Want to fish the Orange river?
I'm a fly fishing and Artlure guide on the Orange river below Vanderkloof dam in the Bo Karoo area of South Africa. We fish on private land where there is little to no fishing pressure.
We access streams and pools by wading, kajak or duck. Target species are the Largemouth Yellowfish, Smallmouth Yellowfish, Muddies(Mudfish) and Catfish.

My first session at Slypsteen Safari’s started on a high note! Second cast and I was on with a beautiful Smallmouth and three casts later this Largie smashed my Rapala X-Lite in die shallows between rocks. Him what do you use for bait on those small rods? Can you cast a decent sized fish hwad with thise rods?
@@jerrardprins1942 I use musfish head and fillets. We dont need to cast more than 30 meters out. With fillets I can cast 80 meters easy. These are mainly bass rods meduim heavy, they are strong and its fun fighting cats on them.

Daar is n opgestopte grrotbek in n winkel van 22kg as ek reg onthou.. dis die plek waar die vaal rivier in vaaldam in vloei, dink die plek se naam was vaal de vie of so iets.. baie mooi vis geluk ou seun, groete

No , South African Yellowfish is another species. They are predatory fish.
Baie info, ek hengel ook graag met die 13 fish combo asook die sensation finesse met n c30 reel. Byde met ligte braid wat afstand en akkuraatheid verbeter, and I love them! Sensation se PowerPlus met die Caymar C55 met 30 tot 50 pond braind is maar net die beste vir die groter catfish in die oranje rivier, my al baie gehelp om die nodige druk op die vis te plaas sodat die vis geland kan word!!! En dan al Rapala se kuns aas, boys need I say more. Jaques all the advise you gave on tackle and gear I know works, we have hade many proper days on days finding a targeted species and catching them. Daar is baie video materiaal op Bo Karoo Fishing se kanaal om te bevestig wat ek van praat. Thanks boeta, grootbek seisoen is op ons, boys check this space.
