Lost GoPro Recovered With Homebuilt ROV
Просмотров 27 тыс.11 лет назад
July 12 2013 I lost my Go-Pro whilst using it for the first time. After a few unsuccessful attempts by divers to locate it, I decided to build my own ROV to find and retrieve the missing camera. 2.5 months later I found it after 4 days of searching! This video features both the footage from the Go-Pro and the ROV's camera. I do not own the music tracks featured, they belong to the following tal...
I've been searching for this video ever since i saw it the first time and youtube happens to recommend it to me 8 years ago from when i saw it i hope youtube isnt warning me of losing my gopro and instead telling me to make an RC submarine
did you change the power or pre valves?
Hi, I’ve had the exact same problem with mine, it started about 5 years ago and I’ve never been able to fix it. Have you managed to resolve the problem? 🙏
Hi 8 Ball - Sorry i didnt reply sooner i have been at work offshore. I am still trying to get to the bottom of this and after studying the schematics and testing, i am almost certain this is a tube fault. Have you ever changed the tubes in your amp?? The volume control has no affect on the sound, yet the presence control does... that means the fault is after the pre-amp stage. You will notice from the last clip on the video the amp makes the same noise but the amp was turned off but with the standby switch on! The caps are obviously driving the curcuit and the fault occurs. So i have ruled out the solid state side. And the schematic leaves very little else that could introduce noise into the circuit (even when switched off). That is leading me towards the tubes. I have ordered another set. I will install them an bias them and let you know how it goes.
@@Sosijdog hi, thanks for the reply. No I’ve never replaced the tubes, I suspected it may have something to do with it, but not sure how to replace them, I guess there may be a video on here somewhere. It would be great if you could let me know if it works for you, and I’ll try changing them if so. Maybe you could record how to change the tubes whilst you’re doing it 😂 kill two of my birds with one stone 👍 Good luck, hope it works.
Hello again 8 Ball! I changed the tubes and it cured the fault! 😃 Unfortunately i did not make a video of it for you. 😁 However, changing the tubes is very easy - but they MUST be biased in order to ensure they work correctly. As this is the case and you need to be inside the amp with some lethal high voltages kicking about, i wouldn’t want you to attempt it if you weren’t sure. You can physically change the tubes yourself (a few screws and pull them out, and new ones in) but biasing requires the amp to be fully powered up to set it. Again its very simple if you want to check out a tutorial vid. But it would be a 5 minute job for an amp tech. Glad to have the old amp back! Good luck. 😃👍🏻
@@Sosijdog hey, ok great stuff, thanks for the update. Yes, I would kill myself in about 3 seconds flat I think :-( I will contact a guy I know who I think can do it for me. Thanks for the update. Take care
Seriously dude, you gotta post more of this fine piece of machinery!!! That’s some good work!
Harassment Rover Hey I seen a 3 or 4 ft. Wide starfish at the bottom of the ocean floor with my Sony Actioncam. It was scary looking.
so it looks like you used bilge pumps with props for propulsion. What was the camera? Also what was that sensor next to the camera?
beatifull ROV ,where i can find the plan to built that? excuse my english :)
Lyric:. "there goes my hero..". ROTFLMAO!!
XtremeBudgetMusician lmao
Cool vid :-)
There goes my hero Watch him as he goes perfect song... luckily you stopped right there and didn't add 'Yellow Submarine' to the vid ;-)
As a fellow cinematographer and film constructor I must say the choice of music "There Goes My Hero" was a golden song selection for a video about losing your GoPro HERO camera. 5 Stars from me = Like, Subscribe, and a comment!
"There's goes my go pro hero, watch him as he sinks"
great job!
Love it, seems to be working very very well! How do you control your depth? Is the ROV always positively buoyant and the prop spinning to keep it at the right depth?
nice recovery! i'm almost willing to bet building the ROV cost as much or more than a new camera would have cost, lol.
Whats the controller box made of and how does it work with the ROV?
This is such a great video. I'm part of a group working on an ROV build. I'll have to add Go Pro rescue on the possible mission list as well. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
A certain testament to how well the waterproofing and waterproof case working superbly.
Fantastic! And what a great opportunity to build a ROV, best ever excuse in the world. This, is what I will use for my wifey when I accidentally 'drop' something hehe. Thanks for sharing! Erik
I lost it when you when you got into a turfwar with the crab. Great work dude!
Fantastic effort, well done.
I needed 2 damn weeks to find my camera
Very good work man, such a good-ending story, congrats!
This is why you should always tie a float to your cameras in deep water. Do you have any plains? I like this design.
ironic song there! ;)
You didn't find an air rifle down there as well by any chance? I lost one in Catfirth years back when I worked for Wadbister Salmon :) It'll be a baa o roost noo! lol
once you built the rov, the harassment of various sea creature was a must :)
Awesome video dude! Such a happy tale.
Could u show how u made it
I like music on tis video GoPro :)
The music is good for the video because go pro hero :)
very good video , thanks
cloudy waters
Hell yeah dude!! Glad to know that there is someone else out there crazy enough to build something to go after a lost GoPro underwater like we did!!
Very nice video. I lost my phantom with gimbel and gopro and I gave up. it was in the woods and I'm not even sure wheread and flew over the areas i suspected it was for hours and looked at it on bigscreen. Never found it. I like this thing you built. What is your background? It is very nice. I want to buy it. How much would you sell it for?
You should put a tracker on any expensive stuff only cost 50$ help you like 2000$
You built that rig, just to find the go pro... are you sure you didn't just do it for the challenge? lol
Collegiate Match Fishing They say the biggest inspirations for people to do awesome things is to face an unprecedented trial in life!
great video :v ur awesome ...
Came here from www.homebuiltrovs.com all I can say is wow, well done! YOUR QUOTE "Man finds missing camera with homebuilt ROV" sounds a hell of alot better than "Man walks into shop and buys something" is awesome, well done for be persistent/stubborn and an great story to go along with it. Now I can only hope I lose my GoPro to get me motivated to build an ROV. Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant!
GREAT vid !!! Can I ask you what did you make the camera from and how did you make it waterproof to such a press ? thanks a lot, I always wanted to make one of these, but I'm a doctor, the electric circuits are too much for me.. I could make all of it, but making the joysitck a proper "operating-knob" is imposssible for me.. tell me when you'll be selling yours ;-)
Way to go man ! Great effort. It must have felt like you found the lost island of Atlantis. Oh, and great choice of music on the first part, really appropriate :).
awesome. nice build.
Amazing! Well in :)
Kool as Flooks. How much wid a hire be ta scran for lost creels n stuff. Well Done That Man.
Possibly the best advert for Go-Pro... ever! A+ for determination as well. The biggest take-away from this video though, is that Hermit Crabs are fast as fuck! haha.
that is amazing! i thought id done some cool rc projects before i saw this. give urself a pat on the back!
Unbelievable tekkers
