I’m just curious what people are paying for these wonder 4005V basses. A friend paid $4200 street price (plus tax, free shipping.) How did he do?
Andy - Not bad. Some dealers are selling these for retail and some at a deeper discount.
I like them but the body is crescent whilst the head is cresting the wave.
Hi Chris, Great video! Can you comment on whether there is any neck dive when using a strap while standing? Thanks!
Hi Dean - thank you for your kind comments! I haven't noticed any noticeable neck dive with the bass on a strap (I'm a husky 5' 9".) If there's any, it's very little. The bass is very comfortable to play. For anyone who may be a bit shorter, I'd definitely recommend the 4005XC (which is short scale) while they're still available. 😀
@@bchnwgn - thanks for the quick reply Chris. That’s good news about the 4005V. I already have a 4005XC along with some other Rics, too. I’m obsessed with Rickenbacker basses so I’ll need this one to add to my Ric family.

I have a 4005 that That was a project without a finger board. It was turned into a fretlist and converted over to a single dual action truss rod... I prefer it over my dual versions.,,
I became aware of the 4005 through Mani. He and Reni were a groove juggernaut!

Looks like an awful lot of work to do a re-string. Can't it be done one string at a time and save all the disassembly? That's how I typically do all my basses anyway. Just curious. BTW, these 4005's of any vintage are simply gorgeous. A total grail bass for me. I was lucky enough to get one of the 25 4003 Noir basses made in 2016, but these 4005's would surpass that lovely beast.
Hi Mike - Great question. Believe me, the time savings way to restring a 4005 is to remove the "R" tailpiece as suggested. There is not enough clearance between the tailpiece and the body to restring the bass and you'd have no visibility underneath. As you can see by the photos of the underside of the tailpiece in the video, restringing one of these babies with the tailpiece off is challenging enough due to the shape of the string channels - this exactly is why I thought it important to include this info in the video. As stated, restringing this bass is very different from a standard bass. The good news is that if you restring with the right set of strings, you may only have to restring this bass once! Let me assure you that the juice is worth the squeeze, as these basses sound amazing, and the neck is killer! The quality on these new 4005V's is fantastic.😀
A good plan to keep all your small metal parts and screws safe when working on you bass or other projects is to purchase a small magnetic dish. I keep one in all 3 of my workspaces, music room, workshop, & garage. Harbor Freight tools stores or online have them for around $5.00
