If anything, IN MY OPINION the top 5 LEAST important elections were: ‘56, ‘84, ‘72, ‘96, and ‘04 all incumbent presidents and fairly stable. The most important ones were (‘88, ‘92 tied for fifth), 2024, 1968, 2016, 2000.

Every election since 1970s is the most important election thus far, because the Republican Party has become increasingly authoritarian, plutocratic, anti-intellectual, and become dependent on the moneyed special interests. And the Democratic Party has become increasingly dependent on the wealthy elites as well for their operation and has thus become increasingly ineffective in fixing the damage done by the Republican Party. Thus, the problems just keep accumulating over time. And the country has been in decline ever since, and the situation has become increasingly dire, and thus the choice has become increasingly important.

The true more important elections in one hundred years are: 2024 (perhaps?) 2016 1960 1932

After actually studying the 2024 candidates and their policies, I believe that 2024 is going to be rather unimportant. Compared to Kamala, Trump will be worse on foreign policy and civil liberites (Project 2025), but maybe ~5-7% better on economic issues.
