Are you going to be working on this in videos to come?
So far, it's gotten new tuners, frets, pots and a cap, and been rewired. If no one else wants to take on the scalloped fretboard, or can bear the paint job, I may revisit the project. It plays fine though, and I have a lot of other projects to put my energy towards at the moment.
i had one in the 1980s it cost me new $125 ,it had such a good sound .and playability .i traded it for a real ovation usa elite ,,i wish i still had the ae38 ,crazy right $800 for the elite standard it was not as good .this is not a joke //
It's important to take care of them over time. also, a setup might help it play better, who knows. I enjoy the cheap USA ones with the metal neck too.
Should i take this or fender champion 100?
If you're are looking at cheaper older amps, the condition of the amp itself should be the deciding factor. Knob crackle, is no a big deal to me, but excessive hum or hiss makes it hard to mic up to record... If both amps are in perfect shape inside and out, I'd probably go for the Fender for the cleans and gains in the pre-amp and the Eminence speaker. But I'd still like to have a Marshall around to use once in a while for the gain from the pre-amp if nothing else!

What a cool guitar I've never heard of. Seems like it can handle all kinds of different styles.
It's a lot like a Les Paul, but the pickups are especially special.
I had THAT exact axe! It featured Synsonic pickups and Kahler trem. Where'd you get it?
I paid the asking price from a guy on Facebook. When we met up, he was not happy about parting with it, and only now do I appreciate why! Thanks for the info. The trem is awesome, but I didn't see any markings on it.
Synsonic...? No idea what that is, but I'm pretty sure the bridge pickup is J-50 BC

The speakers rock. Sound cranked at low volume, and can get loud and resonant like a tiny half stack. The bass cube with the four speakers is cool too.

What nut and saddle size did you recommend buying for this guitar? What about replacement tuners? I need to replace mine on my AA-31
NO...I bought one newly it has not arrived yet. Seems as work are to be done one that one too. ☹ Saddles non adjustable...🤬and I suspect that regular ones that I got an shitload of will not fit in place? An Wilkinson bridge are to be bought as I do not shim. Made in Indonesia or China? I newly founded out Ibanez making these also in China..I hope NOT a made in China. Problems problems and problems perhaps I should skip guitar and play my keyboard only.
A lot of manufacturers use shims in the neck pockets right out of the factory (small strip of sandpaper). On cheaper guitars, it seems like a good way to fix high action. If the worry is tongue bend over the years, using a shim that covers the full area of the pocket would protect the neck from bending.

If it works, that's a great price! Make sure it works though, test it out first, as with any amp. For such a low price though, expect to have to clean the pots with deoxit, or get it a new speaker, or the reverb might not work...
@@discgolffunvideos hey, so by the same I bought it, the amp was working for a day until the whole power section blew up and burnt the whole power section of the circuit. Sad to see it blow but it was a good opportunity to use it as parts because i had a crate head that needed another transformer and some knobs so not all was wasted. I also turned that body into a 1x12 cab as well so again, not all was lost. But it could have been cool that it would’ve lived !!
Any guitar neck specs? Slim C type or thick bulky?
It like a cross between the C shape and a U shape, I'd say. So, more like a Modern Strat crossed with a 60's Tele... not as similar to a thick 50s Les Paul or a Wizard neck.
Very Clever! You can get the last bit of slight pushed-in dust cap by rubbing some duct tape over those spots and then pull up gently.

Does that fretbar work well for you on leveling or do you have to fight with it? Is it accurate? So many people tell me i need the full length metal bar that costs upwards of $100.
I think its more accurate than the larger one. It keeps the radius well, and you can add a little fallaway on just the last few frets easily. As far as fighting with it- that all depends on the grit of sandpaper you stick on.

I never said "volt" at all. The model is called Valvestate 80 V.
I really like that little fender! I have a rumble 500 that I absolutely love. I would love to have a little older one like this. The way you can set it down at a angle is really cool too. Hopefully I will come across one at a good price someday. Thanks for the content bro 🤘.
I guess it's a thing with this model, because the master volume in the model I'm servicing had the same problem. You never mentioned why you had to hacksaw the pot cap, was it glued ?
YES! Infact when I tried to pry the knob off, it pulled the whole shaft out of the base of the pot. Missed that edit.
Very Nice! Servicing same amp and I had a problem with pots also, but in my case it was a full replacement. Thanks for the wiring. P.S. Have you discharged Filter Caps in this model? I tried but to my surprise there was no votage on them, only on the big cap by the reverb circuit
