I really enjoyed this film. There were some odd choices, but ultimately it was a very slick film with a pretty captivating story. The tennis ball cam was a bit much, but the biggest critique I would have would be the weak reason for her leaving her boyfriend. I mean, he wasn't at the match when he got hurt...I'm not sure anyone would leave their significant other over that in real life. It was advertised as being super sexual and I think that was kind of false advertising, but it's fine.

Definitely the worst thing I've seen all year. The humor was super cringe. The acting was forced, but I guess that makes sense because some of these actors looked like they were going to die at any second. The writing was insulting to anyone trying to make it as a screen writer. If something THAT bad is being given millions of dollars then it should be forced to give some of the proceeds to a charity for struggling writers. ROFL. This hurt to watch. I know people really wanted to like it, and are forcing their smiles real hard for the sake of nostalgia, but damn...this was bad.

Super meh film that felt like something I had seen a million times before. It wasn't BAD perse, but it definitely wasn't special. There were also bizarre choices like a bunch of kids flying off on a helicopter mid film just to really isolate the main character...Then a teacher just takes a kid off on his own desperately hoping to have to register every place he lives for the rest of his life? A woman has a drunken mental breakdown one scene and is calmly laughing the next...After taking a teenager to a party with alcohol because once again, the teacher has no common sense. He's a real hard ass and yet does all this wildly inappropriate shit? I still wouldn't say it was bad...I guess I'll say this, it was a horrible script with great writing and direction, but ultimately it just felt like a film that would have been original if I hadn't seen a million other films with a similar premise before it.

I can't explain it, but I just can't seem to muster up any feelings about these films. I LOVED the original planet of the apes films, but mostly for their camp and cheese, but these films...Like I said, I can't explain it, but I put them on and they instantly bore me. I've tried to watch all of them, and make it about 15 minutes into every single one of them before I turn them off. This one, I was sure, was going to be the first one I finished but I made it even less far than usual. They just offer NOTHING in the way of mystery. I feel like when they start it takes about ten minutes to guess everything that happens. If it were like the book, which I've read, and they had the tech and society we had in the 60's that would be interesting, but their just running around in a jungle and playing out boring tropey storylines. Planet of the apes and Starship Troopers are two books that are really deep and intelligent and yet every film version is just watered down to a bland weak sauce that offers nothing to interest my palette..

Now that city skylines 2 has come out, what are your thoughts about it? (Curious)

I thought this concept was so ripe for an awesome thrilling ride, and to me the movie was not that. At 95min the pace surprisingly dragged and the movie tries to do too much that it loses sight of its simplistic yet brilliant concept. Could’ve been amazing but I walked out feeling, meh. Also I’m pretty sure it forgets there is no gravity in space more than a couple times!

I love this movie! The cast were great, I loved the characters and their dynamics. Paul Giamatti should honestly be considered at the Oscars as well as Da’Vine Joy Randolph. Its a heart warming modern day Christmas classic that I intend on watching for many more years to come. Great review! Keep making awesome content 👍
