Recorded in October 2021 at the Wooburn Festival (www.wooburn.com), Niobe is a work for solo oboe and tape. The solo oboe takes the part of Niobe bitterly lamenting her murdered children. The tape, with the distant high voices and the slow tolling bells (and later gong), is intended to provide an evocative and descriptive accompaniment.

I'm an adult about to start learning and would like to buy an oboe that will not restrict me through the grades. Can you make any recommendations? Many thanks and keep up the fantastic work.
I’m so glad you liked the performance! Here I am using an old Howarth XL from the 1990s. I have since switched to a newer Howarth XM. I’ve played Howarth oboes for my whole life and they have a number of models for players of all standards worth trying out, with consistent intonation and a sweet, singing sound - definitely worth trying. Hope this helps!
