    Well I think the whole shonen rival dynamic in anime that was popularized by Goku and Vegeta, inspired the secondary Rider dynamic shown mostly from Ryuki onwards, so that's another indirect reference. The Ultraman Super Fighter Legend OVA is just DragonBall with Ultramen, that show's version of Mephiles is apparently heavily based off Piccolo. Ultraman Agul and Mebius both have attacks that are similar to a Kamehameha And Kamen Rider New Den-O is a future disendent of Den-O that has a sword, kinda sorta like Future Trunks.

    I like the usage of religious images in classic works, they hold a lot in these stories compared to what many may consider “for adults” in the US. I appreciate the efforts of these authors in trying to make the world a more compassionate and better place.

    I just don't know why they are putting them out on DVD, I mean I understand the format isn't HD but they still could put them on Blu-ray SD. doing that would allow them to not have to compress the video media like they are to put so many episodes on a single DVD, plus doing so will allow them to keep the same box set formatting that they used for the Blu-ray releases.

    Amazon has so far been my first and only dive into Showa, but it was one to remember. I pretty much agree with everything you said, though i did find that the second half still had some good episodes here and there. What im really glad about is that they went back to Amazon being a wildman in future crossovers. The one i specifically remember is Kamen Rider Fourze: Rocket Drill States Of Friendship, in which Amazon delivers Fourze a new astroswitch while Fourze and friends celebrate him coming to their school. I think its really fitting that Amazon got a special in a season thats all about friendship and communication. Also love that the Amazon ViStamp from Revice has a mole design. Really cool reference

    I remember always dismissing Ultraman anytime when I was younger (though I remember that Fox Kids Ultraman Tiga opening). The first time I actually watched anything Ultraman-related was a random video that auto-played after a Sentai video, and it was either a trailer or commercial for R/B. I watched it a bit, then dismissed it and f-ed off to go look up a place to watch the Sentai Zyuohger. A TokuTuber I'm subscribed to one day did a video kind of as an intro to anyone interested in toku, and had some cool clips from different Ultra series, and IIRC, Ultraman Orb caught my eye. I ended up finding it on Amazon Prime Video and fell in love with the show - to the point of ordering the Blu-ray for the full series, both movies, and the prequel series. Then I decided I'd watch Geed next, but I realized there was a whole build-up for that. So I watched all the Ultraman Zero movies and specials and then watched Geed (got the Blu-rays for those, too) and fell in love with that, too (especially Geed Magnificent). It was at that point that I realized it was too late for me, and I had fallen down the Ultra-sized rabbit hole! 😂

    That's a nice story. My first introduction to Ultraman was when I was very little, maybe 4 or 5 years old where I can remember vividly watching this cool looking alien fighting other cool looking alien. At that time, I wouldn't know but now after I looked it up and watching the movie, it was Ultraman Tiga the Movie: The Final Odyssey where the scene I watched when I was a little kid was the scene when Tiga fighting the red villain one( I can't remember his name for the life of me). But the one that was really sticking with me actually was Ultraman Cosmos when I was in primary school. The first time I was watching the series was through the third movie of Ultraman Cosmos by watching it through a DVD player. The CD was bought by my older brother. The scene that really got me was when Musashi's(the main character and the host) friend gather up to revive him and Ultraman Cosmos, the scene where all the monsters that was saved by Cosmos team up to fight the aliens and also the scene where Cosmos and Justice fused to become Ultraman Legend. This was the legendary and precious moment in my childhood as a little Ultraman fan.

I feel Ultraman has been trying be international for a while and it seems to be working but haven’t really seen anything for Kamen Rider as of this moment. Especially with Ultraman Rising coming out a lot more people have been getting into Ultraman. I do get what people are saying about Kamen Rider I do somewhat agree but do feel like that might change with Ultraman Rising

    Hi Henshin John, As someone who is in the Godzilla fandom, hanging out primarily in reddit and youtube, and probably there for memes, toys, and obscure trivia, I have met luckily little toxicity (or I'm just ignorant perhaps) I'm so sorry for what happened to you and wish for the best of you. As a Asian straight(?) male with autism, I'm in this weird spot where I'm in this entitled position compared to others, but still regarded as 'less' to a straight white male (at least in the western world) Regardless, I'll try my best to give my fellow G-fans safe space. Hold your horses there Tonto. Raw talent is not neurodivergense. Because the whole family is talented in autoracing. Papa is an expert mechanic and engineer, dude built both cars from the ground up with a keen eye on handling and aerodynamics. Racer x is an accomplished driver, with exceptional skill in combat. His sense of justice is why he became racer x when he found out that the races are being used for nefarious reasons. Speed is a very exceptional driver with a keen eye. Him going off track isn't even new. Going off track is legal as long as you're not deliberately causing a wreck. It's a gentleman's agreement that no driver goes off track unless to avoid a wreck or if there's no alternative route. For example, if you're inside of a three wide going into a two wide turn. You can go off track for the pass into the turn, and it's a legal move. There's also been a increasing number of tracks with multiple paths to take. Any path is legal as long as you're going with traffic.

    • @henshinjohn
      @henshinjohn 2 месяца назад

      Hey there. I am not dismissing their accomplishments, nor does me saying a character shares neurodivergent traits dismiss their talent. While I did state Speed in the 2008 movie specifically is neurodivergent, that was said in hyperbole and I even mentioned that probably wasn't the filmmakers intentions. The point of the video was to not say Speed is neurodivergent but rather using Speed's story in the movie to relate to the experiences me and other neurodivergent people face in reality. I hope this clears things up for you

    • @Demolitiondude
      @Demolitiondude 2 месяца назад

      @henshinjohn your still confusing neurodivergency with talent. It's like calling a kindergarten neurodivergent for wanting to become a paleontologist or astronaut. Speed, even in the 2008 film, is passionate about racing even at a young age, and with family who's also famous in the scene and talented in different fields in the same area, he pursuit his goals and got the trophy. And that obsession never affected his school. There's also a scene in the grand prix that proves your theory wrong. Speed restarting the Mach 6. Speed and his chief mechanic are struggling to figure out how to restart the car when one of the electrical circuits is out. Speed using the vibration from the passing cars that 5th gear wasn't out of commission. To be fair, why there's a clutch pedal for 5th would be neurodivergent when the gear shift is more viable option.

    • @henshinjohn
      @henshinjohn 2 месяца назад

      Again, it's you who are misinterpreting my video. I stated already that I don't believe Speed in the film is neurodivergent and when I do call him neurodivergent it's in hyperbole. I only use his experiences in this film to relate to the struggles me and other neurodivergent people face. I don't know how I can make that any clearer for you, and quite frankly, I'm done entertaining this conversation. Have a good day

    The "theory" that all of the Showa Great Leaders are the same person (with the exception of Gedon, Garander, the Golgom, and the Crisis Empire) is 100% true. The Great Leader led Shocker, Gel Shocker, Destron, GOD, and Black Satan, and orchestrated the creation of Gedon. This was all revealed near the end of Kamen Rider Stronger. Garander was an independent organization, and Golgom and the Crisis Empire were completely unrelated to the Great Leader. This wasn't some afterthought; there are references in Kamen Rider V3 to Shocker that suggest the Great Leader is the same guy.

    I was a kid in Hawai'i in the early '70s, a card-carrying member of Generation Kikaida.* V3 was *OUR* Kamen Rider, and we all loved him. Miyauchi Hiroshi would even do PSAs (in Japanese, subtitled in English, just like on KIKU) as Kazami Shiro, warning all us kids not to imitate the fight moves from the show. This followed and supported school district policy which discouraged students from beating the snot out of each other on the playground after watching the show. Most of fifteen years ago, I bought the Generation Kikaida Kamen Rider set (among other toku released by that company) and shared it with my mainland born and raised wife, a sci-fi/fantasy nerd like me, and she loved it! We only just finished watching the original Kamen Rider series (an excellent subtitled version), and have started a re-watch of V3. We've seen quite a lot of the earlier Heisei era Kamen Rider, as well, but began to lose interest in later series as the themes and presentations began to stray from what we enjoy. Still, that left plenty to enjoy. =^[.]^= *Generation Kikaida refers to kids who lived in that era of tokusatsu in Hawai'i; many of our favorite actors came to visit for the Hawai'i State Fair or other expositions, and we had access to many of the cool imported toys and other merch at the local shopping mall. It was a kind of golden age. =^[.]^=

    As much as I like Miyauchi Hiroshi's portrayal of Kamen Rider V3, I think Taki was given short shrift by not becoming the next Rider. I understand that he did get to play at being a rider in the "Kamen Rider Spirits" manga, but, *DAYUM!* he punched WAY over his weight, literally and figuratively! Poor Goro got subbed out, too. I liked that kid! =^[.]^=

    Honestly the main problem I have with comparing the two is that Ultraman is more of a sci-fi/giant monster show than a superhero show. It has its roots in Godzilla and Toho monster movies (as Ultraman creator Eiji Tsuburaya was also one of the cocreators of Godzilla) but Kamen Rider has its roots in manga and is more of a superhero series in terms of structure. Ultras are often treated in the story as the giant aliens they are, and thus arent developed as characters since theyre more of a force of power (like Godzilla) and therefore dont get as much development as a Rider does. The Ultra's host/human form is often the focus of characterization, and how much of that carries over to the ultra side of things varies between shows. Tokusatsu is a medium, not necesarily a genre. In terms of genre, Ultraman is sci-fi (occasionally fantasy) that, much like Godzilla, uses monsters and aliens to portray lots of different themes, often giving biting social commentary (great examples being Jamila, Metron, and Evolu just off the top of my head). Ultraman, despite featuring heroes that (especially nowadays) interact with each other in a shared multiverse, isnt really a "superhero show" most of the time in my opinion, thus comparing it with Rider is kinda weird to me.

    32:10 "Mothra being a very anti-capitalist monster" "Messages that capitalism is bad..." This sounds so hilarious but if we treat this seriously. Let me get this straight. You think the creators of these movies felt the way as you on economic matters? That they had some fringe beliefs about economy that majority of people don't share for obvious reason especially those who know the consequences of lack of economic liberties or the right to free exchange of goods? Unless you use this word without knowing what it means and instead use it to describe something vague like "something that's bad and has also to do with money but isn't connected with the government" like greedy criminals from Japan replacing greedy criminals from abroad from the original Mothra? Because people who actually know something about economy and don't want to lose their freedom would still be definitely against the villains from Mothra vs Godzilla. It's especially weird to assume such extremism in movies scripted by Sekizawa but none of that was part of Honda's philosphy either. Although a lot of critics want to see in some of his movies criticisms of Western influence (The H-Man, Mothra, Matango) or praise of Japanese traditionalism (The Human Vapor). Or the opposite (Battle in Outer Space, Atragon) in a lot of cases the movies were purely story-driven not ideological. We know where he felt he had something to say like in Godzilla or Atragon. When it was personal to him. But some critics looking for evidence that Honda was pro-foreign but later became anti-foreign and then back again (between 1958 and 1963 it would mean he and his writers changed their stance like six times) maybe they overstate how definitive they felt in certain areas and how much of their stances were poured into the films. Especially if we know behind the scens stories of how these films came tobe. And how we know that a lot of Mothra was shaped by Toho's deal with Columbia and that Atragon was actually an anti-nationalist film shaped by the experiences of both Honda and Sekizawa (and that personal experience is why that mostly apolitical man made an exception for this particular film). It really sounds to me like the repeat of the same situation when people tried to project the same messages on the original King Kong. Which makes a bit less sense when you remember that the creator of King Kong actually killed communists (at least two of them with his knife) because he fought with them on ideological grounds for which he's celebrated as a hero btw. Sounds like if you lack the information about the context you can just make the case for any work of art supporting any belief even fringe ones.

    Was Toriyama able to have all these references without infringing on copyright?
