Raised beaches - an introduction
Просмотров 8814 дней назад
This video shows us how raised beaches are formed, using examples from both Guernsey and England to exemplify the processes, all presented in a clear, colourful and concise way. The beaches in Guernsey also demonstrate unconformable contacts of around 650,000,000 years of missing geological time! WOW! Geology in a Jiffy!

Um is this mr Jackson ?
How do you know it’s 100,000 years old?
It’s been scientifically-dated by geologists (by carbon dating, using the fossils present etc).
How do you know it's not? You trust a book written by people you’ve never met. Why not do your own research using scientifically proven methods? I could write a new "bible" claiming it's 100,000 years old, in Greek, and then have my Greek neighbor translate it to English for you to read. You could adjust your beliefs based on that, and logically, it would hold the same weight-especially if I claimed I was interpreting what God told me. There's no way you could prove me wrong. So, in the future, it's better not to push a belief system that was taught to you, rather than acquired through your own observations and critical thinking, onto others who have made repeatable, verifiable observations in this world.
Hi. You are very correct. I have used my own many observations in the field, with knowledge and data from Research Papers, and books. As all great scientists should do.
is it possible to do a video on the nitrogen cycle?

I dont understand how the crust is being stretched if it is a divergent plate movement. Isn't each plate moving towards itself? Or even if each plate moves as a whole, where does the stretching of the crust come in?
Hi Divergent is being pulled apart. For example at mid ocean ridges. In the other side of that plate for example, plates could then collide. You could say they are moving towards as they operate on a sphere. The stretching comes about due to rising magma below pushing the overlying crust upwards, the crust either side then moving ‘downwards’ and away, so pulling apart the crust, thin in t the crust and forming the graben structures
@@geologyinajiffywow thank you so much for this explanation. I spent about 30 minutes asking chatGPT and I simply could not understand but this short paragraph had cleared all my doubts. Truly thank you so much sir you deserve the new subscriber 🙏
So that’s what they are iv found loads of these . I thought they where sea urchins
And you’re very correct! 👍🏻 This one is a fossil sea urchin, and has perfect symmetry too. Lucky you finding lots
