Two tone bar tape wrap with two different bar tapes.
How to combine two bar tapes on a single handlebar, with minimum bulk. You should of course do this when the handlebar is mounted on your bike with shifters and cables installed!

Remove shifter paddle SRAM - Gut a SRAM shifter for 1x systems
Просмотров 17 тыс.8 лет назад
Are you converting from a 2x drivetrain to 1x? Here is a video showing how to remove the shifter paddle of the left shifter so you don't have to buy a separate left brake-only shifter! It's very easy, if you have an angled allen key. If not you have to take off the brake lever, see other videos on RUclips on how to do that.
The tape should be wrapped in the other direction
Brevity is the soul of wit. Thank you.
how heavy is that lever without the shifting guts ?
This could also be very practical if you consider future changes to cable setup. You only need to replace half of your tape.
Good job
I’ve just acquired a force 22 shifter that has had this conversion, but the lever is floppy and doesn’t return to position after depressing the brake. Has something gone wrong in the conversion?
I just did this conversion to my rival lever. Seems like the return spring mechanism is part of the shift lever, so once you remove those bits, there's nowhere to put the return spring back on the brake lever. My assumption is that the spring tension from the brake calipers will be enough to work for the brake lever. I can let you know once I get my bike put back together, if you're interested.
Brennan Davis So I dialled a bit more tension into the caliper and it’s all good now. The return is not as snappy as full setup with the return spring would be, but it’s no problem.
Has anyone done this with Shimano (non-hydraulic) brifters?
How much do the guts and shift lever weigh together? As in how much weight is saved by removing them?
35grams
is this doable if the shifter is still on the bars with brake hose attached?
You can't remove the pin while the STI is on the handlebars. However, at least on newer models, you should be able to remove just the lever (keeping the guts inside).
@@CanIHasThisName thanks
Awesome, this made it so easy. Thanks.
Just did this with a Rival hydraulic shifter brake and it almost exactly the same. Only difference is instead of the hex wrench, you screw in a screw (I used a 4-32) into the shaft and pull it out.
do you screw the screw in from the bottom of the lever? i cant see how you do this with a sram force hydro lever...
Still working in 2019 ;). SRAM Force 22 left side. You can actually push a 2mm key down through the brake cable path at the top, directly onto the shaft. This was much easier!
Just saved me about ahundy bucks, cheers! 👌
スラムしか出来ないのでしょうか? シマノは? カンパニョーロは?
What groupset is this?
Old sram force 10 speed shifters.
Great vid I found it easier to push the pin through the front...squeeze the lever and push screwdriver/Allen key above brake cable bracket
Elegant.
it took me a while to realize the music was Jolly Old Saint Nicholas
I think you need new bars....
is it the same procedure for hydro brakes? i'm not sure how, or why, you should know, but i'll ask anyway!
I would like to know the answer to this also.
me too? Any Ideas`?
@@Ghostina1 Pretty much exactly yep.
I just did this...and it was very simple. At the point of using the 2mm allen key to push the pin out, I actually had to push quite hard to get the pin pushed far enough to grab it with a pliers. Otherwise, I had no issues completing the steps. This video was simple and perfect. Thanks!
+Jake Glad it worked for you! I also had to push fairly hard on the gear shaft to push it out, but nothing extreme.
