The melody was by Irish composer Sean O'Riada, and played by The Cheiftains for Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon". Beck had a deft touch with irish airs, just enough jazz and rock but never losing the mystery of the tune. A genius.

Jeff was learning how to play until the day he died. A different genre, a different sound, a different style. A genius who could produce sounds nobody else could. There were faster players, there were louder players but there were no better players than Jeff. We are poorer for his passing. 😢

Saw him open for The Mahavishnu Orchestra in San Diego right after Blow by Blow came out. Not even an introduction - the band just came out and cooked.

I was stationed at.cecil field In Jacksonville. 1972 I was 17. I played a little acoustic Yamaha fg360 .when skynyrd hit the deck .turned me in to the musician I am today thanks to them Ole southern boys!! I'm from Saginaw Michigan.
