Noam Chomsky is one of the greatest minds we have thankfully. But I am not sure, in regard to future positive relations with Russia, if he was actually referring to Emmanuel Macron instead of Victor Orban. Moreover, it is not only the republican party, it is also the democratic party that is unrecognisable. The US is not a democracy anymore, it is a plutocracy verging on dictatorship. It's history is witness to that.

*BUT* with dictatorships that arm themselves to the teeth like Russia, isn't it natural for Europe to seek the protection of the US? I'm too seeing the dangers in this as outlined in the video, but part of me feels Russia is corrupted beyond repair and hellbent on all out war with the West. The country seems to have ceased any investments in the education of its population and technology development decades ago and only focuses on disinformation and military growth, I don't understand how this can lead to anything than a devastating war in the Eurasia region.

Mr. Chomsky condemns Russia's partial withdrawal from the New Start Treaty, but then only briefly mentions the full withdrawal of the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces and Anti-Ballistic Missiles treaties. Such views on control of nuclear arms control are surprisingly one-sided for any unbiased, well informed intellectual.

Let me try to put this into perspective for you . If you are the leader per say of a giant country ,and the world has been buying your iron ores from you from the begining of time ,as you hold the abundance of said ores,precious metals ,then ,am I not right , in believing ,their is no way in the world ,Vladimir Putin or anyone within his governing body ,is going to stand back ,not even a half an inch ,and let Ukraine or any other country ,nation ,conglamorate ,try to come in and negotiate any value ,that is not to their liking . These differences of ' running powers ' will continue on the battle field ,until there is a surrender or they come to a bargaining agreement.,this may be a possibility ,if it is ,presented ,properly ,and proposals are made and drawn up and fully understood by The Countries involved. Im kind of upset . I found this video and have watched it over and over ,and i think this guy Noam Chomsky is pretty darn intelligent.Than I wander......this guys like smarter then the whole Pentagon and FBI together,so i dunno im just sitting here wandering ....if there is a way ,he may be able to ,lend a hand ,to our specialists at the state departmet . In all honesy he is a Linguist ,so does that not mean he speaks Russian fluently? I am pretty sure William Burns ,and Anthony Blinken,both have tried ' certain negotiations ' which from what I can tell ,have seem to have made nothing change? Why they split,I do not exactly know,but I do know this ,through history,going back in time ,when large Empires split or part ways,and decide to no longer be allies ,all powers ,that were once in The Union,start to falter,and they start to crumble ,and they start to lose the credibility and they start to lose the respect they once possessed,when they were one whole ,giant super power .

He sees the criminality of Putin's behavior, without automatic association to the Cuba crisis when the USA was ready to commence The Third WW because of Russian nuclear missiles less then 100km away from American cost. Chomsky used to criticize America or administration many times in his books , but never just used "criminal" qualification without explanation. Three years ago Zelenski publicly announced his plan of installing US nuclear weapons reaching the capital of Russia in three minutes or so. After that Putin launched "the criminal" attack on Ukraine, as Chomsky put it. Now my point. In the old times, (you are free to choose the exact time) most intelectuals were praised for sanity, deep thought, brilliant ideas and such. Now watch this old professor, bamboozled with one sided cheep, basically propaganda-like talk. It seems as if he didn't move from comfortable CNN spectator's couch. His level of "analysis" is under every intellectual criteria. Only low class undergraduates allow themselves such an unilateral thinking.
