This message hit home for me, especially the part about a reluctance to conform. I’ve always felt drawn to forge my own path, even when it was challenging. It’s inspiring to think that this resistance might be part of a greater purpose. But it raises a question: How do we distinguish between being 'set apart' and simply being stubborn?

thisidea confuses me- the sense of being set apart- is that nont a bit like thinking highly of yourself- it goes against much of what i was taught?

I'm hurting so bad right now. My life has crumbled. I'm losing the love of my life, my past sins have resurfaced and came to destroy my relationship. I'm so lost and hurt and clawing at sand. I'm struggling to let go of my past. I may have to let go of her she doesn't want to be with me anymore. As a young girl I often climbed a favorite tall tree in my backyard. I was amazed at the view from high above the ground. I remember wondering about God and asking Him questions. The branches hung halfway over a concrete wall and asphalt parking lot. To my mother’s dismay I climbed that tree day after day, with no fear because I just had to be alone and talk with God again.

A number of the discussion points rang true with me as a child. What I was drawn to was God. I always had the sense , even as a very young child, was that this life is a confusing mess. The adults around me seemed to have a lot of insecurities and would become inappropriately outraged if I suggested that there might be an alternate way. They were desperately determined to be respected and obeyed without question. That aside, I was mesmerized by the beauty of the physical world, knew I was not at all like others my age, felt called to the church in a deeper way than anyone else I knew. Never once felt that I was in the least bit special or headed for great achievements. I was right too. I have had a most unimpressive life. This world has never been my home and I have never felt attached to it like so many are. I think people who keep grandma’s old dishes and venerate grandpa’s pipe he smoked are not understanding how meaningless material things are. I feel I’ve made it to 82 and perhaps that is my greatest achievement, since I have asked to go .Home since I was 9 years old.

I remember always having a feeling that I wanted to go home. My Mother couldn't answer so many of my questions as a young child. I would ask where I was before I was born and I really wanted to know what would happen to me after I die. The feeling of not being home was very strong in my being......still is. I was rebellious. Too bad I didn't catch on earlier in my life, but God had his plan for my life. I now yearn for his full guidance. He turns bad into good for those who believe in him
