Great quality build and I like the customization. Good to see you putting your laser to work and helps me think of other ideas with mine. Free plans is also awesome of you to offer for others. 👍. I forgot to ask, your new mic sounds good, what did you end up going with?
Thanks 😊 the mic is the Rode Wireless ll, it’s pretty easy to use and holds battery pretty decently as well. Would recommend for sure.
Second time watching this video and it's still a great project. Thanks for sharing
Thanks again! 3rd times a charm;)
Love the content of this channel. Your respect for the tools almost puts you in awkward positions though.
Thanks for following along :)
Hummingbirds mostly but any bird that would use them? I'm in Greenville, Texas
Hummingbirds would be awesome :)
Thank you for using both metric and imperial measurements.
You’re welcome 😊 are you team metric or imperial? Personally metric is my go to but it is tricky to use exclusively where I am (Canada) as so many measurements are listed in imperial (wood sizes, bit sizes, etc). I found I had to…. Reluctantly… learn both 😂
I'm team imperial all the way. I do understand what you mean by having to learn a new system Lol.
Have u ever had an issue with the glue not holding? Every video I’ve seen does glue + brad nails (although I know the glue is the strength). Just curious. 😊
I’ve never personally had any issues with just glue, as long as there is enough glue, cured in the right temperate you should be more then fine, I think the biggest glue potential issue is that the ‘end join’ will absorb a lot of glue so if you don’t clamp it right away it may have soaked into the wood pores already. A trick to this is to add a little glue on the ends, and allow it to dry, then add another layer of glue and clamp right away, this will essentially block the pores of the wood so that the glue holds the bond as it should versus soaking in 😀
@@standishwoodstory thank you!!
Such a beautiful project. I really like the maple inlay. I would use this box for my cufflinks, tie clips and watch bands. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel!
Fine ting du laver❤️

If you are ok with listening to an older book...how about "A Brave New World" by Huxley?
Hmmm...that is on my bucket list. I may have to bump it to the top of my list:)
Definitely a good ol' Walmart box of red😊 Thanks for the inspiration🍷
I like the cut of your jib. Quantity over Quality;)
Great Video😉
Thanks 😁
I love these!
Thanks 😊
We going back to 6th grade shop class with this one 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This one is super easy and I know your shop class will love it🎃🎃🎃
Just had a thought...I would love to sponsor the next gen of woodworkers. If you send me an email to info@standishwoodstory.com email, I will send you the .pdf building plans for free. You could then print them out or walk through the project step by step with your students. Let me know!
Funny - I’m also looking to add a scroll saw to my shop. While there do seem to be some decent smaller ones, everything I’ve read says go with the DeWalt DW788 (20 inch) and you won’t regret it. It sounds like the best bang for the buck. They go for about $599 USD new so I’d love to find a used one locally if possible, just to save some money. It would be handy but not something I will use all the time.
It seems to be the favourite for sure and I’m learning so much about it from users, sounds like it has some really cool features.
What fun projects, Winnie! I especially love the turkey - as will my family. Can’t wait to make one. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏼 🦃 🎃
My pleasure, have fun building :)
Nicely done Winnie....A couple great ideas, thanks so much!!
You are so welcome! Have fun building :)
20” Dewalt. I have had one for over 20 years. Still going strong.
Wow that is a review that says a lot! 20 years. Thanks for sharing, I think I’ll be making a purchase soon 😄😄😄
Thanksgiving -- my favorite holiday!! Although I am thankful daily for how blessed I am, there is something special about Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving Cliff, we are celebrating 🇨🇦 Thanksgiving this weekend and I agree everyday is worth being thankful for but the Turkey eating sure is nice too😀
@@standishwoodstory Well then Happy Thanksgiving eat some Turkey for me :)
Wnnie, you have me thinking about all the Fall holidays, certainly my favorite time of the year. I can smell the sawdust in my woodshop just watching your video....and in your new shop! I love pumpkin pie with ice cream (vanilla of course) and a healthy dose of whip cream. Hoping to keep my figure this winter......oh well. Your video was great! Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂
Uhh nice choice 🥧! Happy fall, enjoy the holidays and coming up with fun projects to keep you in the shop :)
This is great. I was looking for a fun quick project for the holidays…and here it is. I own that DeWalt and highly recommend it. On the plus side of the scroll saw, they manufacture sanding blades that are used for the type of sanding that Turkey needs so no hand sanding needed
Sanding blades you say, well that sounds amazing, I think I may have to take a look at that scroll saw sooner than later, thanks for sharing that! Have fun building.
I can't wait tio start woodworking when i get my own house!
Great dream to have but don’t be scared to start now, a few tools can make for a lot of fun even in tiny spaces :)
Oh boy, pumpkin is my favorite pie and even better with a classic scoop of vanilla ice cream. Now I made myself hungry😂
Now you made me hungry😂😂
Sounds yummy 😋
Great build 💯👍
Thanks 👍
Merci beaucoup pour vos vidéos. Vous travaillez bien et vous êtes interessante.
Merci beaucoup!!!🥰
Please leave a comment as it helps me grow my channel and our woodworking community! I will start us off....I "love" or "detest" pumpkin pie🥧🥧🥧 Let me know?!?
Very cool project and nice outcome. Thank you for sharing!
My pleasure
“..these ones..”
Indeed. Thanks for watching!
Hey, thanks. Just did this project with a group of high school students in about 35 minutes. They loved it. Now they have a little bit of woodworking experiences and a project they can use everyday.
That is awesome! I love hearing that. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work of teaching students😊
Loved the in-depth way you spoke about this, tips and tricks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It has to be red for me.
I fully agree 🍷😊
Great project, I will be making one of these for my parents for Christmas, so they can hide their white zen box wine. Wine should only be red (cab or merlot) in a bottle with a cork. lol
😂😂 I’m sure your parents will love it 😊
How come you didn't use a dado stack to make the grove for the sliding door?
I don’t own one… yet ;) but if you have a dado stack then it’s a great way to make the groove to.
Great creation!
Thank you 😊
Nice job ! Thank you f
My pleasure
Preference to red but I won’t be drinking any right now cos my table saw blew up yesterday so gotta save some Pennies, heart broken I am
That’s terrible, how did that happen? And more importantly, which one are you saving up for now?
@@standishwoodstory sparks started flying (bit like a Harry Potter film) so I turned it off, the blade stopped after two minutes, i daringly tried a 2nd time the same happened, checked everything (after taking the plug out) and tried a third time, nothing, won’t even turn on, left it over night still wouldn’t start this morning. I bought my construction TS in 2020 “cheap” I’ve used it everyday, pushed it through all kinds a 💩 so I think it’s ok if it dies but even to buy the same one it cost double, I’ve been off work most of the year due to health problems and only have 3x4 sq meters of room soooooo, what would you recommend?
@@expatmoose That is aweful, but at least a good opportunity upgrade? I'm sorry to hear your having some health issues. Sounds like another construction saw may be the best option in terms of cost, and space, maybe see if you can get a good deal on a used model? I am a huge fan of SawStop, but they come at an increased cost so I realize it may not be doable.
@@standishwoodstory as far as I understand they need to be Imported here so not easy to buy or get parts, I got myself a small construction TS, German made so ok for parts for me, what we call B ware, damaged box, contents super, same as my last and it was ok till now, paid 1/2 price so can’t complain Thanks for the advice, hope you’re well, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
So it’s not a 192 sq ft small shop… it’s a 600 sq ft space with tools on wheels. This is in fact a huge workspace for an amateur woodworker.
Thanks for watching and having my tools on wheels makes a huge difference to take advantage of my small useable space. Have a positive day!
@@standishwoodstory enjoy your massive workshop

Beings a connoisseur of “chateau cardboard”, I’ve been mulling over how to build a box/carrier for carton wine, thought no one else would even think of it. Now before my eyes here it is! I think I’ll make two, stain one white & one red. I’ll raise a glass to you. Thanks.
Uhhh I love the idea of a carrier as well, maybe add a handle to the top for easy transport! Can’t wait to see your version! 🍷😊
Nice job Winnie. I see you use the same glue spreader as me :)
😂😂😂 yup the build-in-glue spreader works amazing!
Turned out really nice, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do! 😊
definitely the candle holders.
It’s really fun to make ;)
What a cool idea! It’s even better with cheap wood. 😎 And for me, red wine is the way… 🍷
I’m also on team 🍷 wine 😄 have fun building yours :)
Winnie, what a great project as we head into the holiday season. So glad you showed three operations using a jig saw and then a router to form your shapes. I've had too many bad experiences with a router trying to take out too much wood at one time. Patience is definitely a virtue here. The front is clearly the most fun piece. Now you have my brain thinking! Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂P.S. Your new shop looks beautiful.
You’ll have to let me know what designs you decide for your version, so many fun ways you can make it your own.
I also think these would sell amazing. Do you sell the finished wine boxes?
No I personally focus on the plan making, but I may have to sell some of my items soon or my shop will run out of space 😂
Great video! Any wine is good wine!!!
You got that right!
Fin vinbox❤
Tak 🥰
