Cambridge and Oxfordian's orientalist romantic stories disappoints when you hit the ground running in Asia. Take your time, read in this instance Tajiks and Afghans history . there are many literatures written by Ottoman and Persian writers will open your horizon.

Of course, the locals were suspicious of your presence with your foolish "cover story Request". Nobody is that foolish to believe, that you travel all the way from UK to their village, just to hear their "language". Incredible. What is your real Agenda ? You look very suspicious to me, just by studying your facial expressions and your Eyes, and of course your intrusive (agenda based) "questions" give you away immediately.

That fruit is a quince. It's quite a hard fruit. In Hungary where I live, they make a compote or a jelly out of it. Personally, not my cup of tea.
