Tour of my Car Camping Rig | 2000 Honda CR-V AWD (RD1)
Finally! I got around to making my most requested video for y'all. Something a little different since I don't usually talk in my vids (let's just say there were a lot of overdub takes lol). I hope this vid is informative for those that have been wanting to know more about my setup or just want some inspiration for their own.

Epic Views Along West Camino Cielo | Santa Barbara, CA
Просмотров 5 тыс.Месяц назад
Finally back! July had been a busy month for me and I needed to get outside for a bit. I wanted to go somewhere off the beaten path but still stay somewhat local. So I did some research and found a trail along the Santa Ynez mountains in Santa Barbara. Exactly what I was looking for! Not only was I able to do a bit of softroading but I was able to setup camp near some spectacular views. Come jo...
Car Camping off the 395 | Inyo National Forest
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 месяца назад
On this adventure, I camped along the 395 on my way to Lake Tahoe to meet up some friends. I wanted to break up the trip in half and this was the perfect midway stopover. Plenty of space and was all by my lonesome. Just me, the trees and some good beer and food! And apologies for the clipped audio! Still trying to figure out a solution for when it gets a tad bit windy. Follow me on IG: instagra...
Solo Car Camping in the California High Desert | Trona Pinnacles
Просмотров 5 тыс.3 месяца назад
Trona Pinnacles had been on my list for quite some time and I finally had the opportunity to take the trip during the Memorial Day weekend. Lemme tell you...the tufa spires are just as captivating in real life as they look in the pictures. Very surreal to have a place like this only 3 hours away from Los Angeles. Also, I hadn't been camping in the heat AND high winds in a while so please enjoy ...
Chill Car Camping in Southern California | East Flats Campground

After fighting a bout of bronchitis the last few weeks, I'm finally back outside! Though initially, this trip didn't go as planned. The campsite I wanted to hit up had a road closure and then my main camera decided to crap out on me. But I just had to overcome, improvise and keep pushing! I ended up finding a spot that allows for dispersed camping near Jenks Lake. It was a great chance to test ...
Car Camping from Colorado to Sedona | Solo Road Trip
Просмотров 8806 месяцев назад
The last leg of the road trip started out in Colorado. I had originally planned to camp in Colorado but a change of plans extended my stay with my friends. On the way back towards home, I decided to check out the Great Sand Dunes. I am so glad that I did. Seeing the stark contrast between sand and snow was awe inspiring and a sight to behold. Though I couldn't stay long as I had a long trek tow...
Car Camping from Zion to Arches | Solo Road Trip

I've been wanting to go on a trip...somewhere far. To explore new lands, go hiking and of course car camping. To also test the CRV on a long distance journey. I got the opportunity to do just that in the form of a friend having a promotion ceremony out in Colorado. And that's where this journey began. I got to planning the first leg of the trip and decided to head first to Utah since I've never...
"Winter" Car Camping on a Southern California Beach | Thornhill Broome Campground @ Point Mugu SP

I needed to help one of my homies wrench on his rig up in Oxnard and so with that...another excuse to go camping! This time I wanted to do something I've never done before which was beach camping. I did some research and found out there was a campground at Point Mugu SP. I gotta tell you, there ain't nothing better than to wake up to the sounds of the ocean and the sand right at your doorstep. ...

Just a short little vid of a recent trip I did with wifey and close friends for the new years. It was our first time visiting Sequoia NP and dang we caught it just in time especially with all the snowfall. Going for such a short time did not do it justice and I cannot wait to go back! Exploring the Woods of the North Bay | Silent Solo Car Camping

Wifey and I were headed up to the Bay for a family wedding and thought it would be a great opportunity to do some car camping! Funny enough, this would be my first time camping in the North Bay even though I was born and raised in the area. Found a nice spot in Lagunitas at Samuel P. Taylor SP. It was a nice change of scenery and only wet my appetite to explore more of NorCal. Follow me on IG: ...
Unforgettable Solo Car Camping and Hiking Adventure Near Vegas | Valley of Fire SP

I had planned to attend the F1 Vegas GP and thought to myself, "Why not do some car camping while I'm out there?" So I did some research and found a spectacular camp spot within the Valley of Fire in Moapa Valley, Nevada. There's a particular energy when you enter the valley that you sense immediately. The views, vastness and geological structures are something that you just have to experience ...
Hike to a Tiny Waterfall then Cooking Breakfast | Millard Canyon Falls

So I had some leftover food from camping previously and didn't wanna waste it. So I told wifey: we're going on a hike then cooking up breakfast! We headed out to Millard Canyon to hike up to a well known tiny waterfall. Nice short hike and not too many folks on the trail. Soyrizo breakfast tacos were on the menu with some coffee made from BerryBird beans that we got back in Hawaii. Definitely w...
When camping doesn't go as planned...EXPLORE | Cougar Buttes

So I got too ambitious and thought I could find an open campsite at a pretty well established first come, first serve campground on a late Saturday afternoon in the Mojave Desert. And yup, that place was crackin'! But I didn't let that deter me from exploring and at least cooking up the dinner I had planned. I did a bit more driving and stumbled upon Cougar Buttes. Literally no one was around e...

Great vid! Set up is so good and practical!
Thanks!
Nice to put a voice to the videos! Classic rig, brutha! 🤙
Thanks bro!
Chicken adobo noice
Chill
Question! You had a foldable awning setup that attached to your roof rack that I saw in your big bear video. Which was that one?
It's a Big Agnes Sand Wash Tarp: www.bigagnes.com/products/sand-wash-tarp?srsltid=AfmBOoqH4GgG6TbBuHEZnlvU1xC6FumTYgV7gtkiMRyt5_7l_oNwgljV
Fam reppin that sinigang outdoors yessir
Yuuuup!
Do you keep the trash bag 24/7? I heard the trasharoos get sun damaged within a season
Yup I've kept it on for about a year now. I heard the same thing about the Trasheroo's so I just went this cheap route instead. And surprisingly this has held up even through the elements.
@@elijahdondada gotcha I also went with one w Amazon in case it doesn’t last long. I planned on removing it per trip, but the first test fit was annoying to get it fitting right. Likely end up leaving it on the next time I set it up lol
Looks great! The tires look way bigger than they are 😁
Thanks! I kinda wanna go a bit bigger in tire haha.
Epic!
Thanks!
Love your build bro.... everything is practical. I learned today that the CR-V has an OEM camping table, now that's pretty cool.
Thanks brotha! Keeping it practical and minimal were some of the key things I wanted with this build. The table just adds to the charm haha.
Nice setup!
Thanks cuzo!
Shoulda got a 3rd gen Rav 4
I was actually deciding between a first gen Rav4 and this at the time.
@@elijahdondada bruh...y u do dis 2 me... I was trolling... CRV's are legit... I camp out of a 2nd Gen Prius... I am in Los Angeles... Maybe I will run into you out there
@@camposvazquez lol oh dang. Well I'm glad I chose the CRV. But yea holler if you see me out there!
Tri-fold matress gang! I sleep better on it than on my home mattress 😅
Right?! My wife and I say the same thing when we sleep on it lol.
Just for my 4 runner and im thinking about doing something like this and not spend money on things that will weigh down my car and eat up hella gas. Just camp right out the back of the 4 runner.
Yep! Those were some of the things that made me go this route.
Noice!
Ahh yeeea thanks broham!
Do you have dashcam and back up cam?
Just a dash cam but I've been thinking about adding a back up cam too.
@@elijahdondada I definitely recommend the rear cam 👍
How about the oem side or rear nerf bars? Looks cool on it.
I'm actually not a fan of them lol.
Is this Cajun junction?
Yup next to it. I parked right in front of Mormon Rocks.
I got a couple questions 1 is how’s the bathroom situation and second what did the temperature drop to?
There's a few porta potties around which are pretty well maintained. At the time, temps were high 60's in the day and I believe dropped down to 50's at night.
Great set up man I’m a CRV owner thanks for sharing this awesome video.
Always dope to see fellow CRV owners. Thanks!
What about Maintenance that has been done ? It's a 2000 so ....
When I bought it, it had roughly 190k on the chassis and 70k on the replacement motor. Since then, I've driven about 34k and just did basic maintenance: timing belt, water pump, valve seals and adjustment, transmission and diff fluid. Also, just replaced most of the suspension bushings and regular oil changes. So far it's been a champ!
@@elijahdondada excellent. Thanks!
I’m a fan of the RD1 CRV. How many miles are you at now and what have you had to fix/replace as it has aged?

Finally!! i've been waiting for this video! regarding your lift, do you have adjustable upper control arms for front and rear? do you also use spacers for the trailarms? Lastly, how tall are you and how long is your bed?
Yea it was definitely time to make this vid haha. I'm just running factory upper control arms for both and no trailing arm spacer (though if I decide to go with bigger tires I just might have to get it). I'm about 5' 4" and the mattress itself is 6 feet.
THIS IS THE VIDEO WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR
I'm glad to have finally made it for y'all!
How many miles does it have?
It has about 224k on the chassis and 104k on the motor.
Dude! Been waiting for this video! Love your set up interior and exterior are sweet AF! Keep up the great videos… You’re my fave RUclipsr out there.
Always means a lot bro! Thank you for always supporting.
prob my fav crv build of all time!
I appreciate that..means a lot!
Such a nice rig
Thank you!
What light bar are you using on the rear hatch
It's from Harbor Freight: www.harborfreight.com/1200-lumen-led-rechargeable-underhood-work-light-58424.html
nice video....🤙🏼 what mattress did you use? is it conformable?
It's really comfortable! I got it off Amazon: amzn.to/3MA2p1W.
WOW I’ve found my twin! Love what you do brother thank you for sharing!
I appreciate it!
this is tight. Thanks for the chill video
Thanks!
Nice video! From one dude who likes camping Thornhill Broome in a CRV to another!
Can never go wrong with CR-V camping!
My guy is a master at filming these. You deserve way more viewers
Love these videos fr
I appreciate it!
Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Anytime!
Gotta give this place a try
Definitely check it out!
@@elijahdondada I've passed by there many times on my visits to the park.
Thanks for always leaving info for us to check these places out.
Is this east jenks lake campground?
Yup!
Truly love these videos, they bring my mind Peace :)
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching.
Dude that’s epic I’m planing to go for Labor Day weekend how was the road up there ? Good camping spots ?
Road is pretty manageable and it goes on for awhile. There's a few pullouts where people have camped before as well as some offshoot trails which lead to more areas where you can find a spot to camp. Just be sure to have a campfire permit if you plan to cook with gas and no campfires allowed. Have fun out there!
@@elijahdondada thx for reply happy trails
Thank you for this. I'm thinking of solo camping here in September. From Camarillo and never camped there. Driven by there hundreds of times.
It's pretty awesome if you can book a spot. Enjoy!
@@elijahdondada thank you
Love that spot, family camped there about 2 months ago .
Ain't nothing better than waking up to the ocean that's forsure.
Can I ask why you use levelers when it’s a flat surface? I have an suv and occasionally do car camping but never use them even when I park in gravel
The rear of my crv kinda sags a bit which I kinda notice even when laying flat. So I just use some levelers to get it just right.
your videos are like the korean camping videos but of Socal overlanding....nice! ...this is interesting...
Thanks! I follow a few silent camping RUclipsrs which pretty much influenced me to try it.
ive been going fishing and camping there since early 90s with my dad...after social media was born seems more busier....all best spots booked year around...lol
Yea especially during summer time too. Almost impossible haha.
Cant go wrong with that longsilog breakfast 😁
Breakfast of champions! lol
Always quality video brother. ❤
Appreciate it bro!
