myself but I know the call that I experienced while on the Island and ever since is real and I must keep exploring what that means. I have booked a trip to Kona this summer to attend the lauhala festival. Im trying to learn the language… etc. listening to your podcast will be a big part of my journey as well. So from North Carolina, I say mahalo, mahalo, mahalo!

I'm not sure what's still going on Maui in connection to the fires but I really hope that everyone who lost their homes don't let the government force them off their land. It's hard to know what's really going on there in Maui.

This guy is not from Maui, yet the publisher of this video is asserting that he is an authority on what happens in Maui. He and the publisher of this video are ultracrepidarians. I live on Maui. I have been active in my community here since 2004. Maui needs to conduct business. The west side of Maui needs to conduct business. How are the businesses on the west side going to have economic stimulation without tourist spending their money at those west side businesses? They can't. This guy needs to STFU.
