Visited the battlefields last winter with a friend, and yes, these pictures here are definitely from Verdun... The landscape, the trees... It still resembles nowadays, but with more woods again... We found many things, just washed up by the rain. We did no digging or treasure-hunting, but we found nearly everything: Grenades, shells, bullets, bottles, bullet-pockets, german and french buckles, a lot of shrapnel... and all of this after more than 100 years! All the trenches still there, all the craters... We hiked along the battlefield using old military maps of the trenches, you still can follow these cards and find all the entrenchments exactly where they are located on these maps!

My great uncle(b.1898 Normandy,France🇨🇵)died at18 in1916WWI as a soldier gassed to death by the ennemy in a muddy trench(Battle of Verdun). French military didnt know precise trench location as it was in a vast area. His remains were NEVER found. My grandmother who was his younger sister still hoped he would "come back home". No remains...no closure💔💔🌹🌹🕯🕯😥😥😥✝️😭🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing this video with us...although it doesn't lessen the pain it at least helps me understand what my ancestor went through) Suzy
