Spanish Lady - Gaelic Mist
Gaelic Mist sing Spanish Lady at Bladnoch Folk and Blues Festival.
As I came down through Dublin City, at the hour of twelve at night,
Who should I spy, but a Spanish Lady
Washing her feet by the candlelight
First she washed them, then she dried them
Over a fire of amber coals
In all me life I ne'er did see, a maid so sweet about the soul
Chorus
Whack for the Too Rye Ooh Ray Lady,
whack for the Too Rye Ooh Rye Aye
As I came back through Dublin City at the hour of Half past Eight,
Who should I spy but the Spanish Lady,
brushing her hair in the broad daylight
First she brushed it , then she tossed it
On her lap was a silver comb
In all me life I ne'er did see, a maid so fair since I did roam.
Chorus

Cho: Oh Grace just hold me in your arms ad let this moment lin...

New duo Gaelic Mist sing a John Prine song 'Speed of the Sound of Loneliness. "That song just came all at once. I had this picture in my head of this old photograph - I think it was in Life magazine - of one of the astronauts in the '50s with his face all contorted by G-force. I was thinking of somebody's heart being pulled apart by G-force like that, from going through this real intense breaku...

New duo Gaelic Mist sing the Irish Folk song Carrickfergus. This is an outdoor recording so please excuse the wind and the sheep! "Carrickfergus" is a typical lament of an Irish expatriate who wishes he was back in his homeland. The origins of the song are unclear, but it has been traced to an Irish language song, "The Sick Young Lover". Cairn Holy 1 2 are two remarkably complete Neolithic buri...

@reastudios up with the meldoy! Who knows? But just because someone slaps a copyright claim on a traditional or older piece it doesn't mean they actually wrote it.

Well done; this version reminds me of the pubs of Ireland, where on any given night one might expect local singers and players to gather and sing, like this. Oh, please God, may we not go through a war like the Great War ever again.
