The music at 7:45 sounds like something off of Sesame Street because of the prominent use of Moog synthesizers back in the 70s.
Miss these childhood commercials
Wow
.
0:31 Who put the kick in a young mans stride?
I remember a similar commercial, possibly from around the time of the 1988 Olympics, where the mannequin is above railroad tracks and moving as if it were a train engine locomotive.
Closed Mondays is the first Claymation animated short to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
My first 3 anime ever (that I knew were anime, at least). Oh, god, that's a LOT of nostalgia!
This event on the Sci-Fi Channel changed *EVERYTHING* surely! Robot Carnival, Lensman and Vampire Hunter D had already been released on VHS, but unless you lived near a well-stocked video store, there was no way to know what "adult animation" (as anime/Japanimation was known back then) even was. Outside of Japan this stuff was legitimately Underground in 1993, and everyone who saw these 3 movies and appreciated them was taking part in something truly revolutionary. I feel bad for today's youth because they missed out on experiences like this.
It still hasn't aired the first 3.
1975? Rare
I have an original projection tape of this!! Idk what to do with it……but I have it :)
May The Force Be With You!
0:26 What’s a Star Trek sound effect doing here?
This is the only version I've found on youtube that doesn't censor out the "usual crap" on the announcement board at the beginning. I wonder why they felt the need to censor that?
This is from the Animarathon they used to air right!?
The very first one SciFi did.
ruclips.net/video/kWJwwvfhYJA/видео.html is a much better copy
One minute there’s a Rhodes, next minute there’s nuclear destruction.
These 70s ads were the Gem!!! Wish we had these on TV today
0:30 PROJECT LOOKING GLASS
the first one teh clock, it has same eerie creeky sound scream as the ZELDA 64 temple
this commercial was directed by a sentient bag of cocaine
Loving you always and Forever my sweet George 💖💖🌹🌹🌈
This is beautiful!
This is awesome
Back when Star Wars was great and the Sci-Fi channel was good.
Perfectly said!
wish we can turn back time to the good old days
@@gabeherndon2415 I wish we could find a way to bounce back old satellite feeds from deep space so I can watch old cable again

Autism alert!
So commercial was in an art film, who says art can't also be commercialized?
From Lunch Box episode of Disney Channel
Will Vinton was ahead of his time. This was released in 1975 but Mt. St. Helens didn't erupt until 1981.
There is no other time or decade which produced commercials like this, with this magical quality.
Produced for 7up by Robert Abel in 1975 (a follow-up to his famous "Bubbles" ad of 1974).
Once upon a time commercials were cool and imaginative.
This reminds me of a science project did as a kid about music and it's effects on plants growing: it doesn't help them grow!
It was Produced by Wildbrain!
So I’m 25 yrs old and the first time I saw this was over 15 years ago when my mom bought several old VHSs from a goodwill with random cartoons and films recorded on them. It was one of my absolute favorites, I adore Will Vinton’s work. Truly a talented film maker and artist.
R.I.P Carrie Fisher
The basist hubris and greed perverts the simplest and most genuine of things. That which is so unsustainable gets swallowed up by time to be forgotten..
For some reason we have this on a home video and it always creeped me out as a kid.
Amazing! See...I told you Mt. Rainier was still active!
Rest in piece Will, you were a big inspiration
Just like an acid trip, except without the chromosomal damage!
I remember watching this back then. I was only 10 at the time and had no knowledge of being drunk. I just thought he was an irritable old man.
Rest in Peace, Ken Nordine.
I am confusion.
Oh wow ! The VHS tape that I have says Saturday Anime. But it is still a very lovely anime to watch nowadays especially during the superbowl. This original Vampire Hunter D 1985 anime is much better than the sequel . I miss the good ol SciFi Channel !
The sequel has pretty visuals, but it's garbage, which is especially disappointing because it was directed by the same genius who created Wicked City. 😐👎🏼 Oh how the mighty have fallen!!!
When Stephen Stills, Joan Baez, and Carmine Appice went up on a mountain and ruined it.
Brings back memories.
Man, where was I when they did this?
ForceMaximus84 I don’t know, where were you? lol
Strong neverhood vibes
RIP 🌹
