When we play Wolfenstein, HOI4 or watch Man In the High Castle, we tend to forget that these events actually happened in real life to those who lived under Nazi Occupation during the war.
Imagine being a 19-25 year old young german man in July of 1940. Would felt like you were on top of the world, you might not of given a shit about politics but all you knew was Germany was strong and winning. Triumphantly sight-seeing Paris and climbing to the top of the Effiel tower to survey the land your army conquered in 6 weeks.
As a Wehraboo, I agree. The majority of edits with obnoxious music blaring over war footage are good short-term, but overall the ones that showcase things like infrastructure and overall quality of life as you said tend to be the better ones
It's truly haunting to think about how many of these smiling young men would lie cold in the mud only a few years later, blindly marching into the meat grinder at the behest of their leaders, who were so blinded by their senseless hate they couldn't care less about their deaths... Is there any ideology as detestable as faschism?
