Carried out this fix on my left MTW3 which wasn't showing any signs of life. I didn't have any sort of AA, AAA battery options to hand, so used my portable USB charge pack (which was showing as outputting 5V) for 1 minute. I cut one end off a USB cable and used the red and black cables within, and then plugged the other into my battery pack. Worked perfectly thank you!

For as much as i paid for these im not disassembling them and rebuilding them again. Fk all of that. I just know better now and will never buy sennheiser again

I was in the same position as many people here and this also worked for me! I'm not at all handy when it comes to electrical/DIY things, but I picked up a multimeter at the local hardware store and was able to work through the easy steps from this video. In case helpful for others, I did not have a heat gun and so simply used a hairdryer on low heat. I also didn't have a tray for batteries and so simply used the remote control for my TV to charge the earbud up from ~ 0.9V to just over 3.0V. It took a few minutes of charging in the case (with the case plugged in) for it to regain charge, but it's now working great. Thanks! Excellent video.

This fix worked successfully for me. However, three weeks after I asked for help from Sennheiser they came back with this: • Leave the earbuds in the charging case for at least 30 minutes. • If the battery is deeply discharged/the LEDs do not respond after half an hour, put the earbud in the case for 10 seconds, take it out for 5 seconds and repeat the process 10 times to reach the low charge threshold to overcome. It's too late for me to try the approach of repeatedly putting the earbud in the case for 10 seconds but it might save someone else from the hassle of dismantling their earbud.

So this is a real thing cause I have the same exact problem with mine and it's only been a few months

thanks man. i couldn't get a new pair because i could not find my invoice :( i made already everything clear to get a new pair from sennheiser but yeah... sad idiot xD so i tried your nice hack here and it worked. i could finally load a firmware update and now i have a nice new pair of ear buds.

I hope you see my comment. This worked for my R earbud, but it lost touche control and now I can't pair my headphones. Please help 🙏

What did you buy to fix them? Is it any battery jump starter. Also where would you buy a case where you just plug in 3 triple A batteries

Thanks to your video I solved it, the right earphone was no longer charging, unlike the video I improvised with a cable to charge the Xiaomi smartband, the contacts matched those of the earphone battery so I tried, the first test failed by heating the battery but it continued not to charge and work. On the second attempt I noticed some small shocks and I feared I had reversed the polarity so I tried again by reversing the side and after this attempt the earphone started charging correctly again, thank you very much, you were a great help 😉💪🙏👏❤

Awesome. Used a 9v battery instead. Easier to charge with alligator clips too.

Is there anything #sennheiser could do about it to fix this permanently. What is the workaround? Continuous charging?

This video comes up under the search for "STEREO party-boost mode" ... but ARE these speakers actually in stereo mode, at all? The printed directions do not explain how to make them stereo (not mono X2), and so far I can't find a video to make them STEREO. How?!

Much appreciated! send them back tree times under warranty and always gotten replacements. Now the warranty has ran out i can fix them myself. Took a few tries but got there.

Great stuff! This saved my second pair (which had been already a warranty replacement for the same reason). Unbelievable what the engineers did... Just forget to put them in the charger for some time and they die!!! Shame on Sennheiser for that, which is particularly sad because they sound really great.

man, you made my day. I tried it with my Momentum TW 3 and it is working like a charm. I didn't have a setup to connect 3*1.5V batteries serial way. I used my power bank to do it which I was sure about it produces 5V and 4A. After applying the fix, I also want to say something for Sennheiser. It is totally a bullshit! I've heard few things more ridiculous! So far, I was calling myself as an engineer. it is my profession. but I'm not anymore from today on if the system designer of that product have been hired with a fuck'n engineer title!

Hello Alex, My L Earbud just stopped working all of a sudden. A week ago, both Earbuds were working Fine & I am Out of Warranty. I intend to resurrect my L Earbud. This video was extremely helpful! I travel for a living and Sennheiser wouldn't help me unless I went back to the country I bought them in. After watching this video and some help of my husband both earbuds work again after a month of being broken. Very Greatful for people like you who post very helpful and educational content! I've had these less then 10 months and this would have been my third replacement. I'm happy I was able to get these to work again with the assistance of this video❤

After 2 years, my left earbud was "dead", no LED light, no connection. I tried unpairing and factory reset (see the TW3 manual for the method). I had put on a larger rubber ring, and maybe didn't get it set into the charging case correctly? I pushed down on the two power contacts in the case, wiped the bud power connections and the case connections with a paper towel, and set the earbuds back in the case, plugged in USB overnight. They both work now!

There is no way ro force charge without opening the case ?

Perfect. Thanx a lot Alex. My first pair of MTW3s were replaced under warranty because of the dead L earbud. And i was strugguling with the same issue with the newer ones also. 350-400 bucks saved.

I didn’t expect to have to do this to a pair of earbuds costing nearly £300 after only 13 months, but it worked a treat, thank you. What glue would you recommend for holding the case together afterwards?

Could this be done without opening the ear bud?

It worked for me and now my earbuds are working again!!! Thank you very much for this!!! The earbud batteries are not charging up to 100%, they remain around 80% to 70%, but I guess this is another problem. Such a shame that this phones got this huge problem! I enjoy their sound, but this unreliability made me switch to Airpods Pro 2.

Went on holidays for a week, when I came back the left one won't work. Is there any way I can bring it back to life without opening them?
