Way too much emphasis on lyrics. Great album
@@chrischambers5408 As someone who loves to read and write, I can’t help it. For me personally, lyrics will also be as important as the music, if not more. Tony is definitely more into the music itself than lyrics normally, but sometimes I challenge him to take a closer look at the lyrics as well. Sometimes to a fault I must admit but that how I love to listen to music. -Rico

Curious, what are Lindsay's thoughts on the 2 records Darren King released in 2024?
@@AllMediaReviewsPodcast I’ll ask her! I know she’s followed some of Sucre and we have one of their albums on vinyl. I haven’t heard Darren’s albums but Paul’s recent single was fairly decent.
I need to get a Vinyl copy of Armistice, but don't anticipate spending a ton for it. With the demand for the s/t and now Reset, I gotta believe Armistice repressing could happen.
@@AllMediaReviewsPodcast That would be great! We would probably buy a reissue that way we wouldn’t have to spin our expensive copy hahah
This abum is beatiful, go and listening by yourself.
This is the first video I've seen from you guys! Great video! Pressure Machine is definitely a great album. You should both react to Imploding The Mirage!
@@scottishbru8051 Thank you for the kind words! I’m definitely going to be showing Tony Imploding the Mirage one day, it’s another great album! Also apologies for the audio on this video, I’ve corrected the issues on the next ones.

Beach Boys Today is underrated.
Agreed! Especially the second half- I think their cover of I’m So Young is underrated!!
It’s criminal,to talk through Surfs up!
@@MichaelDaley-l6i hahah I did give it multiple listens on my on after recording and definitely appreciated it way more!
Surf’s Up is definitely one of my favorites, brings tears to my eyes!
The original Smile album was called Smiley-Smile and was a huge disappointment for loyal Beach Boys fans. After God Only Knows and Good Vibrations (the latter song was included on Smiley Smile despite fans having bought the 45rpm single) everyone was expecting more musical pyrotechnics from Brian but the album was a damp squib. It was pleasant but not mind-blowing and the inclusion of two previous singles, Good Vibrations and Heroes and Villains, was a bit of a cheat. One felt short-changed. As a concept album, Smile was confused, over-ambitious and ultimately, a failure. It doesn't compare very well with Sergeant Pepper, for example. Having said that, God Only Knows and Good Vibrations are songs I never tire of listening to, with their complex instrumentation, the soaring falsetto harmonies, the simplicity of the theme, both being love songs. The rearrangement of the traditional Sloop John B was also a staggering achievement in its own right. Absolutely ground-breaking songs. Musical perfection. There are many other remarkable songs throughout Wilson's entire corpus, always gems to discover. In essence, the Beach Boys sound is one of sweet summer melancholy, the Californian dreamscape of the early to mid-Sixties, the optimism, elan vital and yearning of adolescence captured in the "amber" of vinyl in those halcyon days. A wonderful soundtrack to grow up with.
This was the original Smile. Brian scrapped this and made a more simplified and mellow version of most of the songs for Smiley Smile in '67. If given the focus, time, and definitely using less drugs Smile would've been another Pet Sounds. Another masterpiece but would likely sell poorly at the time. I love Sgt. Pepper's but I do think its been overrated over the years although I adore a few of the songs. But its best to never compare two of the most important bands of the 20th century 😁
@@Andermander429 Dude, if a genie granted me 3 wishes, my first wish would be to hear what Smile would sound like if it was completed in 67!!
Pulled an all nighter thanks for the company
@@NateWinchell No, thank you for watching! I’m glad we could help!
i visited the mural in LA about a year ago. i think its been painted over / destroyed a few times. it seems to be in a constant cycle of being painted over / repainted. i think its currently in good condition

You guys always have such insightful comments! I’ve really loved the breakdowns I’ve seen thus far. Figure 8 is probably my favorite of Elliotts albums, but it’s hard to choose.
@@Catasple Thank you so much for the kind words! As I’ve been giving Figure 8 more listens I’m loving it even more and it’s extremely hard to rank the just the four albums of his that I’ve heard. A truly amazing musician. -Rico
Don't chop the tunes up, knuckleheads.
@@cmzeman Ha! I didn’t want to but last did I kept it uncut it was blocked for copyright. Plus we weren’t sure if someone would have a two hour long episode. But we will reconsider it for the future.
Great Album
Glen does a great version of REM's "Hairshirt" on mandolin - I stumbled across it on RUclips. Cool video. I'll have to check out more of your stuff
@@CBCDs I absolutely love that cover! That’s always been one of my favorite R.E.M. songs. When I say Glen at a solo concert a couple of years ago he teased playing it but played another song instead. Was a little bummed even though the rest of the concert was fantastic. We do have an episode on Automatic For the People. Thanks so much for checking out our videos!
I love the Frames. I only really know the "For the Birds" album. I saw them in NYC in 2004 - Damien Rice opened for them. Headlong, santa Maria, Lay Me Down....
@@CBCDs That must have been a great show! They are on my concert bucket list for sure. I also need to check out Damien Rice still, I’ve heard great things about him.
I bought this album in 1978 and it was so well produced that is was used by audiophiles to buy or tune their stereo systems. One of my favourite albums of all time. Just for fun here is my ranking .. 1. Home at Last 2. Black Cow 3. Deacon Blues 4. Peg 5. AJA 6. Josie and 7 I Got the News. Thanks for doing this.

Tom Waits is a genius.
Amazing
The crash that opens Scared of Fear (right after the atmospheric sound) is Sean Penn hitting the cue ball on the pool table.
I love how he’s credited in the booklet for that small moment.
Waiting for Stevie gave me In Hiding vibes.
I thought the same thing on first listen! Which is probably why it’s my favorite from the album since that’s my favorite PJ album. Have you gotten to see them live on this tour yet?
@@relativelysoundpodcast I saw them both nights at Kia Forum (Los Angeles). I also will be seeing PJ with Neil Young in four months at Ohana Fest.

I was at the Masonic show and it was my birthday! 🎉😊
Awesome! Happy belated birthday! I was there too and it was great, I’ll try to upload some videos of it soon.
@@relativelysoundpodcast I really enjoyed your review of the concert. I just “discovered “ Glen in 2015 when I was researching my Irish heritage and stumbled upon “Once”. I was real late to the party I guess. Loved the movie so I checked out Glen Hansard. I kind of went backwards in his career, Swell Season and then the Frames. Interesting guy and interesting personal story. Funny story about when he met Van Morrison etc. Glen has shared a lot of stories about all the greats he has worked with etc. Have you seen Glen in the 1991 Movie the “Commitments”? It’s kind of a cult classic I think. It’s great. Anyway, I had never heard you guys before. Thanks for sharing.
Blue Moon is famous song. He is a duet with one of his friends and it’s on RUclips.
I'm not really sure what the guitar effect is on Diamonds and Coal but I would guess it's some sort of phaser. But knowing Mike Eizinger it's probably a bunch of different pedals, the guy is a guitar wizard and is super underrated imo. The guitar effect in Pendulous Threads in the intro is a ring modulator.
Dig me up from under what is covering the better part of me.
Really cool to see more long form talks about Incubus. One of my biggest influences musically and personally, and I think they're super underrated and deserve a lot more credit than they get. Definitely keen to hear what he thinks about other albums especially stuff like Crow and Make Yourself.
Thanks for checking out the episode and for the comments! We will definitely be making an episode in the future where I talk about my thoughts on their other albums!
