When, if ever, can we trust the plain meaning of the text and not go into some convoluted journey through the old testament to find out what the new testament authors ment in spite of the two being written in different languages and times. Lets say for example that you are not sure what i mean by "still appears". You could go to a good dictionary and look up the common usages for the word "appears" or you could go to the old or middle english meaning of the word appears, see how Chaucer used the word. Now which makes more sense?
