The layers of the duel the anime doesn't tell about make it more impressive than it seems. Rudeus and Luke have equal rankings in the schools of swordsmanship, but Luke has equipment that improve his physical abilities and Rudeus is incapable of using mana to strengthen his body or improve his movement. Luke's equipment costs more than Rudeus' house (and Sylphie rocks a similar set while at the university), while Rudeus' robe costs about $7k. The edge Rudeus has is in sheer experience. He's been trained by S-rank adventurers and a veteran shock trooper of the last great war, has continually sparred against a prodigy at the sword, and has spent years combating monsters. Luke's training has been by expensive sword instructors of unknown rank, and his experience is playing the innermost defensive line against assassins. So while Rudeus was fighting for his life for years, Luke spent most of that time in bed with whatever women he managed to cajole there. To Rudeus, Luke is *slow* enough (despite his boots that double his running speed) that he doesn't even need to use the Demon Eye during the fight. He admits Luke'd be a considerable threat against normal people, but to Rudeus he doesn't measure up to any of his instructors or sparring partners.

Nice reaction, you are totally right, MT is not an anime focused 100% in action, but to be fair the few action scenes in season 2 part 1 weren’t given the adaptation that they deserved, hopefully that changes on this second cour 😊.

Roxy is part of Pauls rescue mission right now, which means she´s also to far away. Ruijerd is a lone traveler, god nows where he is. Last thing he said was he´s going back to the demon continent. Also also very far away. And even if he knew were Eris was, which he doesn´t, I have no idea why he would invite the reason of his depression arc. Right now, he at least dislikes Eris.

The thing they expecting from Isekai type like Mushoku Tensei is an Action. The problem is Mushoku Tensei its not a normal Shounen Isekai type anime. Mushoku Tensei main Genre is "DRAMA" and they forgot about that. They expecting Mushoku Tensei to be Shounen type Isekai that fighting here and there with all their Friends. But its not its a Drama anime the focus is Character Relationship and also the Drama in their Relationship. But the Fantasy concept in this anime also heavy. all the Lore, and God, Race, Language, History, Magic System, Sword Style, the World and all the thing in this series had a complex explanation if you try to find it. Even they told us how the world are made and all the race history and also why the world looks like this they have the explanation. This series really amazing. Basically this anime is Drama, Fantasy anime

I think there's a certain expectation for "fantasy" that some people think it's bad if there's no action or adventure. But Mushoku is only in a fantasy setting. It's main genre isn't action, per se, but an autobiography. This is a story that spans Rudeus' ENTIRE LIFE from birth to death. We are literally seeing this man develop a family right now. I'm guessing it's because we don't really get autobiographies in anime anymore. Only thing that comes to mind is Anne of Green Gables, but even that didn't cover Anne's entire life. It makes Mushoku all the more special in my eyes. It is pretty sad because there's are so many amazing stories in Mushoku. Elinalise for example is Mushoku's deepest and best female character due to how mentally strong and wise and thoughtful she is, despite of how many judge her based on surface level impressions. I just wish people won't get turned off by the lack of action, (it'll pick up later anyway) since there are more amazing stuff here than people realize.

When Spice and Wolf came out in 2008, it was built different. Even in 2024 I don't think there's anything else quite like it. You're in for a treat, this series is beloved by many

AFAIK the movie is canon in the sense that ramifications from the movie are referenced in supplementary material from the novel, or something like that, as well as some OVAs and part of the slime diaries are canon as they have events that either happen in the light novel, or are mentioned in it

Hope it lived up to your expectations. This is where I imagined they would finish the season, so it played out pretty much on point. They are pushing the Jeju island stuff pretty fast, but thats ok it introduces side characters. After this though each fight just ramps up more and more due to his Monarch skills.
