Modern critics are all sellouts. It's not just the movie critics, it's the video-game critics as well. Every new woke movie and half-baked video-game get all the praise, whereas the actually good, but not always PC or casual movies and games are left in the dust. (ok, maybe not every, but it's definitely a thing; and yes, not all non-PC films and games are good either) As to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man returning in Afterlife, it makes sense. In the first film Ray thought about a treat that he used to eat while camping, which was literally the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and Gozer made a giant, sentient version that was meant to destroy the world. The tiny SPM that the teacher found in the store were literally the same marshmallow treats that Ray used to eat as a child, they just came to life for... fan service, I guess. Or maybe Gozer has a sense of humour, or is sentimental, or something. Now, one has to wonder about the SPM. In the first film Ray was 30 years old (being canonically born in 1954), and probably ate SPM when he was, maybe 8, so in 1962, give or take. We can assume that by 1984 (when the first film's events are taking place), the Stay Puft brand went under, because he was apparently the only person to recognize the SPM Man, either that, or Stay Puft is a brand that's mostly found in the Midwest (in the GB cookbook Ray comments that Camp Wakonda - where he ate SPM as a child - was in the Midwest). Afterlife is set in Oklahoma, in circa 2021. If the Stay Puft brand survived well into 2021, is it possible that its products would be found in Oklahoma rather than in New York? Would the Gozer Incident have affected the brand negatively or positively? Discuss. I agree with your take on Afterlife. It's definitely a step in the right direction, and it's nice to see that the team actually cared when making it. But it was largely a one-time-view film. What I am really sad about is how Extreme Ghostbusters was pretty much forgotten. Besides Kylie returning in that one comic (as a separate iteration of the character), and the XGB team appearing in some kind of comic special where the different GB universes converged, XGB was pretty much sweeped under the rug, despite actually being respectful of its source material, and doing diversity much better than the gods-awful 2016 film.

As for The Real Ghostbusters, the only really good episodes were the 13 original 1st season episodes, and the 62 syndicated episodes. Those Q5 morons that were hired by ABC ruined the show. It became dumbed down for children, whereas before all ages could enjoy it. Long story, but that's the short of it.

I was at Panama City in 96 when MTV was there. It is so fake and over-rated when you're actually in the middle of it. No Doubt was in concert and they filmed the end of the show first when they had a large crowd. No one could figure out why. But by the end of the concert (and they only played a few songs) it was so bad that most everyone had left, leaving the place empty. What you see on the video is fake and over-rated.

The Real Ghostbusters stopped airing in local syndication in early fall 1991, and started airing on the USA Network a year later in 1992. I don't think the show ran in local syndication AND on USA at the same time, though I *do* believe that some of the ABC eps from 1986-88 from seasons 1, 3, and 4, eventually aired in local syndication, before USA got a hold of the show. It's likely that the 1991-1992 season was the last for local network and LBS-distributed syndication, and 1992-1993 was the first on USA. Someone had recorded episodes from any local stations WNYW (including Washington, D.C.-based WTTG Fox 5 and many more others), so it was definitely in syndication for the 1989-1990 season. It's 1990-1991 and 1991-1992 we need to confirm. I remember seeing reruns of Press Your Luck, The 25,000/100,000 Pyramid, Murder, She Wrote, Sale of the Century, Quantum Leap, Major Dad, The Facts of Life, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and Wings, TekWar, Duckman, Silk Stalkings, the Weird Science series on USA, which premiered in 1994 - at which point RGB was *definitely* on USA for a while.

I gave the 2016 Ghostbusters and honest try. I am somebody who is really sick and tired of fans hating on movies before they come out. It’s been like this since about 2015, especially in the geek fandom, whether it’s Ghostbusters, Star Wars, DC comics, or Marvel comics, there is a trend that I don’t like that’s happening and that is now that it’s cool to hate on all these movies before they come out and we need to stop that. I’m not saying you have to love all of them, but we are getting to appoint to where thousands of people are making up their mind that not only are they not going to like it, but they need to bother everybody else and try to ruin the experience for everybody. If you don’t like a movie, just don’t watch it . So yeah, I gave it a fair shot but it wasn’t a good movie. It had nothing to do with an all female cast. It wasn’t a good movie. And if you notice that most of those positive reviews, started with a negative insult to the fans? Or basically telling people if you don’t agree with their opinion, then you’re some troll. I don’t agree with all the hate the movie afterwards. The movie came out, it sucked OK let’s just not watch it again. But yeah, those reviewers were completely completely whack for that. If that had been an all cast, and it was pretty much, the same storyline and same verbiage except you would have to change the things that clearly define whether a character is a male or female character, but if it was essentially the exact same movie but with a male cast, they would’ve given the movie, a bad review.

Great video man. I’m glad I found your channel I’m a subscriber now. I was born in 1980 so things like Star Wars, Superman and Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course, the Ghostbusters were the things I was a huge fan of as a kid and honestly still a fan of many of those things now. The original movie, Ghostbusters two and Ghostbusters afterlife are all three films that I love but until Covid hit I had not re-watched any of the cartoons I had watched as a kid in the 80s probably since the 80s. Honestly after re-watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles first I like the first season but after that that show just really does not hold up well at all. Out of all the 80s cartoons that I watched during Covid the real Ghostbusters by Miles is the one that steel holds up. Everything else kind of was cool as a kid but the real Ghostbusters cartoon I believe still holds up fine today.

Was working the exit door(4 doors) I'm sure Colin and the others from show wanted vip treatment. Colin Went to front door where the owner(Alan Cohen's)father probably told him to use exit doors. I loved working at 701 but it was pure koas during spring break. When Colin tried pulling on exit doors (I immediately opened them and grabbed him by shirt and was "what the heck are you doing? This is not an entrance door" I then realized it was Colin. He was cool about it but I think for a second he thought I was going to hurt him(I wouldn't have) Got him set up inside in vip section and all was good

Yea Trey, I graduated a year after you 07. By the time I was outta school MTV spring break wasn’t a thing anymore. I did live in Florida. But Daytona was trashy by then, it wasn’t the same.

Class of 2009 here, try being slightly younger at the time cutting your teeth on MTV Spring Break, American Pie (1 and 2!), Road Trip, and seeing Woodstock 99 at a very formative age as a kid in the late 90s-early 2000s, only to graduate high school as the Great Recession kicked off.

@@Culturgeist My Man! I would like to add though that the dancing that also of them was doing weren’t really that bad. Some of them were don’t get me wrong but it most of it was just fine.

@@kchdub3467 lol. Yeah I'm exaggerating a bit. I didn't mean it was all bad. But you would often see people who clearly had no idea what they were doing, or wilding out way too hard.. Some of the worst examples were featured right in this video as I'm talking about it.

I loved Ghostbusters growing up. I was so happy to learn about Extreme Ghostbusters in the late 90s. I loved the game in the early teens! So much fun being a Buster! And the 16 film… bad taste. I miss the practical effects of movies past. Also why do movies now seem like the cut scenes from video games?

Yeah, it's kind of weird how practical effects almost look more real than CGI a lot of the time. You'd think the old effects would look outdated, but in Ghostbusters a lot of the ghosts look pretty realistic. Especially compared to the 2016 movie.

Once again here I am defending the movie I like the characters Lily and Herman I thought those actors put their own touch to it I did not want to see people doing imitations of The original cast. So overall I really like the movie. I really like the actor who built Herman I thought he was great I liked Igor. . So for me I enjoyed the movie.

lol. Well that's good that you liked it. Another movie to add to your list of Halloween favorites you can enjoy each season. And the actor who played Wolfgang was pretty good. Also your opinion about not wanting to see an exact impression is valid.

I actually liked it. But when I went into it I was going into it with the thought that this was gonna be a middle school play with a big budget
