Just did my headlights thanks to your video. Thanks!
Thank you for your video. Appreciate it very much!
reqiures premium gas.... put 35k miles on my gen1 last year using 90% regular. only splerged for premium during a heat wave we were having. gen1 is not direct injected, its port and its compression ratio is only 10:1, unlike gen2 with direct injection which is 15:1. if any car needs premium, you would think its the gen2. also gen1 has an iron block so more strength and less thermal expansion than gen2's aluminum block. Gen1 transmission was a large solid 5 axis cnc'd gear, spendy, gen2 is one of those garbage CVT style metal belts stamped out of low carbon steel. gen1 and gen2 basically had the same battery, only difference is gm lowered the state of charge restrictions. not good for longevity. also the gen1 only directly powers the wheels from the motor in hwy speeds of like 55-65mph, while the gen2 does so as often as it can, which i would think puts more wear on that clutch pack. imo gen2 was a cost saving measure. less neodidlum in the motor, less efficient. there is also an extra planetary gear set, one more thing to go wrong imo. most people just blow by the changes between the volt models.... its already a really complicated car.
I’ve done so many of these road trips on my 14’. I am experiencing everything break on it now at 193k miles but I NEVER spend more than 60-$80 a month on gas and I’m averaging 67mpg
@@TheYorkjosh great info. Thanks for sharing.
Good video! I live in Finland and well, we have snow during winter - a lot of snow - and I can confirm that my Opel Ampera works like a charm in deep snow despite it's riding low. This at least with proper winter tires.
Price? Last I heard the Soltera only had about a 150 mile range. As much as I would LOVE an all electric Subaru, 150 is impractical in 2024. This video puts them over 200 which, if true is more realistic.
What filter is it??
Audi an expensive lemon. You will never save money buying an Audi.... even if it ran on water
You sound like you’re under water!
He Made changing my light very easy for me!
the title says Best Used EV for 2023, but almost all EVs were listed. The title seems to say some criteria were applied, if it was the person talking did not mention what they were. no mention of the price range for EVs, no mention of any reviews for the EVs, just useless video.
thanks for doing the video. The sound quality is bad, I wish you put less time into selecting extra music and more time in editing your own sound more consistent and better quality.
Yeah Volt owner here exactly what I think about the new Prious. Chevrolet... well just duh. As usual.
The difference in volume between the music and your voice makes it unwatchable.
Your dialog is so low I had to crank the volume to max. And then that very unnecessary music suddenly blasts at 20 desibles louder. Why?
Where is the Volvo?
That’s not a 2023 Audi Q5….
Why is the MB250e is always overlooked? It looks better than most early EVs under 15k
Good point. I do like the B class. Thanks for mentioning it.
Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Yes, only that a Gen 3 Volt would likely have better EV range than the new Prius, and would only come in a PHEV option.
Very true!
The battery is the biggest part of the price tag. Buying a used battery is economic suicide.
Thank you so much for this info! Just changed out my girlfriends light bulb and it took all of 10 mins! It was easier then I thought it was.
I'm 73 years old so I couldn't wait. So I bought a Bolt EUV and I am very pleased. I do like the Blazer myself.
Glad to hear it. I have been looking at the EUV myself.
According to LinkedIn; indicated that Ford may not have experience engineers with PhD required on their jobs opening. They screen a lot of good experience engineers out of there engineering department. This means Chevy should be a better choice.
Do your research! The Ford does indeed charge at 150 KWs, for the large battery, 110 KWs, for the standard battery. And, that 150 KWs lasts for a grand total of 5 minutes resulting in an average speed of 100 - 110 KW rate. And, then there's GM using LG Chem batteries (Same company that caused the Bolt , Kona and IPace EV fires). Not touching those vehicles until they guarantee you'll receive the CATL batteries instead. I've owned two EVs ... it's not fun waiting forever for your battery to charge at a DCFC that actually works. This is why these charge rates must be fast.
Ive had friends and family own 3 Chevy's and they have always been junk, I would never get one, at all. Even if you gave it to me for free.
Nice comparisons. I prefer the Blazer. I'm curious: how much HP the Blazer RS AWD will have.
I have not heard how much that will be. Please let us know if you find it.
@EV evals I'm hoping to hear from Chevy Dealership soon. I reserved it on 23 Aug 2022. I am supposed to hear from Dealership to configure my Blazer for delivery this summer.
@@steverichard2786 well that’s exciting. Thanks for letting us know and I hope all goes well.
The rear lights on the BlazerEV remind me on the Lexus LC. A could topic of a video might be how EVs are classified as cars, large cars , suvs and trucks when it comes to the Fed Tax credit.I thought the Mustang MSRP maxed out at $55k to get the Fed EV tax credit like the Tesla 3 it’s classified as a SUV so the max is much higher. The ways the Fede classify some is surprising.
Agreed it is weird. I believe a lot of the classifications have to do with the vehicle weight.
Why do you say the start price is $44-50,000? Is this an American/Canadian pricing?
Just giving a range for the base and top models. I can see how that could be confusing though. Thanks for mentioning it.
Full battery only gets you 30 miles?
It’s a plug-in hybrid. Runs on battery first then switched to a regular hybrid.
@@EVevals understandable and an interesting car
Yeah depending on the Temperature outside. I think when it gets down in teens it's range goes down to 24. Summer it can go as far as 40 miles.
Exactly right!
MINI COOPER!!!!!!!
AUDIE’S wooooo hoooooo
Yes, I see similarity. A beauty. Likely to buy 2023 Prius LTD if quiet comfortable ride. Please do another review. Thanx!
I can't get the clip off. I'm doing the passenger side light and I pull the clip back so far I think it's going to snap off and I still can't disconnect the bulb from the connector.
I can’t remember for sure is there just one clip or two? Check the replacement bulb.
How do you figure that it's "less useful overall" than gen 2-4?
Hey flamingspinach. I meant utility wise. It’s a hatch but a very sloped one so big boxes won’t fit. We had a Volt and C-max at the same time and the C-max square shape in the back allowed for a lot more cargo. As for efficiency yes the slope design is much better.
Neither ...complete garbage ..fully electric vehicles are the worse thing ever made
BS, but neither vehicle is fully electric anyway lmao
I’m getting a switch to engine off from electric w it saying propulsion power reduced and Codes cmn up are saying TCM (transmission control modular), cat sensor, low torque. I replaced all motor mounts, etc and it’s still throwing code? Anyone have similar issues?
Awesome video, thanks for this!!
Glad you liked it!
I m torn between the two n u made a great video to help me decide....keep up the good work...n thank u.
The Nissan Leaf has great build quality and materials
Lo and behold, I got in like you instructed and found - no filter! Just empty space. GM owes us each a cabin filter! Shame on them.
Wow just wow. Now I'm wondering at what stage the filter was supposed to be installed.
@@EVevals Mine didn't have one either :-( 2013 Volt and I just checked it. Very disappointed considering how many dirt roads I've driven this thing on!
That you for the video. Like everyone else, my volt also did not have a filter in it, lol. Seems strange that GM would have the capability installed but not the filter.
My 2015 Volt had the Service High Voltage message. I added coolant and replaced the coolant sensor, then cleared the codes with a Blue Driver. Message was gone for a few days and now is back. Has anyone had to replace the coolant pump or HV battery? Not sure what else it may be and would appreciate advice.
There wasn't much demand so it was losing case.
I read that the Chevy Cruze was made in the same factory and GM decided to quit making it and the Volt alone couldn't justify keeping the factory open so they cancelled both.
What about the e-Golf?
You’re right. That would have been a great one to include.
I was looking to buy a 2014 volt but my ob scanner says the car needs to updated or something in order to scan i have scanned other cars before and after and never seen that message
Hey Tic Tac. Thanks for sharing this. I have not heard of that either. If you figure it out please let us know.
@@EVevals too bad i didn't figure it out before the one the owner was selling got sold
@@EVevals my bluedriver works on most cars no problem but with the 2014 volt i had to go in the options and update my bluedriver odbll scanner i had more time at the used dealer to check it out so it was an easy thing to do but the dealer wants 14k plus a bunch of fees n taxes the one that sold was by the owner for 9400 it probably didn't even have any codes but the one at the dealer had some not so serious codes about keys not programmed right or something not serious but their prices r crazy i will look for another 1 for sale by owner
Refulgen effulgent lambent brilliant
Great Video
Chevy bolt all day
We looked at a Bolt. The Chevy dealer had 2 'year old' ones that were never titled. They were eager to sell them - at half the price. But on the test drive, they felt so cheap. We couldn't figure out the nav system at all. The sales guy never bothered to explain it. With our Tesla, it is always on. You simply say the address and it routes you there. We bought a 2yo Leaf SL instead. Also half price. It is no Tesla 3, but felt way ahead of the Bolt. I bought the Leaf.
Jon, great info on what you found out on the EV landscape. Thanks!
Gen 2 Chevy Volt all the way👍I get 65 Ev miles all seasons except Winter! 50 ish then. If you don’t need a very roomy car, this is a very good option. I’ve had a gen 1, and gen 2! Never any issues😀
We have been very happy with our gen 1. Can’t say no issues but great car over all. Thanks Todd for sharing your experience.
I have a gen 1......getting the heater issue fixed. I get 35-40 range on the battery alone and charge maybe 2-3 times a week. It amazes me that 10 years later other manufacturers still haven't caught up to the volt from 12 years ago
