Procyon // Part 4: No input feedback
Просмотров 1322 месяца назад
In this video Noé let's go of trying to make things make sense and surrenders to exploring how Procyon can be turned into a noise machine of its own. Expect laser beams, vocal transformer effects, kick drums, percussion voices that will lead you down a path to madness. Procyon is available to Pre-Order exclusively from our website www.glasgowsynthguild.com/
Procyon // Part 3: Acid voice
Просмотров 2783 месяца назад
In this video Noé shows how to use Procyon as a serial dual mono filter. The module normalisation scheme allows to run the left channel output to the right input and the morphing modes allow to choose different combinations of lowpass and highpass response for both filters. The patch example also makes use of audio rate FM modulation to generate formant-ish sounds as well as mid/side encoding t...
Procyon // Part 2: Filter type morphing
Просмотров 2413 месяца назад
In this video Noé shows how to turn a mono signal to stereo using Procyon’s anti parallel morphing ability. Running the same signal to both inputs, one side of the filter will morph from a lowpass to a highpass response while the other will morph from a highpass to a lowpass response. The resulting, paired with frequency modulation allows to create complex interaction in the stereo field. Perfe...

We caught up with Noé of Éon Audio Designs to get the inside scoop on the Procyon ahead of it's launch. Procyon available to pre order now, exclusively at: www.glasgowsynthguild.com
Procyon // Part 1: Low pass gate
Просмотров 8413 месяца назад
In this video Noé (the designer of Procyon) shows how you can use Procyon to animate mono signals in the stereo field or to add extra goodness to an already stereo signal! This patch also shows how the internal CV normalisation allows to easily replicate resonant low pass gate behaviours by sending envelopes to the VCA CV input. Pre-orders for Procyon are available through our website www.glasg...
Procyon // Glasgow Synth Guild

The Éon Procyon consists of two filters made to orbit around each other in the stereo field. The filter cores are loosely based on the 2nd version of the MS-20 filter core. However, the circuit has been improved upon to allow for CV morphing of the filter type as well as a modified CV-able resonance path. Moreover, the frequency control scheme has been redesigned from the ground up to allow eas...
oct tōne features & functionality // Glasgow Synth Guild 8-step sequencer

A deep dive into Glasgow Synth Guild's first product, the *oct tōne!* Our first collaboration is with Jason H.J. Lim, Instruo founder and designer and, as is expected with his designs, the *oct tōne* packs a mighty punch for a wee 10hp guy. The Glasgow Synth Guild are a collective of electronic instrument builders based in Scotland, we build modules, pedals, controllers and utilities for the mo...

The full features of the *oct tōne*... expanded! Designer Jason H.J. Lim dives into *even more* tricks and tips when using 2 modules linked as a pair. The Glasgow Synth Guild are a collective of electronic instrument builders based in Scotland, we build modules, pedals, controllers and utilities for the modern-day music producer. Our aim is to collaborate with independent designers to bring lim...
Lovely ❤
Is it available to buy somewhere in Europe, looks amazing.
Buttery, ms20 based?
Yes somewhat ! I took some freedom from it but it’s based on the same OTA topology
Sounds great. Is this going to be distributed through any US vendors?
At the moment we are selling small batches exclusively via our website www.glasgowsynthguild.com. We offer free shipping and there are no customs charges from UK to USA so you get the best deal on that side of the pond!
Oh that’s amazing!! Thanks for that
I will probably save up and just get Procyon and OctTone in one go
Do you have a limit on the quantity you’ll be producing?
@@andrewnancarrow Both the Oct Tōne and the Procyon are limited batches yes, once they're gone they're gone! We still have both in stock though 🫡
this is a beautiful sounding filter
Thank you !!
@@Éon-AD just snagged
@@PantherModern_la Have fun when it gets at your door :)
Congrats!
Loved the sine wave patch witth the 258t! Great sounding thing, just started playing on it today.
Hot tip that I forgot to do in the video : If you send your pitch sequence to the V/oct input the timbre tracks with the oscillator pitch
@@Éon-AD Obvious to me but it's worth mentioning for many I guess. Will add it to my video if you agree ;-)
I assumed that😂
Happy release day! Looking forward to hearing everyone getting weird with procyon!
Sorry but i think im going to go with etna over this at that price.
where are the pings? where's the saw sweeps?
Exactly!
Procyon isn’t really meant to be pinged, however you can send a gate to the resonance cv and an envelope to the FM to get similar results. I’ll do a video on it soon! This video is mostly about giving an overview of the main controls ! Concerning the saw filter sweep I’d argue that 70% of this video is filtering saws with envelopes and lfos in various ways !
Cool! Thanks for the response! 😅
Love this!
7:30 phwoar the resonance sounds great
Wild! 👹🖤
Extremely cool no-input sounds. Looking forward to the Procyon.
omnomnomnom
it sounds absolutely huge. great patch
SEXY!
those patch leads just get in the way. This looks a very ad-hoc design of synth, not very well thought out as regards the interface with the user. If it produced some unique tones and timbres that layout might be forgivable but nothing here sounds much different to many other synths.
Hey ! I designed the module and the case that way for myself first and foremost and I like using them! I find this setup to be quite broad and powerful in terms of the sounds it can produce ! With regard to the module’s interface, the main point is that the lay out of the pots allows to manipulate 2/3 of them with one hand at the same time which I like. I should have cable tied this patch to make it more readable but I don’t find the cables to be in the way of playing the system ! Eurorack is one of the most subjective areas of electronic music making from the ergonomics to the sounds it can produce :)
@@Éon-AD yes i guess your right about the subjective nature of the layout of eurorack systems and the ergonomics. And if the way you want to work changes then you can rearrange the modules to suit. i have used synths like the EMS were there is a nice tidy plug board for patching or the Korg MS20 with its patch bay at one end. Also i like (and i am one of the few i think) the Yamaha CS30 where the patching is done with switches across the panel, the options are a bit more limited but in a live performance there are no patch leads to get in the way of the controls and the choices are made at the destination not the source, for example the LFO has no wave shape setting it simply sets the rate, you set the wave shape modulation (square, saw, sine, s/h) at the filter or vco or vca etc. Also you choose the filter hp, bp, or hp, at the VCA, i know it sounds weird but for me it works.
lol, what? Eurorack isn't for everyone........
I just received my module today. Going to have so much fun with this! P.s.: man, that packaging with all those cool widgets and addons included in the box was so cool! And I smiled when I spotted the signature in the corner of the PCB. This is real boutique quality! The care and passion of the guild is clearly visible!
I want to see the machines play mate.
Mother alien ..
Awesome ♥☺♪♪ BRO
I recognise the inspiration for those cabinets 😄 pure John Storyk early 1970, just need another 5! 😉
Great to hear from Noé and see how Procyon came to life. Looking forward to exploring the module myself too :)
Interested - will it be available through signal sounds?? That’s where I do all my buying, too expensive to ship individually for international
Sounds dirty❤
Thank you ! It was never meant to be a clean filter ;)
I see and know folks who are into this. Never hear a song I like baring this mess of tech. So it means nothing.
Couldn’t miss the point more - this is anti-song music gear for most users. We feel such excitement exploring something new everyday that nothing could be less interesting to us then going back and re-doing or working with something done previously. It’s about the experience - not the end product - and boy is the experience satisfying
Jason are you still planning on doing a follow up video showing pattern saving and recall for dual configuration? Would love to see it.
Pretty
hell yeah, love you ppl!
oh.. love it
thank you :)
Will you be partnering with any US retailers? Congrats on the module it looks cool. Looking forward to see what else you are building!
I had a very positive experience working with GSG, having the Oct Tone shipped to me in the US. Arrived in less than 2 weeks from when I ordered and they handled all of the shipping/customs costs.
Hello! At the moment no. Perhaps as we grow that might be on the cards, but for now we are selling directly from our website. We offer free worldwide shipping 🤘
I'd love to see some patch demonstrations of the stereo field "orbit," and do you see this as more suited for end-of-chain?
More on the stereo modes of operation to come out soon ! using Procyon as an end of chain filter would be far from transparent ! There’s a lot of gain in this module but I don’t see why it couldn’t be done ! :)
I love this module, but I don't like importing it from UK to NL. After conversion, tax and customs it's around 400 euro. It's no big deal, just very expensive.
common story with eurorack
Fantastic work as usual Jason & the GSG. I just acquired a second one from a Melbourne wiggler who was flipping and going a different route sequence wise, definitely my gain there, Hexadecatone FTW!! I haven’t had this much fun with a sequencer in a long time, it’s so hands on and intuitive. Looking forward to the next instalment. Thanks again from the antipodes. ❤😊
Appreciate your kind words @theplasticlens 👍 that’s a major result for you! Great find💪. The possibilities open up greatly as a linked pair. Happy to hear your having fun with them like we are👊
We need a hexadecatone replacement panel! Also, FYI, Google dictation knows that there's a word "hexadecatone."
Looks awesome!
mmmh!!! it's sems that I found a new SeQ :)
Very pleased about this. Love that it's quite easy to use, has quantization, can apply different amounts of notes/bursts to each channel plus more. Best thing about this Module is it's all finger controlled; no menu diving or anything difficult to remember! Will this Company have a US distributor?🎉❤
Hi Elen, we’re glad you like the Oct Tōne! It is a super fun and versatile sequencer to play with for sure! For now we are selling directly from our website with free worldwide shipping included should that sway you 😉👍
That clock ‘quirk’ is maybe my favorite part
Where can these be acquired?
How do we get our hands on these?
Hello, the Oct Tōne can be purchased directly from our website WWW.GLASGOWSYNTHGUILD.COM
I want Jason to teach all of my college classes.
I've had this idea of chaining sequencers together for a while and now it's come to life. You basically built the sequencer I had in my head. Good work!
Mowska and the r185 do it as well but aesthetically, size-wise, and simplicity-wise this is my favorite.
Very nice. Kinda like a quantized Muxlicer.
Love the GSG §
This looks excellent! Simple, small and playable.
*sigh*… now i want two.
yeah i also ordered 2 :D
Submitted order for one..then looked at the manual..and ordered a second one 5 minutes later ...hey it's free shipping...
Just curious... Is this something carried forward from the QuBit Octone??
I designed both :) This time I made it better though 😉
@@JHJLIMI didn't know that! Wow! What are the changes from the original design?
@@sunilsolanki proper buffering of gate and clock signals and actual calibration of the output scaling and bias so this version produces a consistent and accurate 1V/octave signal! I dropped the global slew as it was really not well implemented before. So stepped voltages are really articulate now. I also got the board design down to a single PCB depth so it will actually fit in any system now :)
@@JHJLIMamazing! I’ve always wanted an octone and goodness knows this is now high on the list to pick up. Looks incredible!
Damn! I used to love my QuBit octone. I regret selling it. This looks like a tasty upgrade.
Excellent demonstration of a very versatile sequencer Jason! Kudos to the Glasgow Synth Guild crew from the antipodes!
