John Lennon -Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 🎶🎶
A peek at Paul, Yoko & Sean behind the scenes, Paul's induction of John, and Yoko's acceptance. I'm fascinated by the interaction between Paul & Yoko in part one. When she asks Paul if he was "against" John minutes before he takes the stage, did she genuinely believe he had been, was it a mind game, trolling, something else?

My Old Friend Backstory - Carl Perkins with Paul McCartney

The rest of the story as told by Carl Perkins in a 1996 interview with Goldmine magazine which ran in the 1998 Beatles edition: "She (Linda) said, "There's two people in the world that know what John Lennon said to Paul, the last thing he said to him. Me and Paul are the only two that know that, but now there's three...you know it. I said, "Girl, you're freaking me out!...She said the last word...

Incredible insight.
Thats a great song. Carl was a real talent
In Pete’s book he says one time he was in New York and called John to see him and he could hear Yoko in the background shouting that she didn’t want his old friends coming over.
I read Pete's book about his life with John, John would call them both Shennon and Lotton...he loved John and John loved him.
Julia Lennon had four children by three different men all while still being married to John's Father . She then had no contact with John for years while living only two miles away and raising another family. John was abandoned by both his parents. As a teenager Julia re-entered his life only to be tragically taken .But John always had serious mommy issues and always referred to Yoko as Mother. There was a reason for that .
Yoko's love affair with John which eventually broke up the Beatles elevated her own narcissistic ego personal empowerment. Being a girl friend to the most popular musician in the world can do that to ones own personal stature and identity .
John's relationship /love affair with Yoko broke up the Beatles . The inherent creativity between John and Paul got strained because of this relationship. You can see it in Paul's words that he was frustrated as the other members were about Yoko being too close to the band while working in the studio . When musicians are in the studio creating thoughts and ideas, there has to be closely established and tight bond between the musicians in their interactions with one and another . With Yoko being there this weaken and broke that bond to that established creative group.. So yes Yoko indirectly broke up the band by John's own fault and actions himself. How John thought that tribal screaming (Yoko) was appealing to listen to in pop music is a indication just how love can instigate for some off kilter delusion . With John being one of best song writers in the 20th century, that makes that even more supportive of just that. 🤔
What a heartwarming story!!! 🥰
ouch
Carl Perkins was present at The Beatles recording session for Matchbox in 1964. Some writers have claimed Perkins played along with the group.
This brings tears to my edyes every time I hear it . . .
Carl Perkins touches my heart. There's something special about that guy.
Ringo Starr was born on July 7, 1940 in Liverpool, England. He celebrated his 84th birthday today (July 7, 2024). It's been more than 50 years since The Beatles disbanded, but Ringo shows no signs of slowing down. He has released more than 20 studio albums
Interesting that his half sister Julia Baird didn’t inherit any of her mother’s joy of life or humor like John did.
Julia Bird's memoir, Imagine This, is an interesting look at her life. She and her sister, Jacqi, had a difficult time after their mother's death, having to live with their resentful Aunt Harrie when the court ordered their Dad unfit to care for them. She definitely comes across as a more serious minded person, although I wouldn't say humorless or joyless.
Sad stuff
I Love Paul & Carl ,Rest in peace Carl ! You brought joy & happiness to many people. Thanks Paul for your friendship & love for Carl . I get tears of Joy watching this video every time I watch it.
Julia was an irresponsible person, she cheated on John's father, gave up an out-of-wedlock child for adoption, was turned in to the authorities by Mimi for child neglect, and gave up John on top of that. She is always portrayed as wonderful, and John showed hatred for his father, but his father always sent money to Julia for John when he was at sea during WW2, seeming to never understand Julia was derelict as a caregiver, i.e. making light of the boys' truancy. Keep it real, this was a tragic story.
4 years after losing mum Julia, age 17, John loses Stu at 21, a few months before the Beatles release their first single and then their feet dont touch the ground
😊❤😊
You can see the mutual respect and love they had for each other. I think it was Carls way of saying John will always be with him
A Paul siempre le ha dado bien hacer la voz de acompañamiento. John cuando cantaba,no parecia el mismo cuando tenia la voz de Paul acompañandolo 😍
Que bella historia 😢❤
All those years later and still a wonderful friend.
It started when Billy Shears joined in '66
...and just as he is talking about the psychic connection between John, Paul and that song, who calls him? Paul. Yeah, something uncanny is going on for sure.
the beatles were really big fans of carl perkins, especially george. when they went on their very first tour (before ringo joined) they all changed their names, and george changed his to Carl Harrison (after Carl Perkins)
In death, John’s with all who he loved and lost as far as I'm concerned.
All those years later I though I new what broke the Beatles I was wrong it was $$$$$$
Paul got too selfish around the time and he was running his songs with a fist of iron not good for relationships. He was believing the hype, where it grew from comparisons to Schubert; both Lennon and Mac were likened to Schubert. It destroyed the old relationship dynamic when George was THE GUITARIST. Paul was busy being Paul and John busy being John at the expense of the other Beatles. At the final years, George and Ringo both quit (at separate times, George during Let it Be and Ringo during the White Album) and had to be asked to come back esp. Ringo.
That gave me shivers, when Paul called him. That's crazy!? But the story about the song is beautiful.
if the Beatles recorded ' my old friend ' it would have been a hit
Paul has the gift. At 4:00 and 5:40, and then at 6:25, brilliant, just brilliant. And Carl, a lovely song, well sung, really tapped into something.
So while Carl is telling this story Paul calls ? That's crazy .......Paranormal connection to John too.
Same thing happened while Olivia Harrison was putting an old clock George had bought on the mantle. Paul called her to ask if it was okay to work on the song written by John that he, Ringo, and George had started working on in 1994. As she was looking at the clock Paul told her the song was called 'Now and Then', and the clock had the words 'Now' and 'Then' written on it.
Source?.
@@pacoferpez6047 Olivia posted the story on George's social media accounts when the song came out.
That's why the photo of the clock is on the back of the, "Now and Then," single cover.
Just Wow. So glad I found this clip and this story. Thank you Carl
wow that makes me cry
Mimi was strict Julia was fun. It was a sad situation where he had to be raised by someone other than his mom and then she is run over in the street infront of t of Mimi’s..so sad
The fact is, his mother was an irresponsible tramp. She gave up custody of her son rather than have her lifestyle infringed upon. Mimi and Uncle George were the best thing that could possibly have happened to him and he turned out to be petulant and ungrateful. Even the song he wrote for his mother was rededicated to that (w)hore Yoko. So much for his undying love for his mother, eh?
Great!! Great!! GREAT!!!!
2:48 won’t you think about me every NOW AND THEN…
One this is certain, neither Paul or Carl knew John had recorded a demo tape called “now and then” prior to his death, and Carl wrote this just a few months after Lennon died. Yoko didn’t give the demo tape of “now and then” to the Beatles until 1994 or so.
The coincidences are mind blowing.
Coincidences are just that. They prove nothing, except to those who need to believe. @@barrycolson
Thanks atheist man,for cleaning up the dogma front.@@barrybaddams7095
Now I know why Paul McCartney didn’t give up on the new song “Now and Then” Significant personal meaning to him.
Yep, it's the last song for his best friends, especially his best of best friend. I cried many tears when I heard it.
@@bamacopeland4372 I cried for two weeks.
That was no coincidence, him singing that song to Paul with those lyrics at the end. People can think otherwise, and thats their right, but that was John, dropping off a message to his mate that everything is ok. Personally, I've witnessed myself on spiritboxes, and old friends who had just passed tell me how much they missed me and our other friends. Reading about it and actually experiencing something like that changes your worldview. There is so much more going on around us than we could ever imagine.
We are not humans having a spiritual experience. We are spirits having a human experience. Yes there is communication from the other side to us still here.
Luminous beings are we… not this crude matter. - Master Yoda
The way Paul looks at him is incredible. Like he's in awe (to be fair, we all should be). How did Paul react to John telling him that? Did he think it was odd? Like "where are you going"? Did John know? It's all just eerie, in a beautiful way.
The Beatles were huge Carl Perkins fans, especially George.
This song chokes me up every time I hear it,he's so sincere ,so sweet. RIP Mr. Perkins.
lol love the description of the Beatles as "four frustrated drummers" plus Ringo Starr.
I'd like to know more about Paul's change from writing songs and asking the rest "what do you have to give?" to writing songs and saying "this is what you need to play." Anyone know if Paul has ever addressed this change?
Tvo LEGEND.....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sounds a lot like Pavement's breakup.
Then his best friend gets murdered in a car accident.
How do you get murdered in a car accident?
@@dane21dc Julia got hit by a car in 1958 and died.
@@juliabeatlemaniac And? You missed the point. How is someone murdered in a car accident?
@@dane21dc I'm confused. It's very common for someone to be murdered in a car accident. I thought you were asking how Julia was killed in one.
@@juliabeatlemaniac If it’s murder, htf is it an accident? Are you understanding? If it’s an accident, it is not murder
we dont actually know what she asked, she couldve been saying "john always thought you were against him" for all we know, this idea of yoko as some manipulative evil force is so stupid and its crazy its still around after so long
