Retro Bassin asked me to check you out. I’m in.
Thanks Bill!
Damn good story. Used Mepps all my life, gonna share with some friends. Here in the Ozarks its a recognized name.
Thanks so much for watching. Much appreciated. Mike is a great guy, very low-key and humble. And he tells a darn good story!
Great video! I have a 910 and a 920. I still use the 910 for panfishing.
That's pretty great that you still have and use that old reel. They built them like tanks back then. Thanks for watching!
This drips yesteryear... and calls out for a beautiful day or week on a pristine lake full of lunkers...
Such a cool boat and the motors. Glad to see you have them! How many fish have come over those sides……
Yessir! I'm pretty excited for spring.
Love the classic spinning reels!
You do? What a coincidence, SO DO I! WOOHOO! Thanks for watching, brother!
Great video! You got yourself another subscriber. Excited to see what comes next!
Thanks Mike!
Great to see you finally back on the channel Dave!!!! Great video!!!
Thanks Terry!
First! Love to see this channel up and running again, good buddy!
Thank you sir!
Here's a tip take a weedless wacky hook and rig it between the 2 indentation on side of bait (wacky style)and cast past your target.making sure the head of the bait is facing the target.once it hits the water keep twitching it on topand reeling and the bait will swim towards the target works good if bank fishing and you need to run your bait under a dock or overhanging branches. Once it reaches target I let it flutter down and work like a wacky rig
@@gregchilders7643 ooh, interesting technique!
@@Stumpjack yes .I was using the sluggo in the traditional way and it got bit by fish and missed it as I was reeling it in I noticed the head had tore out and started running sideways

All we saw in this was a baby turtle that hatched... then just stood there lifeless! No movement! horrible video!!!!!
I guess you think he should have hatched, jumped out and started vacuuming or doing some calisthenics.
I got to distracted by the waggle dancers on the first frame
I have some turtle eggs that my neighbors were trying to get rid of that I am trying to raise myself. They have been rotated, but it had been less then 8 hours from when they were laid. Will they survive?
I really couldn't say, there are several factors that impact their viability. But it's certainly worth the effort and if they do survive it's quite a cool experience. Best of luck to you!
Are they ok?
OMG I saw first time turtle'eggs
Aww it looked like they wanted to go back home with you ☹️☹️😓😓
So everything I am seeing says to incubate at around 72 to 75 degrees. Well, I have done that in a high humidity room for about 115 days now, and I do not have any hatches. Mine have been indoors since day 1 so unlikely to hatch as fast as yours. But there is not a lot of info on the web about these. I have 49 eggs and a good portion of them have collapsed, even though only 3 at first were unviable. I suppose the collapsed ones stopped developing after a few weeks.
Incubate 80 degrees and higher… I leave mine indoors by the water heater. They should hatch at day 90 but I’ve seen them go to day 100. Did they hatch for you?
cool!
Hey I read that article you wrote. Some people might give you a hard time, So I just wanted to let you know you DID GREAT. Most people who might criticize you have no clue what they are talking about. EVERY year a Fox, Skunk, or Raccoon dig up the eggs that are laid in my driveway. Usually over 10 holes, of both Painted turtles and Snappers. They NEVER miss any of them. I have decided to do exactly what you did. I had noticed the baby snapper population had decreased, so I did a little research. Apparently because of many different modern factors, turtles are having a hard time getting their eggs through incubation, due to a rise in predators and a decrease in spots to safely lay their eggs. Long story short, you did a great thing, and your pond will be better for it. Snappers are beautiful creatures that are actually an important part of the local ecosystem. I don’t know that anyone will criticize you, but given the age we live in, it’s likely because that is what people do these days. So I wanted to preempt them, and let you know how well you did. As far as how many are supposed to hatch, I would google that. But at the end of the day if you got a third to hatch, that was a third more than would have otherwise hatched.
Thanks Michael! Yeah, I've got some criticisms...that's an unfortunate though expected part of the Internet. Lots of folks out there who have a little bit of surface knowledge who think they're experts. I've been dealing with snapping, painted and softshell turtles ever since I was a kid (catching them, eating them, protecting their eggs), and I can confidently say that you are exactly right...darn few of those turtle egg clutches make it through to hatch. Thanks again!
@@Stumpjack 10-4 My pleasure
You should NEVER help it along or mess with their nesting area...They have to do it on their own or they may not survive because of human intervention...I had a cockatiel that laid eggs and I saw one hatching and I helped a little by getting egg pieces out of the way of the baby's beak..The baby died & regret it every day...At the time, I didn't know that helping an egg hatch can determine their survival because the baby can bleed to death from helping from the blood vessels along the inside of egg have not shut down...They also have to do it on their own to strengthen their legs otherwise they will have weak legs if you help out...They will come out when they are ready
Did you even watch the video? Nobody "helped" the turtle hatch from the egg. And you can indeed "mess" with the nest (move it) with no ill effects. You're correct about a small animal needing to hatch from the egg by itself, but you're wrong about touching or moving the nest.
@@Stumpjack pulling it out of the dirt & moving the dirt, is helping it, they have to dig out of the shell & dirt on their own
@@amberbaumann1222 Nah, not really. This little guy survived just fine and went on to live a long and happy life.

@Amber Baumann ruclips.net/video/3040DT5e-KI/видео.html
I got snapping turtle eggs rn but idk why you would put a mark on them
Probably to keep the eggs in the same orientation they were laid. Sometimes the embryo will die if the egg gets rotated.
@@pendlera2959 ahh well shit I think I just killed 5 baby snapping turtles
my turtle lays egg, what will I do to hatch it?
Put it in a container bury it lightly if u want don't turn the egg at all keep it at 80-90 degrees and wait👌
IT IS PRECIOUS AND MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS

U shouldn't poke it or move it that coould of ended badly
That’s only when is a fresh laid egg.
@@j3ffro738 no its not
um yes. you dont shake the egg so the yolk sac dont break before it could become a turtle. once its fully formed and on its way out the shell it doesnt matter at that point.
Turtles literally dig a hole and the eggs come plopping out hitting each other as they roll around to their final resting spot. Get real.
Nice one
9:11 part of sand looks like alligator snapping turtle
Yeah I have a question, since it seems like you know what you’re doing I have some turtle eggs and how do I take care of them?
Put them in fresh potting soil(Recommend to buy it) , Make the soil damp and moist (Not too moist) Bury your eggs in.Thats it. But if it is recently hatched(fresh) don’t turn the egg around ok
my turtle egg just hatched this morning
How many time it take to hatch

My red ear slider Laid eggs in aquarium what to do I want save life of these eggs
Pankaj Singh take them out of the water and put them in a container the way they were facing in the tank with some dirt. you wanna keep the dirt damp not soaking wet but it should feel wet and it should kinda stick together. keep the temperature around 85 degrees if you already have a warm enough house then you don’t need a heater all though I recommend one also to tell the temperature you can get a cheap reptile thermometer for under $5 at a pet store. Good luck 😇 that’s pretty much what works but I recommend doing more research
anne Bacon Thanks I did the same thing put them in under the sand but I have another question to discuss How long they will take to come out from the eggs?
Pankaj Singh hi it's been a month since you've posted this. Have your eggs hatched yet? Howd it going

Why are some buried and some not?
Because he's fucking with the eggs which you aren't supposed to do. They should all be buried.
He's obviously obsessed with them so much that he arranged them in a formation on top of the dirt. Most of those will die. You aren't supposed to touch them, period.
