So helpful! I struggle with getting it square every time, and it takes so long to get it right. But now I realize what I was doing wrong: when A is out of square, I shouldn't try to adjust A, I should adjust (tap) the two adjacent corners. Also I only was using an L brace to check it for gaps; now I know to measure the diagonals. The cardboard corners was another great tip: I confess, I was using wood glue - after all that work, I wasn't taking chances. Thank you so much for making this vid!

Hello Steve, I stretched my canvas and primer, was excellent the tension, but after paint on it with oil using spatula the canvas lost the tension , and the surface moves like a jelly. could you give me some tip ?... Thanks!.

This looks like a horribly flimsy stretcher... Buying premade canvases or stretchers is lazy. Build it yourself, and you'll have a more durable stretcher. F- dude...

a well done and highly informational video! I'm wondering what you think of painting on paper. My art professor claims that in the past canvas was the better surface but nowadays there are high quality papers that are preferable. What's you take on that?

If they are as clearly presented and well illustrated as this overview, they will be well worth viewing and keeping for future reference. I am not a stranger to stretching prepared canvas, but other than a few not-so-successful attempts I've avoided preparing the stretched canvas myself.
