➡️ Matthew’s dinner party celebrated his new life as a follower of Jesus (as well as a way for his lost friends to discover who Jesus is). It trumped religious and social norms. Share a time when you took a risk or overstepped cultural norms to celebrate who Jesus is, and/or to introduce a lost friend to Him? ➡️ God’s desire has always been to dwell with us. How does that understanding impact your desire to worship and celebrate his presence? ➡️ Have any of you ever fasted (with food) over something specific? If so, can you share your experience for the sake of those who never have? ➡️ Let’s give John’s disciples the benefit of the doubt for a moment. They approached a well respected teacher (Jesus) to ask questions about fasting. How much healthier and potentially effective was that approach, then to simply stand back and criticize, without fully understanding the situation? What would you have done? ➡️ What are some old wineskins you tend to cling to (whether in regards to sin, tradition, religion, etc)? ➡️ Why do you think it becomes easy to cling to the ‘old wineskins’? ➡️ Based on the heart of this passage (specifically vs 39), how important is it for us to desire ‘new wineskins’? ➡️ What steps can you take to pursue new wineskins to continued your spiritual growth?
