    Why not plant marigolds or lavender , mosquitoes don’t like them and they stay way . Instead for creating a breeding colony.? They also dislike rosemary and basil .

    I have a comment, do not put a humming bird feeder on your balcony. The syrup will turn into vinegar and kill the humming birds, better put more flowering plants to feed the little birds .❤

    I would like to say that lining up a cocofibre pot with plastic defeats the purpose of what cocofibre provides - good drainage!

    • @SuburbanGardening365
      @SuburbanGardening365 5 месяцев назад

      Yes, I agree. That is the reason I cut the Lining. I want the water to peculate down to the bottom and not drain out the sides. Thanks for the Comment.

    I had an awful mosquito issue last year and I don’t want to use a pest control service this year; I do not want to eliminate other insects which I now realize I did last year. How often do you change out the dunks and how do you know how many you need?

    • @SuburbanGardening365
      @SuburbanGardening365 5 месяцев назад

      I completely understand. I have all the same issues. I check the Dunks as often as once a week. I put new Dunks in every two weeks. Many times I only need to use a half Dunk. We have had a lot of rain lately so I am constantly emptying the accumulated water. I found a new product that I've added to my regiment. They are Mosquito Bits. Twice a month I sprinkle a few in wet areas like plant saucers. I am determined to slow these mosquitos down this season. I wish you all the success with your effort as well. Thanks for the great comment. Sonia

      I'm sorry to hear you're not able to find them. For a sixteen inch pot, I think you'll need to use a twelve inch liner or bigger if you could find them. • @SuburbanGardening365
      @SuburbanGardening365 6 месяцев назад

      I'm so sorry to hear that. We have gophers in my back garden and I have to put chicken wire underneath some of my plants (like my artichokes) so the gophers won't eat them. These critters can be such a nuisance. If it is any consolation, you can use that compost in containers as well. Best of luck to you. Thanks a bunch for your comment. 👍🌱

    I learned this a couple of years ago on Linda Vater's channel, and IT WORKS! So easy, too. Mosquito Bits in a red bag by Summit. I ordered from Amazon, but since then, I have seen it in Lowes. Safe in birdbaths, fish ponds, around pets, plants and kids. I even sprinkle some in bowls of water I keep around for stray animals here in the country. Kills mosquito larvae within 24 hours! You will never again see them swimming around in your bird baths, etc. again. I sprinkle them around the house in my mulch and border grasses, too. Also good for fungus gnats in house plants or sun rooms. I had a terrible mosquito 8:02 problem until I started using this. I apply maybe twice a year here in SC, zone 8. One of the best garden products ever!
