    I, too, struggle with machine binding. (I'm actually terrible at it!!! And it is so frustrating!) I now hand sew my binding on. Missouri Star Quilt has a great tutorial on hand sewing binding that is actually quite fast. It turns out beautiful every time!

  • @Fg4e
    @Fg4e 3 дня назад

    I can't tell by the camera angle but you might need a walking foot to do quilting. This helps the fabric top and bottom fabrics go through the machine together with an even grip. You are using slippery minky-like fabric against quilt cotton. That means your fabrics are gonna slip against each other. You might want to try pinning or basting some tissue around the edge of the minky fabric, add the binding then tear away the paper when done or use a water dissolvable stabilizer. That way you'll have something that won't slip around under your needle as you sew. You have picked a real challenging project. You should be proud you have come this far! Also sew with the grain of the fabric so it pulls less as you sew. Feel free to look around RUclips at your "quilting sisters" vids. They'll have demos on doing this that will make it easier! Congratulations on your hard work! You can do this❤

    • @zagadkacollective
      @zagadkacollective 8 дней назад

      Not for the most part, on some fabrics you may see a faint line. I’ve been using the pens for well over 5 years with items being exposed to below freezing temperatures at some markets and have t had any issues. Has to be put in the cold within a day or two to reappear.

    Ohh you don't need fusible fleece? And u don't need need to quilt it? Wow that's so cool. What does the batting do? Make it thick or make it sturdy? Sorry I've never sewn

    • @zagadkacollective
      @zagadkacollective Месяц назад

      I don’t use fusible fleece sometimes I do use a fusible liner for sturdier structure if I don’t want it thicker but do want it more structured . The fusible one would make it more sturdy. And you can choose to quilt it or not.

  • @AussieMumVLOGS
    @AussieMumVLOGS Месяц назад

    What is batting?

    • @zagadkacollective
      @zagadkacollective 6 дней назад

      Batting is the layer in between the liner and the outer piece. The fluffy insert for the quilted look. Like stuffing.

    • @zagadkacollective

      It depends in what you are making it for. A lot of my materials are thrifted curtains and pillow cases and either cotton or polyfil binding

    Hi, ive never sewn before and definitely never quilted. How many cm or inches apart are the lines? It looks very scary but beautiful

    • @zagadkacollective
      @zagadkacollective 6 дней назад

      Hey , sorry just saw your comment, but when I do the diagonal lines I do between 1.5-2 inches apart just depending on the piece and fabric pattern. But don’t be intimidated, once you start you will love it so much and will just want to try more and more new things!!🫶
