Yes, that was just posted today (June 7). Many of us know that yes there are a lot of personal golf carts, but it is the trucks and all of the rentals that have been excessive. Ideally the Town Council will be moving people/businesses/etc. towards New Town up north as a way to alleviate all the congestion in San Pedro Town. It won't be impossible to get transportation, Deb, but will just take some creative thinking and patience :)

Thanks Rachel. We’re coming down next month to check the progress of our home. We plan to go to Captain Sharks to see if they can give us some insight or if they have solutions. I wouldn’t think the government would want to shut down a business. And yes, those trucks scare the daylights out of me! Saw my life flash before my eyes last time up at SB. So scary.

Just got back from the island. If they would fix the roads, Ambergris would be perfect. However everybody glosses over the road conditions. They are absolutely horrendous. Even the paved portions in town have extreme road bumps, and bone jarring dips.

We stayed on south end.

The roads are a lot better than they were a year ago, but if you're newbie there is nothing to compare the current roads to. Platinum Point is about 1000 feet from the Caribbean and 2000 feet from the Ambergris Lagoon. Drive-wise, it's about 5-minutes to the Caribbean, and about 15 to the Lagoon since you have to backtrack a little :). If you build elevated enough you can see the water, but I can't guarantee what will be built between the land and the waters.

The smallest subdivided land we have seen here is about 4500 sqft. 10% of the total land must be allocated for "green space"/ left undeveloped.

Belize as a country generally isn’t “cheap.” Many items are imported into the country incurring a customs and duties fee, then further barged to the cayes, and further transported to the construction site. It adds up. But people choose to live in Belize for many different reasons. It is not everyone’s cup of tea, but there are many people who enjoy the laid back lifestyle, the people, the views. For me personally it was all of the above. And my cost of living is cheaper than in the States. It may not be worth it to you to be in this type of environment, but for many, it is.

@@lunarealtybelize I understand that, people liking laid back lifestyle, but my statement still stands, it is way overpriced for what it is. Yes I get that importing fees and less “accessible” for shipping and all makes it more expensive, hence why they need to put more money into the development. But they don’t seem to! I’m not sure. Other CARRIBEAN countries are just as beautiful some way more beautiful, with stunning views, Belize islands (SAN Pedro) particularly doesn’t have enviable beaches, there is good diving there of course, but they need to put more money into beach reclamations and maintenance. Anyway, overall, there are sooo many other options to choose from when it comes to CARRIBEAN islands, if I were to spend as much money as I did in Belize I’d rather go to Sint Maarten, Barbados, Grenada, (Caribbean side of Mexico) and the list goes on. You pay the same price but you get soooo much more out of it. This is why I said I don’t understand Belize prices don’t make sense to me as a tourist. This is not to “insult” Belize, this is for their government, hopefully they put and invest more money into it and make it beautiful and more inviting for tourists if they are looking to grow tourism that is, if not then I guess it doesn’t matter.

​@@luxurytravel759 There is definitely a focus on infrastructure with this current administration, thankfully. Belize has a charm that many folks don't find in other Caribbean places, but it definitely makes sense to shop around to see where you find the best value.
