Ruger P89 Disassemble & Reassemble...
Like the ooopsy scratch on the frame 👌
have the same issue with a new laminated rossi, the screw came loose after a couple hundred rounds
I just hope my follower holds up it looked fresh and not beat on. And still had cosmoline on it
Excellent informative well done clear video ! Thank you.
Hey I have a p89 and it was on my nightstand and I dogs knocked it down the pin on the right side came out
Great instructor
Wow. Didn't even know about the switch for the hammer. Looked this up for my stepmom. I'm kinda jealous now. Haha.
Not sure how active you are on this, because you haven’t uploaded for a while. My grandpa gave my brother and i one of these rifles, his is a lighter wood, and mine is the same color as yours, cleaned it, took it to the range and shot it after 6 years and it’s still pin point accurate. When I have kids I’ll be sure to have them practice with it. Such a great and reliable rifle .
Thanks for sharing sir ! 👍
No prob..
Only video that showed that you needed to push that ejector down. Thank you!
No prob..glad it helped..
Thanks for the video
I shot whit this gun în high school. Year 1986 în PTAP. (pregătirea tineretului pentru apărarea patriei)
Oh nice..built tuff..
Barb or fish hook(s)
I am working on a P89 and picked up a slide and barrel for a P89 DC, it assembles onto my "frame" but doesn't "cycle" at all. What's the difference, as they look the same, what do I need to mod to make this work, or should I just re-sell the slide and barrel? Don't want to be "unsafe" and I guess I'm in the market for the correct parts. Any help, thanks in advance !! guess I could shoot a video and show parts, but they really look the same.
Ya .so ive had both but never tried to interchange..but my beliefe is that that DC means double cocker..so when you normaly decock it goes to total safty.triger pulls freely with no ingagment..flip it up n its double n single action again..so i think the machanics just dont work with regular p89..hope this helps..
@@christiancaveman5294 Thanks for responding - I "binged" many P89 videos and read comments until I happened to find the answer. "DC" means "De-Cocker" and the regular P89 has a safety. Somebody stole my slide years ago, but I still have the barrel, spring and spring guide, which when I find these parts I can install them into the DC slide and have a functioning gun again. Or I could sell the DC parts I just bought off eBay and buy the right P89 parts.
Awesome. Short and to the point. Thanks for the disassembly. I also had a good friend give me a Ruger P89. He always said it was a battle Tank of a handgun.
No prob..yes they are..lol
I just pick up same gun I love my Ruger p89.
Its a tank..it will last..so kool...rock on on bro..
Mine must be an early version; plunger end is flat, doesn't have 'tit' in middle. Somehow got my plunger hung on ledge where barrel goes from round to 'squarish'. Plunger stuck an inch or more out front of slide when everything closed up.. Got slide off again (wasn't easy) & put it where it belonged.
So is it working now..
Where did u put it all the way down or on the lug thing?
How did you get the slide off?
Thank you for this, i was wondering why my slide wasn't coming off, and I forgot about the ejector lever that needs to be pushed down. It was driving me nuts since yesterday. I watched several other videos and they don't push that ejector down but their slide comes right off in their video. So I thought something was wrong with my gun. Its one of my favorite guns, I've never had one issue with this gun, i enjoy this more than my Glocks. Mines actually a P95...
Oh good deal..oh 95 ..nice
My slide doesn't want to go back on and it locks back with the slide lock out.
Make sure the ejector arm is down when putting slide bake on..
I was curious about the 2 gouge marks where the link lug hits on my gun and I saw it on yours so I'm guessing it's normal
Great video , thankyou
Thank you...your welcome..
My slide is stuck
Ok stop what ur doing....couple check questions....is it loaded or unloaded first..magizine in or out...and is the slide stuck open.closed..or partly open..
Did the slide get stuck when putting it back on the lower main frame of the gun...if so the ejector arm might of been in upward position and bent and pintched..
And forgot to ask..my bad...is it an Ruger p89 first off...
Great video. I have an old P89 and I could not get it to disassemble. This video showed that the line up of the holes is in a different place than other videos. Whatever the difference I was able to disassemble after I saw this one. Whew. Thanks.
Oh nice...good deal..glad to hear..you are welcome..keep shootin..
Hi! Mr. Christian! How many rounds has that pistol fired? Thank you!
Around 1000 on this one..
Pᵣₒmₒˢᵐ
Great tip. These are great range pistols. I’ve had mine since the early 90’s
Thanx..yes they are..
How much
Sorry no sale..if thats what you are asking....not sure what there going for now.....but if you can find one under 400 bucks in good condition...i think its good deal..very reliable..
😊I like it
Its fun...when the improbable becomes true..lol..
Useful info and easy to understand.
Thank you much..good luck..
Wow beautiful idea
Seen it in a Barber shop when i was a kid..
I couldn’t get it to slide off and was just about to reassemble and take to a gunshop when I pulled firmly on the slide and boom, slide apart east as pie. Thanks for sharing this simple process. I was making it more difficult than it was.
Yes and make sure your realease pin is pulled all the way out..good job...
Me too
Loved that knife I wish I didnt lose mine in the woods when the belt clip got caught on my weed whacker
Oh dang..ya its handy little guy..hope u get another or something close to it..good worker knife..
Wow
Thank you
No prob..
My brand new 45LC is having extraction issues. I load a round and when I cycle, the extractor skips the round about a 1/4 inch into the motion. What do you think the problem might be? I'm thinking an out of spec extractor or maybe too much spring pressure not allowing the round to properly set on the bolt? When I close the action with a round in the chamber, the extractor creates a hump, it's not even with the bolt like my other Rossi's. Thanks for your time.
Oh wow..im not sure bout the hump thing...but if new i would check for bures on and around extracter...it very well could be bad part..sorry im not sure..
I dumped that plastic follower for a metal one.
Hay caveman it possible to make a video on replacement or repairing a bent ejector arm?
Can we just file it or do we have to replace?
I would not file it....maybe post pics so i can see..
If you be t it some trying to put slide back on with out pushing it down you might just bend back..i have before..but can be touchy..i used needle nose pliers with tape around ends..but if bad id just replace..
Will do.
Thank you for the video.. this saved me a trip to my gun smith
No problem..glad i could help..
Great gun, doesn't jam. The downside is the grip is plastic, making the gun uncomfortable to shoot during long practice sessions
You'll be a lot happier with a Hogue grip instead of tape. Also the "plunger" is called the guide rod.
Yes..thank you for comment..its para cord wrap on handle. Cheap n something fun for me..n i should of used correct verbish..thanks..
How can you fix recoil spring when it broke. How you fix it
You should get a new one if it broke..
Anyone know where to buy a new one ? Mine is a dual but miss the washer at the end . P93DOA
I would get a new one...dont mess with broken springs...
Not sure..n not sure on what you mean...
@@christiancaveman5294 Ruger P93 9mm Dual Action Buffer Spring
I have an old Rossi pump 22 mag that has the same problem
I think rossi is pretty decent they just need little help sometimes..lol..hope u can get it fixed up Chris..good luck..
@@christiancaveman5294 yeah I’ve taken it to some gun smiths and they pretty much look at me crazy… I don’t fire it much but would like to have it in as close to mint condition as possible. Thanks for the reply sir.
I hear ya..keep trying n thank you to sir..
Thanks for the info mate. John
For sure sir..
Very informative. I thank you Sir.
Your welcome sir...
You're really playing with live ammo? Have you ever heard of snap caps?
I have heard of those..wish i had some .but dont so..i do what i do..i also dont put bandaids on little scratches...
Had mine for 18 years now. Bought it in a bait shop for $65. He had 10 of them, wish I'd have bought them all! Absolutely couldn't believe how accurate these are. My eyesight isn't what it used to be (blurry buckhorn when shouldered) and ironically enough just today I pulled out 4 surplus scopes as candidates to attach. To my dismay the dovetail rings I have on hand (Wally World's Weaver CLASSIC medium height P/N: 49192) are too wide to clamp onto the receiver. Though the ring bottom height gives a strong 1/8" clearance over the buckhorn sight for a close 1" bore height so don't go big on objective bell regardless of ring brand.
Good buy back then..now the price is getting up there for sure..
You want a Kwik-Site KS-TO-22M1 Scope Mount. I don't think they are in business any longer, but they are right for that little rail.
No thanks..i kinda like it with open sites..but appreciate it though..
My P89 MKII is picky about reloaded ammo. I think it has a very narrow chamber. Other pistols work perfectly for me with the same ammunition.
You sure its not an P85 MKll....the p89 was the upgrade to it...
Mr. Christian, do you regularly use your gun dry? Do you prefer not to lubricate it? In the video it looks completely dry. Thank you!
Oh thank you for asking Jose...its not completly dry as it might look..but on this firearm a little is alot..a. least in my deal with it....if you have own try it out...thank you
@@christiancaveman5294 Ok! Thank you!
Your welcome..
tried this, didn't work. have never been able to get the slide off.
Are you getting your pin pull fully out and the injector arm pushed down..if so something else might be going on..
@@christiancaveman5294 very hard to get the pin out. don't think it has ever been field strip. a buddy with gorilla hands was able to get the pin out and it needed a thorough cleaning. had to use the bottom of the mag to pry it. eventually was able to use fingers after it loosened up. thanks for your comment.
I love mine. It is my favorite plinker.
