The Griffis Art Center
Добавлен 20 окт 2013
The goals of the Griffis Art Center are to (1) cultivate and encourage contemporary fine art and artists, and (2) to create an opportunity for international exchange among artists and the community through the visual arts.
Founded in 1989, the Griffis Art Center's International Artist-in-Residence Program offers artists a quiet, private environment to focus and work intensively - uninterrupted by the static of everyday life.
For three months at a time, artists reside and work in New London, Connecticut, USA in an atmosphere designed to stimulate personal vision and encourage new and exciting artistic expressions.

Maison des Artistes - 2000 International Artist-in-Residence
Produced by the Griffis Art Center - April 6, 2010
"Spent upon the shore of the Bay of Bengal, ever close to nature at its most elemental, Sunil's childhood provides myriad images with which he is playing his consummate artistry. For example, ornately bedecked elephants are rife, recalling countless Hindu festivals he celebrated in his youth. Sunil is also drawn to the elephant because of its placid temperament and innate passivity, qualities lost in the hectic world of contemporary Dhaka, the country's capital. Temples and bells, with colorful banners and votive candles, also evoke these religious festivals.

This is the best art school for children i was a teacher at Children Studio school back in 1980. My daughter went there too. She is a great artist today and I said that schools like these should be developed in DC area🎉 blessings to Marcia
Quite a collection! Haitian paintings are like potato chips, you can't stop at one. Haiti is incredibly rich in painting, metalwork, music and dance It is a shame the Haitians don't have political leaders worthy of them.
If you have watched the Netflix documentary, The Andy Warhol Diaries, this is the American 'art critic' (Vivien Raynor) that referred to the prodigy/artist Jean-Michel Basquiat as Andy Warhol's "Mascot" in her New York Times review of the September 1985 Warhol-Basquiat exhibition. Shame. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Michel_Basquiat
This is the POS that called Basquiat Andy Warhol’s mascot.
Ahhh , so this is the idiot that ended a friendship and ignited Basquiats drug problem leading to his death. Thanks muffin
This school was/is fabulous...excellent concept. My son attended many moons ago.
Seriously a very nice man
I worked with Judy in her studio during this period. She was such an inspiration with respect to pushing through boundaries and exploring texture, light, and the use of 2-D space. I love her work
bravo!
I like the talk
Excellent unintentional asmr
wow, ive been searching for hours and this video gave me the answer I needed. thanks .
So fun to see Nelson from over 20 years ago!!! This was only a couple years before Laura Grenning met Nelson, painting on a beach on Shelter Island.
This artist is an expert, I 😍
Uh, no.
Ho-hum.
Mr. White's paintings are always beautiful and pleasing to the eye. But talk about a one trick pony. Designs are not very imaginative. Peter Paul Rubens he ain't.
As one of Charles Chu's children (and as a friend of Rona Rutchik), I'm surprised and delighted to see this program - which is new to me - on RUclips. Thank you to the Griffis Arts Center - and host Rona Rutchik, and producer Sharon Griffis - for sharing this.
Great to see this. What is amazing is how pervasive is the relationship between Art and Technology now. VR and CGI is a part of our daily lexicon. And yet when one watches this talk of 22 years ago, one feels like your talking about a truly foreign world.
Very nice. It sounds so much more romantic in Bulgarian. Sorry I missed it when you were here # 205 -W-
