    Hi! First of all love the bridge you build! I just made it for my city so I can walk better between my different tables. I was wondering if you think it's ok if I make some instructions for it? I'll use the first page to let everybody know this was you idee. Second I am planning on making them free on Rebrickable.If you are ok with this please let me know, also if you are not ok with it.

      @Woudenbrick , Hi! Thank you for the kind words, and I'm glad that it works so well for you! And yes! You can definitely make some instructions and post them on rebrickable! I'm honored that you would be willing to do that and give me credit for them! I would have done it, but I'm not that great on the Lego software! Lol. I'm looking forward to seeing them on Rebrickable!!!

    If you want to do it, you can change the polarity for the motors. That way you can ditch the polarity switch.

    The metal axle trucks are much better than the newer plastic ones. If you look carefully, you'll see that the wheels are not fixed to the axle and can run independently! In the 4.5v/12v era this was not the case and the curves would have ribs on the outside track, but a smooth inside track to drag along the inner wheel... For a train motor it's different, stress all 'round on the 24 stud curves ;)

    I'm guessing that the Big Boy has a non-LEGO motor from a third-party manufacturer?

    • @thecraneandtrainguy
      @thecraneandtrainguy Год назад

      I'm not sure for this particular Big Boy. However, some of my trains that I run have a mixture of Lego and third-party motors. It all depended on when they were made. Going forward, definitely third-party PF motors.

    One thing that might help to reduce friction is to power only one axle. The connecting rods will transfer motion to the other wheels just fine. That is the purpose of them on the real locomotive.

    The statewide mainline network where I am from is 1067mm narrow gauge, which would equate to a 3 stud gap between the rails, if that was a thing in LEGO. So carriage and loco bodies overhanging the track has always been a part of life. The overhang is even more extreme with our 2’ sugar cane tram network (around 3000km of mainline) with regauged narrow gauge shunters looking a little absurd and fantastic. Thanks to Trixbrix parts, I was able to build a narrow gauge tramway (7 wide cars & locos including greebling) cars for my amusement park. I bought the Disney Train a while ago which just looks right at 8 wide and more recently purchased the 7740 intercity passenger train, a great looking train at six wide though a bit boxy, but I plan to rebuild it as 8 wide to run on my R72 TrixBrix curves.

    How are you powering this? Is there a motor in the locomotive or is it train motors driving the tender? How about the control and sound system - DCC or Lego PUP or PF or SBrick? Looks just like the Tony Sava model I built and posted videos of here several years ago.

    I love your storage system. It also allows for individual project parts storage (I just use printer paper box lids.) The Lego six wide trains have a cuteness factor to them, but I prefer the 8 wide. The 10 wide may be expensive but it would allow for a person to have DOD flat cars for military vehicles since the tanks are 12 wide.

    that crane is nice, good idea making the counterweights customizable. and as for the steam locomotive MOC, I think a 2-8-4 or a 4-8-0 would be great options for your next MOC. like the Frisco 1522 or other locomotives like it in its class. but for the meantime, showing the big boy is something I would love to see.
