As a wooden boat builder my guess was possibly Egyptian dow or maybe turkish origin in design. Interesting that this craftsman may be Iranian. Wonderful!

Absolutely stunning work! I once heard an interview with Reinhold Messner, a famous mountaineer and alpinist who spent his life travelling all over the world climbing on the highest mountains and the most difficult summits. He resumed, that the mountain people all around the world show similar and comparable cultures, skills, tools and solutions. Even stories and legends tend to tell the same topics. That resonated in me while watching you building your excellent model. It‘s the same with coast people having adjusted their craftmanship in building sailing ships. We all had to deal with different seas, winds, waves and resources, but came to comparable solutions. So our ships and boats are something like the same word in different languages. A little bit strange, but recognizable. I enjoyed to watch. Thanks a lot from the north sea island of Norderney.

Beautiful work, I only wish the ship's wheel was done w/ turned spindles and sectional rim pieces instead to compliment the rest. Very enjoyable video.
