    It is indeed a strange behavior, but I think it's somehow manageable. Reduce the amplitude of the waveform on the screen (i.e. increase the mV/div) and the issue disappears, though the waveform is still visible. This is exactly what happens in your video at 1min 50sec when you decreased the amplitude of the generated sine wave, so it shrinks in amplitude on the screen and becomes stable. Of course if you play again with the Volts/div to extend the waveform the issue appears back - it seems to me not an unstable front-end, but some programming bug in the backend's software.

    Indeed, this is not a trigger issue, rather the noise in the input chain. Effectively, you are triggering on noise splashes. The most stable trigger mode for noisy signal is "Pulse": it allows you to set the minimum pulse width to trigger on. Try switching to "Pulse" mode, set the minimum pulse width to something smaller than half your signal period (but not much smaller) and set the threshold to zero or somewhat below. E.g. for 1 kHz signal select something like 300 us (1/3 of the period). You'll see that your signal now is rock-stable.

    Use X1 mode for probe with 20Mhz BW limit or "probe to BNC" adaptor for connection, it's not issue, it's sensevity to noise.

    The same problem with my oscilloscope too, a signal of 1 KHz with amplitude below 1V is not triggered, it moves continuously on the display from left to right and vice versa. I also installed the latest firmware version, the dso3kb_20220210. Nothing has changed... Has anyone managed to fix the problem?

      @@mal6232 probe at x1, still not triggering with the latest firmware update dso3kb_20220517 they sent me today. The DSO2D15 is just a toy for hobbysts, Hantek's after sale is a joke and offensive for the customer who has issue with one of their product. Buying this oscilloscope was more than frustrating. It will be more than a month since the Hantek after sale goes on with firmware updates that do not solve the situation of this machine at all. I would never have imagined such a poor product, I definitely do not recommend it to anyone and rather invest in a Rigol, Tektronix and other brands that have been in the field for more than thirty years, not these chinoiseries.

  • @danedewaard8215

    I think Hantek tries to get their products into the market place before their testing is complete! They then attempt to fix with backburner firmware updates or just leave the customer hanging! If we want to get low cost, high performance products, we are going to pay for it in taking the time to argue with them, and waiting to see if they can fix it!!! Most of the time, the return date will pass before we know if the fix is coming, or if the fix works!!!

      Totally agree. That's why I finally decided to get rid of the scope. I have an old analog Philips, it is huge and therefore I don't use it too often, but for the rare occasions I need a scope it is enough. And when I decide to get a smaller one, I'll definitely go for a better brand that has proven its reliability already.

      As others mentioned before: you can try slope triggering, it indeed is much more stable, however when your signal changes it is more complicated to reconfigure the triggering levels. I have contacted Hantek support, and after a few mails back and forth they sent me a custom firmware that seemed to help a lot. The waveform was still not 100% stable, it moved back and forth very little, more like a kind of flickering, but it was much better. I still ended up selling my unit, as I wasn't completely happy with this "flickering", plus the FFT capabilities did not convince me either. In addition the green and yellow colors for the two channels were for me almost undistinguishable. All in all I was quite disappointed with this purchase. Other Hantek devices might be better, but I doubt I will try any of them, I rather save some more money and buy some real stuff, like Siglent or Keysight or something similar.

      I have found some problems with picking up smaller signals that ought to work. I have some extra money now, so I think I'll look for a better unit. Save this one for testing first, as I have little experience with oscilloscopes. If I did everything correctly, a first and very basic experiment on Mr Carlsons Lab Patreon account was a no-go. @@drdfx159

    Hi thanks for sharing this and do you think is worth it or not for $300

    • @drdfx159
      @drdfx159 2 года назад

      I ended up selling it, so for me it wasn't worth. I think there are better options, if a bit more expensive, and perhaps lacking some features (mostly the signal generator), but they are more stable. Depends on what you need: if you will work with signal levels above 1V peak-to-peak, and perhaps frequencies higher than 1kHz, then it might suit you, especially if you absolutely need the builtin generator function. Otherwise there are better options I think. Oh and one more drawback: the two channels are marked with green and yellow, I could barely see the difference between them on the screen, so if you need to constantly compare waveforms, then maybe this unit is again not the best.

    I had this trouble too. For values less than 1V with sine or other smooth forms, use the slope trigger instead of the edge trigger and it’s much more stable. I also had some luck increasing the sample rate in the measurement tab - the scope automatically reduces its sample rate with the horizontal scale at low frequencies, but you can override it. Trouble is, it re-sets the sample rate back down when you touch the h-scale, so I’ve had better luck with the slope. I got my DSO2D15 last week, so I’m just figuring things out. Hope this helps!

    • @drdfx159
      @drdfx159 2 года назад

      Thanks for the info. I figured out too that slope triggering gives a more stable waveform. In the mean time I got a new update from Hantek, installed it, and appparently it solved my issue. More or less... Sometimes it still flickers, but adjusting on the volts/div knob back and forth solves this. On the other hand slope triggering is unuseable now :D Honestly, I start to give it up. I keep my scope till I find something better (Siglent, Tektronix, Rigol maybe) for a reasonable price used, but then I think it will go.

      Thanks, indeed, slope triggering works much more stable, however that is also much more inconvenient if you need adjustments in the triggering level (or levels in that case). I have emailed Hantek, initially they seemed to be willing to help, asked for more details and also this video, but for more than two weeks now I have not heard anything from them :(

    I’m hoping you can help me. I just got a Hantek DSO2D15. The trigger setting in 10X mode is not stable. I’m not sure if my scope is broke or if it’s a defect in the software. It seems to work fine in 1X mode. Set the scope in 10X mode. Connect the probe to a power source - I used the 5 volt probe check. Set the trigger or hit the Autoset button. Now adjust the volts per division a few times. Does your trigger setting drop down to 0? Thanks for your help and keep up the great videos.

Since it is not mine, but belongs toa friend of mine (he played the demo) I have no idea if this is normal... It certainly doe not come from the pedal as the same pedal is dead quiet on other amps and also other pedals produced this noise on the same amp (see my other video about the Marvel Drive clone)
