i also enjoy listening to people sort of talk to themselves, it's cozy! i can really relate to what you were saying about not automatically giving people the sort of reaction they expect/are hoping for - even when i really try to seem enthusiastic/happy/etc, it's sometimes not received as genuine (which in a way makes sense, because although the emotions are genuine, i'm giving a performance of what i think my outward reaction "should" be) and it can definitely be a painful point of friction with people who don't know or understand me well.
@@tiny-yaga I always feel a little self conscious to begin with then I sort of forget I'm being filmed (and choosing to upload it to the internet haha) and relax a bit after a while. You've expressed that sentiment so well 🖤
Love watching you put decorations on pages whilst I do the same to mine. Hope the end of your year is restful🫶
@GeorgiaJournals glad this kept you company well. Thank you + ditto ☺️
🖤 I can relate to your comments on resolutions. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely loved your walk-through and all of the creatives ways you document your life on your journal. Subscribed. Happy new year!
So nice to hear about your pages, as always. Seeing the sticker of “Kuoleman puutarha” in your book makes me so happy! 🍀
I still really like those day of the week stickers, they look so good with your spreads! Edit: glad to have helped the lightbulb moment with the books in different covers :)
lovely video, alex! thanks for sharing <3 also... i love that sticker of apollo from animal crossing 🤩
First ❤
very clever with the pencil board and the spine charm! love both those ideas
@@rileyvanderzee thanks, credit where it's due to Atiyah and PJ but I like to think added my own twist though haha
just wanted to say your videos are my favorite way to end a week and relax before starting again on mondays 😅 love hearing your thoughts and the way you usually walk us through your set-ups and this was briliant, since i'm starting to think about my next year's set-up as well. thank you 🤍
@@acompanyofnotes oh this is lovely! I try and be as consistent as possible because I love a routine and have a couple of folks who I watch as part of my weekly routine too and I know how comforting it can be. I'm looking forward to seeing your 2025 book(s) too!
I see now what you did with the pencil board. I ended up buying one for myself. I'm a bit disappointed that my gel pens aren't any good in the Hobonichi notebook, but I have a nice ball-point pen to use instead.
@@heyyou2720 a lot of folks are having trouble with the paper this year, it's a shame. Hope you get on ok with the ballpoint :-)
My December quote is from North Woods by Daniel Mason, "Now sing us a December song To ease the cold of winter night. The year, we fear, is not for long, As is the day, as is the light."
@@devinlacy4914 this is lovely. I might add it to my commonplace book. Thank you for sharing it.
I just realized I wasn't subscribed but these videos have been bringing me so much peace this season! I also appreciate you saying the things that you aren't keen on in your own setup, those things can be huge bothers for me so I like when someone gives me the good details, hahaha. Happy planning, friend!!!
@@saracherrie1405 thanks :D oh yeah I'm never going to be not critical of my books hahah. I think I'm always sort of treating it like a puzzle or system I want to refine as well as a creative outlet so I'm always looking to fix stuff or note what doesn't work
Really enjoy watching your videos Alex! i'm especially envious of your TKmaxx ghostie journal! great find :D
@HausofHauntings thank you! I'm so glad I picked it up. It's very handy to cause it's got a little slot to slide a pen in :-D
Watching this while journalling after a very sensory overwhelming day and it's super comforting ❤️🩹 thank you✨
@@home.sick27 I'm glad this has been helpful for you 🖤
Not danish but scandi and I can confirm, w is pronounced v most of the time, so while i can't be a 100% sure (especially when it comes to a surname) my guess is you pronounced the name correctly!
@@home.sick27 this is handy to know thank you :D
Thank you for keeping me company this morning, as always it is so lovely to see your books, and hear the thoughts behind the Hon set up! Especially after having the privilege to see it in person 🍀
thank you :-D i just finished filming a more in depth chat about the hon for this week so hopefully more good times to come haha!
the dancing skeleton kind of looks like the death dance in Verges
@@irenemestre4999 this wasn't a term I was familiar with but looking into it you're spot on. It seems like an interesting tradition. I'll have to read into it more. The image I pulled from Instagram was a black and white photo and there was another figure in it wearing a party dress (I've covered them with a sticker) so I always assumed it was a photo from a Halloween party back when black and white film was the norm
@alexthomascreative i love obscure european traditions that reveal the medieval obsession with death like this one... there's a bunch and they are all very interesting!
I always enjoy these a lot!
I love that your associations between neurodivergence/diversity and nature are represented in your book! Can’t wait to see how you use the cousin next year
@GeorgiaJournals thank you. I love reading about gender diversity, mycology, natural history so when I read about autism stuff it all feels very woven in. I feel like I fudge explaining it in videos but it feels like a network of themes in my head haha. I'm buzzing for the cousin after doing a bit more setup in the last few days.
i really like the way you’ve been decorating your books! esp the covers of the commonplace ones :) i hope the Hon works well for you in the upcoming year!
@@autisticbucky thank you. I think often I like the decorating more than the actual journaling :')
The Hon is looking great already. I look forward to see how you fill in the daily pages in 2025. I've been deciding to buy a Hobonichi pencil board or not. They seem useful and it gives me an excuse to visit the stationary store again. I decided that I'm not going to decorate every journal entry and that I'll also try to combine most of my writing in one book. I love watching creative spreads on RUclips but not so much making them.
@@heyyou2720 thank you :D I think practicality wise you could probably live without one but I do find them very handy myself. Since filming this I've found a way of further incorporating one into my system. I've glued an every day pocket from hobonichi to one then I've slipped my commonplace key inside the pocket - so it will be easy for me to reference through the year :D
Thank you for the new video! ✨ Glad to see you starting A5 Hobonichi journey, definitely more room for deco and memory keeping. And ufff, can totally relate to the 'new-year new planner-fear' when you just want to keep things nice and tidy, but then few scratches here and some folds there start to happen, arghhh..i find it so annoying 🙈 But once i'm few pages in i forget all about them, lol. Btw, try ironing that wrinkled corner with very low heat, might help (hopefully), fingers crossed 🤞
@@jenzwald thank you :D you're spot on. At the moment it feels like a pristine artifact I should only handle with those fancy gloves they use at museums 😂 but it will feel very loved soon enough I'm sure
Thank you for sharing your experiences and exploring your life and how you do it
What is the brand name of your TN style notebook?
@@abigailmcleod3206 they were made by Megan Rhiannon (you can find her channel on here by searching her name). She made them for her own use last year but moved to a different system. She had some of them left over so I bought them from her. I'm not sure if she has any available still.
ahhh i love the labubu plushie 🥹😭 the little haaaands!! edit: also yay for living your crossbody dreams ✨✨
Thank you so much for this video <3 i finished my assigment in 50 minutes that i've been putting off for way to long. Thank you for the company 😊
glad i could help in my own little way!
💖i have a little tinbox with a grumpy bear on it as my "on the go" stimtoolbox aka. grumpy box :) There are some sour candy in it, a WICK inhale stick (i love the strong smell of it when i am in public transport or in busy cities etc, because it kinda resets my nose :D), a fidgetspinner, a ibuprofen, one of these little acupressure bits from a acupressuremat, highly recommend for stronger stim, and a little 5cm sparkly glitter water sticks (i dont know how to call them) At home, i have a bigger box with the same things, but even more bigger stimtools.
@@joanah8267 I like the sound of the sour candy and the wick stick. I have ginger chews in my bag for grounding and travel sickness but I think some other strong smells/tastes could be handy
thank you for sharing!! <3 I love your communication cards. I made some for me on cute DinA7 japanese memopads and i laminated and punched them. I have them together on a keyring, so i can clip them on my sunflowerlanyard. :) it is really practical for being outside in public, i can show it directly.
@@joanah8267 thank you. Yours sound very handy. I keep thinking to myself I might need to get a laminator. I design bookmarks sometimes to and it would be helpful for those.
Just starting field notes for edc. U love the way you’ve organized your journal. Thanks for posting. 😊
Love this. I live in the states and agree 1000 percent with your comment about people seeking out comfort and nostalgia because of all the "rubbish" happening right now. Seems everyone started decorating for the holidays the day after the elections,
thanks for the tour of your stim box! i remember watching megan's video about it as well & thinking i should do something like that, so this was a good reminder 🍀
really loved this video! your books are so inspiring. ☺️ as a fellow autistic trying to learn to unmask, its nice to see what tools you find useful. thank you for speaking so candid and vulnerable. 💛 i need to find some good noise cancelling headphones… i used to have sony ones but sold them. 😅 also crystals were one of my childhood special interests!
@@autisticbucky thanks, I felt quite nervous ahead of publishing this I won't lie 😅 I used to love looking at them in museums when I was little! Then in my late teens and into adulthood is when I started looking into the symbolism/properties people attach to them
i appreciate this video so much most people closer to me dont know im autistic so its hard to explain/normalize what i need without feeling like... i dont know, that im overreacting or immature rather than just struggling. so i guess hearing you talk about things makes me feel less bad idk explaining feelings is hard lol
@@gabmatth I've struggled and do struggle with those feelings often to, so you're not alone. I'm glad I could help.
Thanks for sharing, it looks lovely!! Also, your voice is just so soothing!
would you do another journal with me?
@@IoMachis I've got some catching up to do from the last few days so I might do this for this week's video :-)
Thank you so much for sharing. It was very helpful.
YES about the headphones pushing glasses into the sides of your head! This is 100% what I deal with too! I can't quite afford those nice ones yet so I just deal with it best I can and take breaks. Someday I'll upgrade ^^ edit: Also I'd love to get a printable copy of your communication cards. Your illustrations are so nice! But I understand that making a bunch of cards is probably a lot of work so no pressure ^^
@@CoryNDavis thank you. The communication cards are on my to do list at some point. Probably in the new year :-)
I loved this! 🖤 Thanks so much for being vulnerable & sharing! So much of what you said regarding items you use I can relate to & when I saw your acupuncture ring thingy 🤣🤦🏻♀️ I can’t remember the name of it, I was like omg I must find mine because that thing is sooooo soothing, I’d completely forgot about it! (as I loose everything.) I know there’s something going on with me, autistic, adhd 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know, but I believe my Mom is autistic for many reasons & it’s not until you look back on things & educate yourself that somethings click into place is it. My daughter is always telling me I am & she feels she is a little too, maybe one day we will get this looked into, however I have no clue how unless I win the lottery, lol, so please know your vulnerability is helping others as you’ve helped me understand much more & I’m beyond grateful for that!! Love everything you do sweet & have a lovely Sunday evening! 🖤
@@Thewillowmoon this is lovely, thank you. If you watch videos like this and find other resources that help/support you manage things day to day then they're definitely still valid to implement when you can. I started building this 'kit' years before a diagnosis and it still helped
I love your videos and your style. Thanks for the inspiration!
THAT GHOST COVER IS EVERYTHING ❤
I'm inclined to agree haha :D I got it from tk maxx so you may be able to find one if you have tk/tj maxx where you live
love seeing how you use your books every week! your holiday card and new stickers are stunning! 😍
@@autisticbucky thank you. I always get a bit nervous having stuff printed but I'm pleased with the outcome
Killer views is wonderful!! I buy from her every year. Love her work so much ❤
I'm going to be starting my own calendar/journal soon too :)) I'm very happy about it! I got a weekly horizontal spread from Muji <3. The only thing I'm worried about is stickers; they seem expensive sometimes. Do you have any advice about them?
@@ampepe910 the muji books look so nice! I hope you get on well with it. I was having a look at those but I don't have a practical use for them currently. My advice for stickers is to explore shops of artists/creators you like and sites like Etsy so that the money you do end up spending is going towards small artists/businesses. Cheeky plug, I sell some stickers on my website (UK) and Etsy (international) if you want to have a look at those. If there are other people you watch on RUclips who do journaling, maybe see whose stickers they use. The other thing I do quite a bit is shopping from budget shops. For example I mention flying tiger a couple of times in this video. You can often find packs of lots of stickers there for a couple of pounds.
Oh also! Something I enjoy doing is adding elements of 'junk journaling' to my spreads, by which I mean using the stuff that accumulates naturally - receipts, packaging from things I use, images found online that really resonate and gluing/taping those in
@@alexthomascreative Oh great! Thank you, I will be on the look out <33
@@alexthomascreative Oh yeah, that is an amazing idea, I must try it :))
Adore your cozy space! 🖤🖤
I'm watching it in the morning with my breakfast, what a lovely way to start the day <3 Thank you for sharing
I loved the desk tour. My own desk could use a clean up. I also want to buy a nice big candle or two for the season. I volunteered to decorate a festive table for a Christmas party. I want to make a mood board that's colorful and full of whimsy. I ordered a hobonichi A5 notebook even though I haven't decided how to use it. I also got two pens from Uni-ball. I'm impatiently waiting for them to arrive since it's my first big investment in stationary. Most of what I use now is from Walmart, which is fine but I have been ~influenced~.
@@heyyou2720 thank you. How nice to volunteer, decorating a festive table sounds right up my street too tbh! I'd recommend, if you have access a scanner or photocopier, scanning some pages in then you can play about with layouts without needing to do it in the book :-) a lot of my supplies are from supermarkets/discount shops but it's nice to treat yourself sometimes
always enjoy your videos keeping me company :) 💛
