My easy Salt Water Mixing station. Please check out these awesome guys below. Thomas Brown ruclips.net/user/ThomasVisionReef Reefer Gil ruclips.net/user/ReeferGil
Any issues with any freezing in the winter time with this in the garage?
Nice set up. We'll thought out.
I'm about to do some happy reefing right now, Homeboy!
Awesome video! Do you have a link of the bulkheads that you used? Thanks for posting this video!
don't like the mixing between clean water and dirty water and then going through same pump.
Wish he was still active. I'm making my station right now and want to make it with ability to drain my tank like he did but need help
I'm designing a system with 40 gal norwesco tanks. I had the design pump fresh saltwater to my display 40ft away down the hall. I didnt think about using the same pump to remove the water from the tank. Can u help me further designing that part of it
Can you show how you setup the quick connects? I found it on amazon but what else do i need?
Thanks
Great setup!
Can you post a link for the hose connectors? Also, what kind of hose are you using?
Thank you , this is by far the simplest and the best system I've seen. quick question... you've mentioned dirty water, do you use the same "P" shape to siphon dirty water as well as pump fresh mixed salt?
Nice setup. I would put 2x4 under the top frame and use the wood for support instead of having the nails/screws hold the weight of the top bin.
Hello very happy to try your product! I have heard nothing but great things and have just got to the point to where I needed to start dosing... I started out with the Calcium,Alkalinity, and magnesium..
Nice setup, just wondering are those black rubber hoses reef safe as far as leaching any chemicals back into your system.
Hi Luke, Sorry I never got a notification for your question. Yes these were 100% rubber. I spoke with many reefers who were currently using these hoses. Used them for a long time with LPS and SPS. Never had an issue.
man i really digged your setup! so much so, that i followed your video step by step!Would it be possible to post a video of you doing a water change to see the system in action, and to make sure i did everything right. Thanks...
What brand pump is that ?
Hi Spyder. Sorry I never received an alert for your question. That pump was a no name brand. I recommend something like a blue line with a high head.
what size cam lock fitting and what size is your hose you used to fit the cam lock fitting
Pro setup bro
Best mixing station i've seen yet.
great build..great channel👍 The Dutch Man
hello there Mike how are you doing just when I ask a question I received my one inch cam locks and I need to know what size rubber hose did you use with your one inch cam lock
+Gregg Bell Hi Gregg, I used 5/8 ID hose.
How did you fit the 5/8" hose over a 1" cam lock?
thanks
with the cam lock fitting
what size hour did. you use
+Gregg Bell Hi Gregg. I used 1"
hello there Big Mike how are you doing love your water station when is completed but I have one question for you I order my cam lock fittings and I only received the 2 females so when I order the two males do they need to be the same size as the female which is 1 inch thank you for your video and ideal it made my saltwater changing very easy
+Gregg Bell Hi Gregg. I used the same size fittings for male and female.
great job on this video.. can I ask what glue do you use for all the joints on your pipe work. I've had couple of tanks years ago but now thinking of setting up a sump.
+cockneyb2k I honestly used the normal Oatey primer and cement that you buy at Home Depot or lowes.
oh ok thank you michael.
just would like to know what size holes you drilled in the garbage can and what size are the both heads you are using
+Gregg Bell I think the holes where the pipe enters the can is 1 1/8 and then I used a rubber gasket. Don't hold me to that measurement but its been a while.
Fantastic Video! I am setting up my RO/DI station now and you have made it super simple. Quick Connects are sick!! Thank you for shooting this video and happy reefing.
Hello Big Mike, I was wondering if you could tell us what the brand name of the pump you use in this video. Awesome video and mixing station.
+RoodBwoye II The one I had in the video finally died. Pan world is the one I use now. Its a great pump.
+michael bray Thanks for the response. I was looking at the Pan World. It seems to be the choice of our fellow reefers. I think I will go with the Pan World..
question for you. I'm building a saltwater station in my basement. I'm looking to do a similar setup as this. what kind of pump would you recommend that has enough balls to pump a total distance of about 15' and an elevation of about 15'? my hope is too pump water from the basement straight up into my display. thanks.
+GrueSomeStandard I would definitely get one with a high head. If you want sufficient flow I would go with something that has a 25-30 foot head. I did a lot of testing with different pumps and head height. The pump you saw in the video has a head height of 35 feet. Hope this helps.
It seems like there's a section of your system that is used both for draining dirty water and returning new water from and to the tank. Isn't that going to contaminate the new water that you just mixed? I understand you need to use that same section to prime the plumbing, but it kinda defeats the purpose of having new water? Thanks
Great Video!! I thoroughly enjoyed watching your mixing station tutorial. I'm in NO way a plumber and the sight of all those unions, valves, etc., just kind of makes my head spin. But your system made sense and I like the fix with the quick-connect fittings. Your video is going into my file for my new 75gal set-up. When I get settled I want to set up a 75 3sided system, so I want this done right from the get-go. Keep the videos coming.
+Dave Davis LOL trust me I had no experience either but I sat down with a piece of paper and drew it out. I am not going to tell you about all of the mistakes I made and had to run back to the hardware store to buy more parts. LOL
good
can you tell me the model of the cam lock and hose connector? I tried looking for them on Amazon and cant find them
Hello. Type this in on Amazon "banjo polypropylene" and should pull up all of the fittings and you can pick by your size. Sorry I don't remember the exact model but if you need anything my email is mbray94@yahoo.com.
What kind of rubber hose is that? I couldn't make out what you said. Only some are reef safe right?
This is the premium black garden hose found at Sears in the garden section. It has stainless steel connectors which I cut off to use hose barbs. It is 5/8" diameter. My email is mbray94@yahoo.com If you need any help.
can you post the link for the quick connect ? Thanks
They are made by banjo and are of really high quality. They make many different sizes and types. Here is one of the. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AB5VAYE/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1429629792&sr=8-3&keywords=cam+3%2F4&pi=AC_SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=41KuRdlm1VL&ref=plSrch
Cool, Thanks . Gonna get them and try out . and i need this 1 too right ?/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB5TRJE/ref=gno_cart_title_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Janet Diaz Yes. You need the feamale and the male. They work great. I would double check the description on amazon. Some are with threaded female ends and some are without. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me at mbray94@yahoo.com.
Am lucky enough to have mark as a friend and live in the same city , I use his items . Kalk is my prefer choice and i have had great success with coral coloration and growth !
Caught my attention enough to spend an hour researching. Could be on to something here.
Only Available at a very limited number of places. But his prices on-line seems in line with other Brands..Will check out the specs of the brand i use and Compare. If its that much better how does he do it for the same Price. Very Interesting ....
Very informative. I've never heard of these guys.
***** Their stuff mixes really clean and clear. Bill Wann uses his chemicals for his 20,000 gallon tank. If you dont know Bill Wann check him out. He is a suer nice guy and very particular on what he puts into his tank. I met Mark last year and he has been very passionate about offering super high quality and a good price. And no I do not work for him LOL. I just have personally seen his products and the corals he is growing using these products. If you really think about it, he is right. How many companies will give you a chemical composition sheet and tell you exactly what is in a product.
Nicely done.
Awesome mixing station!
Thanks.
That was awesome! You have to do an actual water change video. Loved the quick connects. I'll share video too.
I sure will.
