The album technically takes place at a party and in some songs she was specific, "So I" about Sophie and her momentary death, "i think about it all the time" about the desire to be a mother but wait for success to happen and she has to decide if she will continue with the idea, "Apple" about her family and the idea of going out at the age of 14 for a ballad, "b2b" is a slang of djs, "talk talk" is about her fiancé George, and the album are questions about identity, belonging and does it majestically

It's kinda interesting how the second half of the album kinda starts at Rewind and then the next songs were her revisiting/rewinding back to her past and her connections like Sophie (So I), this vague relationship with Lorde (Girl, so confusing), her parents (Apple) , her ex (B2B) and herself (Mean Girls). Like i love how she's reclaiming the labels "Brat" and "Mean Girls" because like the song and the album itself, a Brat is not just one thing but a nuanced and multifaceted personality or a person. And once she's all sorted with her past, she's trying to work on her future (I think about it all the time, 365)

club classics is like a litmus test for if the Twink will enjoy the album

Great reaction, though i disagree with what you said about the pacing, and that if the first half of the album could be spread evenly throughout the album it would be better; the way i see it is like a night out in a club curated into an album, starting by getting ready for the club (360), on the way to the club (club classics), and seeing ppl who you don't necessarily want to be around in the club (sympathy is a knife), bailing from the party to give yourself a pep talk in the mirror (i might say something stupid), seeing your crush entering the party (talk talk), etc. As this musical scene thematically progresses, the lyrical content gets increasingly introspective and peels back the brat persona and the cockiness facade layer by layer gradually revealing the vulnerability, up until the most personal lines in "i think about it all the time". For diehard stans it's actually more and more exciting getting to the second part of the album because we're invested enough know about the background stories and references that she's talking about. From a marketing standpoint it also makes sense how the album is paced the way it is. The first part of the album should always be the strongest and most memorable songs while that latter half should leave room for more personal tidbits, not that the latter half is bad, but the first half of the album statistically gets the most streams of the whole album, and imo allowing only one skip on the first half is the best strategy to attract casual listeners who would disengage as soon as they don't enjoy the songs in the album anymore. Same goes for a portfolio, you always put your best work upfront and those who stick to the end are more likely to be a fan. So yeah, this album may seem all over the place at first glance, but a lot of the nuances are intentional and dare i say f*cking genius if ppl dig deep enough

Also sorry to keep commenting lol I just love this album hahaha!! I think the pacing was fine, not perfect but I don’t think it was as bad for me as it was for you. I think the album is supposed to represent the kind of club cycle of like really high highs and really low lows and that’s why it gets a little bit more introspective towards the end before 365 where she’s like “F**k it lets do dr*gs!!!” also you should react to guess ft billie eilish!!

Also girl so confusing is about Lorde! The two have been “frenemies” for years and have always been compared. should listen to the remix! It came out right after the album!!!

So I is really integral to BRAT bc its about SOPHIE (who she mentioned in club classics) Sophie was a producer and she basically pioneered hyperpop and she was charlis friend and she passed away in 2021.
