I loved hearing about your retreat experience! I'm new to x stitch and wont be going to any in person retreats any time soon but I did sign up for a virtual retreat (the jingle ball) to get my feet wet!
@BattleBugCrafts Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it! You don't have to be experienced to attend a retreat. There was someone at the retreat who just started stitching that weekend. I think she was a friend or relative of one of the other attendees. I'm going to attend Jingle Ball for the first time this year, too! Maybe I'll see you there. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. --Deb
I absolutely loved hearing you talk about all the wonderful things from the retreat. The added bling to the showcase design is perfect! Your stirching is amazing. You've done so much this past month! The Santa stocking is beautiful on the fabric. Speaking of fabric, you acquired some gorgeous pieces! Thank you for sharing tips and more; this was so enjoyable.
Thanks so much, Wendy! I had a much better time than I expected, so I guess the enthusiasm came from that surprise. The Santa fabric is the called-for. Only one other person was stitching the same design and she was using aida. It's amazing how differently the linen takes the dye. The color on hers wasn't nearly as deep and dramatic as on mine. Bith the Santa and the Queen of the Night stitched up really quickly. I was surprised I got as much done on them as fast as I did, too. It's fun to have some fabric other than white for a change. I just got a notification that some of the Chatelaine kits I ordered last November are finally arriving on Monday, so I'm trying to finish up Venice Mandala to clear the decks for those. Thanks so much for watching, as always.
You're welcome! Linens do dye darker, which is kind of a bummer when you're wanting an evenweave to stitch on. 😄 The blue is gorgeous, though. I know you've been waiting for those Chatelaine kits. It will be fun to see when you start stitching those.
Hi Deb, your channel logo looks amazing. Your video was fabolous too, thank you for all the hard work.🙂
Thanks so much, Kira! I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
Love your Santa stocking. Can t wait to see what you add to it. Great video!

@HipHop-Stitcher Thank you, Denise! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! --Deb
What an awesome video!! I love your retreat piece and REALLY loved having you there with us!!! ❤❤ Thank you for all of your kind words! ❤
@KitschyWips Thanks, Maggi! It was a great retreat and the Queen of the Night was so much fun to stitch!
Wow - your Queen City piece came out beautifully!! I really expected to stitch the blue colorway, but the more I look at pictures and see people's pieces, I think the red is really starting to call to me. For your stocking, I like the layout of the first piece, but I understand about colors; changes aren't always my strong suit either. Have you seen Liz Matthews new release "To All A Good Night" ? I wonder if that would work? Your idea about some exchange times for the needleminders might be a good idea. I admit I kind of forgot about the exchange; when I was up and moving about, I was very busy talking to folks about what they were working on and such. Delana's planner is stunning! What a fabulous gift! Paper crafting totally intimidates me and I admire folks who do it. I'm so glad I stayed away from the freebie tables! I've seen some fantastic things that people adopted; we're going to be moving in the next year and I'm trying to get my stash to a more reasonable size to pack... my husband has no idea what 35 years of collecting looks like lol. Thank you for the kind words.. I'm so glad you like everything. I had a bit of a fan girl moment when I got to meet you, since I've been avidly watching your videos since I found them. As another blue lover, I admit I waffled just a bit over sending that fat quarter out into the world. I know it found a perfect home! Autumn Lane has me poised to do some Halloween sitching as well; I picked up the chart with the gnomes and I'm seriously thinking about a couple of the witches. (Ok, I know, I should keep thinking about having to pack my stash lol) I think you did a great job talking about this retreat and rereats in general. I hope we get to attend another retreat together at some point; I'd love to share a table and get to chat more! 🪡👠
Hi Paula. Sorry it took a while for me to comment. I wanted to do it at a keyboard instead of on my phone. The red eyes are amazing on the Queen of the Night. I couldn't quit marveling at them while I was stitching her. It almost is more pronounced before you stitch the rest of her hair. Maybe making the blue more blue and less aqua would give her more drama, but again, that requires a color conversion I'm not good at. The Liz Matthews piece is a real contender! Thanks for that suggestion. The planner from @delana.haldy is a real treasure. I'm not a paper crafter either which is why making the flossdrops freaked me out. I didn't really know how I was going to do it until about three days before I left. I had no right being in that freebie pile either, even if I'm not moving. I'm so sorry I didn't show your finished small in person. I had it set aside because I didn't want to damage the dome and I forgot to set in in the pile of things to show while I was filming. I had the same response to meeting you. I love your videos and really love the designs you choose. It was fun to see your beautiful work on the brag table. I still keep thinking about how beautiful the Earth Dancer is. I would definitely love to spend more time together at another retreat. I expect this won't be my last because I had such a good time. Thanks again! Deb
@@thetravelingstockingstitcher I totally agree; I'm much more comfortable typing on my keyboard (so you can tell from the lengthy comment that I watched this episode on my laptop and not my phone). I ordered a piece of the darker fabric from Amy; I don't think the one that I had would work as well with the reds and I'll be doing the red version. I have lots of things the other fabric will work with!
Can't wait to see it!
Haha I love your music choice for this. Very fitting!!! Thanks for sharing- I love a good brag table! -Leah
@@RhubarbPatchStudio Thanks! I was looking for something regal sounding. Brag tables are amazing. Getting to see stuff in person makes such a huge difference.

Is it possible to buy the book somewhere that has all of the Sandy Orton heirloom stockings in it?
Hi Barb! Yes, all the Heirloom Stockings are in a single book. I think it's out of print, but you can find copies on eBay, AbeBooks, Thriftbooks, etc. You should find several if you Google: Better Homes and Gardens Heirloom Cross Stitch Christmas Stocking Book. The current prices online range from about $25.00 (not including shipping) to $160. I tried to find what I paid for mine and where I got it, but wasn't able to find it. I'm guessing I wouldn't have spent more than $25 or $30 for it. Hope you are able to locate it. --Deb

The Capri stitch is definitely one of my favorites - it has such great colors. The Vienna Ballet is beautiful. It would take me ages to stitch that. :D
Thanks! It was your comment about liking the Capri piece that gave me the motivation to keep going on it and getting it done. I thought Vienna Ballet would be a real slog, too, but I'm surprised at how quickly she's processing. Thanks for watching! --Deb
Hope you feel better soon, Deb. I really love that Scotland WIP with the plaid and the thistle. And the Vienna Ballet one is beautiful. What floss are you using for that pretty blue in the gown?
Hi Emjay! I'm still tired, but I am on the mend. I think the colors in the Thistle piece are what attracted me, too. The Vivsters does so much with so few colors. The Vienna dress is just DMC 158, 336, 823, and 939. Thanks for watching! --Deb
Hey Deb! Love your Sorrento finish, the “O”s are a clever touch. Hats off to you for putting together a video while recovering! That was Ireland’s parting gift to us too last year, and it really threw my brain for a loop. I ate nothing but fresh green vegetables, garlic, and lemon juice until my smell and taste came back, and my hubby put up with it because he was lucky enough not to lose his taste and smell. 😂 Well, take good care of yourself, and happy stitching! -Leah
Hi Leah! Thanks! I'm feeling better, but it still took a lot out of me. I don't think the taste and smell thing is a big symptom anymore, but it might have been useful because the Paxalovid gave me a horrible metallic taste. Thanks for watching. I've got one of your videos to get caught up on, so I'll be checking it out soon! Between traveling and being sick, I haven't watched anything for a month. Hope all is well with you! --Deb
Hello Deb, I just suscribed to to your channel. I love how you almost always modify charts and make them your own! Without fail some beautiful Momentos of your travels you have created. I love your stocking and can’t wait to see what you do with the Santa one ❤! I am trying to get my nerve up to FFO one that I finished by Shepherds Bush. It’s just so hard to cut that canvas to sew it into a stocking. 😂I will probably just have to rip off the bandage and just jump in 😂
Thanks, Kathy! Even after all the stocking I've made, I still get that same feeling of dread as I'm about to take a scissors to it to FFO it. The good news is, I haven't had any mishaps yet. Be brave---you can do it!
Capricious 😄 The Sorento stitch looks like a painting! So pretty and the purples in the thistle are so so pretty. Capri turned out great! Get to feeling better!

@@thetravelingstockingstitcher Hi, we visited last summer Crete, Corfu. These summer we visited Rhodes and Zakynthos . We spent 7 days on each one, took trips by buses , boats. They have beautiful beaches, cities, old and new downtowns. They have very good food and friendly people.
Thanks! There are so many places to go in Greece that it seems overwhelming to choose where to go. It's great to get recommendations from someone who has been there.
Hi there! Glad you were up to doing a video. Enjoyed it. Glad you’ve gotten over the awful double-whammy Covid. That was something wasn’t it? Course I think you’re a whiz kid for getting all that stitching done. Especially on black! Haven’t tried that yet. Can’t wait to see the fancy lady done on the Venice project. Have you thought of throwing a little metallic in with swirls as a backstitch here and there on that border? Kind of like a brocade look. Enjoy the heck out of your retreat Deb! Thx for the video!😊
Hi Jannie! I'm still pretty exhausted, but I got through it. Black isn't so bad if you don't do tiny stitches. Good lighting and putting a white towel on your lap helps make it easier to see the holes, too. I really like your idea about the metallics in the border. That might be just what it needs. I'm a little nervous about a retreat, but I'm sure it will be fun. Have you been to one? Thanks for watching! --Deb

I enjoy your videos because it feels like I have taken the trips too. I especially loved this one because I love France. I will be working on Christmas ornaments of the Paris Opera House and the steps of Montmartre for my daughter and her partner since they traveled to France the past two years. Looking forward to your next trip!
@MaryAnnArnold Thanks, MaryAnn. I'd love to know where you got the designs for the French ornaments. I haven't seen those. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! --Deb
@@thetravelingstockingstitcher There are times I cannot find the type of pattern that I am looking for, so I look at photographs online to get an idea of how I could create an easy design that would work as a Christmas ornament. I have found patterns for the Paris Opera House and Montmartre, but nothing I could make a lot smaller because I can't work in anything smaller than 32 ct.
I would love to see your personalized designs. Do you post on Instagram?
@@thetravelingstockingstitcher I occasionally post on Instagram as punkd pumpkin. I gave my designs away as gifts, so I don't have any right now. Welcome Stitchery in Blue Earth is great and some fancy threads from 3 Kittens’ needlepoint dept. they are just across the river from St. Paul, off 35E.
Thanks for the suggestion! We went to Mankato on an overnight trip earlier this year, and I almost tacked on a trip to Blue Earth for just that purpose. Had I known then that Stitchville USA's days were numbered, I might have made it a priority. Thanks! --Deb
Ooh la la! Loved this video, Deb! Love the piece stitched by your mom in the silver frame. And the quilt! What a beautiful, thoughtful gift! ❤ Thanks for sharing all the eye candy and stories! -Leah
Thanks, Leah Noel! I couldn't believe how fortuitous a find that silver frame was just when I pulled that piece out. The quilt is truly a treasured gift. Thanks so much! --Deb
That was a beautiful video. From the Paris views to the quilt to the wonderful stitched pieces. I loved it all!
Thank you so much, Joanne! I'm happy I can share that with you. The quilt is something very special. I appreciate you checking in! --Deb
A fun and informative video. Your finishes are beautiful and the gifted quilt is amazing! 😊
Thank you, Sabrina! Glad you enjoyed it. The quilt really is a treasured object. I appreciate you stopping by again to watch! --Deb
Wow! You powered through your tile and Paris designs! The quilt given to you is spectacular! What a lovely neighbor! Your title is nothing less than expected from you 😄 so clever. The arches inside one of the cathedrals you showed are amazing! I'm sure they'd have remarkable detailed paintwork if inspected closer. Also interesting about the Eiffel Tower being repainted every so many years and so many gallons of paint! It's too bad that flag isn't France's flag after the work put into it. Always interesting and fun! Thank you!
Thanks so much, Wendy! After all the painting you've done lately between your kitchen and craft items, you should be ready to go paint Gothic cathedrals all over Europe! The quilt really is an amazing treasure. Thanks again!
wow! so many beautiful designs! I was especially interested in the stained glass temperature design. I might have to do that one. I haven't done a temperature design for a couple of years. What a beautiful quilt and what an amazing gift.
Thanks, Emjay! I really wished I could have found stitched examples of those ExLibrist designs. They are stunning in comparison to the mockups. The quilt really is a treasured gift. Thanks for checking in! --Deb
Beautiful stitches & always interesting. Thank you 👋🏽
Thank you so much! --Deb
Loved your video. The quilt that was gifted to you is truly a work of art..just beautiful❤. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Felicia! The quilt really is a treasure. Thanks for watching and commenting! --Deb
I knew you’d have some fantastic pictures to share and equally beautiful stitching related to it! Thank you for sharing!! ❤
Thank you, Sarah!
Well, trying to catch up on my flosstubes. When the weather is nice I'm outside trying to catch up on my weeds! 🙄 I have truly enjoyed your last several videos. I didn't know how Quasimoto got his name; that's cool! Love your stitching and how fun to design travel posters!! And, I think we talked before about Capri---'maybe using half stitches will make that sand section go away quicker! 🙂 I am.looking forward to your next video.
Hi Beth! Sorry this reply is so late. I apparently overlooked responding to some comments. I'm the same way with getting behind on watching flosstube or any TV in the summer. It goes by much too quickly in Minnesota, although I can't say it's weeding that keeps me occupied. 🤣 I'm just about to pick up the Capri WIP again, so thanks for the suggestion! --Deb
Hi there: magnolia Nana recommended your channel so here I am. Loved your first video. Now on to the others❤❤
Hi Cindy! I'm so sorry I didn't respond to your comment sooner. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Also, thanks for letting me know Magnolia Nana recommended my channel. Glad you enjoyed it. --Deb
Lots of beautiful stitches. Think the Capri is my favorite. Thanks for sharing all the fun travel stuff!
Hi! Thanks for watching and commenting. Sorry it took me so long to reply to your comment. I wanted to keep it available as a reminder to watch your channel, but getting around to watching flosstube or any TV in the summer is a challenge. I did get a chance to catch one of your videos, and really enjoyed it. I've subscribed, so I'll be back for more when the weather starts to turn. Thanks again. --Deb
@@thetravelingstockingstitcher Thank you so much! It is hard to keep up with everyone. I can't comment on my phone so sometimes it takes me a few days to reply. We're definitely ready for cooler weather! Happy stitching!
Very nice stitching, beautiful pictures and interesting end enjoyable update. Thank you!
@@judith8951 Thanks, Judith!
Prague is my favorite European city! It's such a special place! Second spot goes to Edinburgh. Glad you had a wonderful trip!
@globetrottingstitcher Thanks, Amy! Prague really is a beautiful place. I haven't been to Scotland, but it's far up my list. Glad to hear your endorsement of it. Thanks for watching! --Deb
Fascinating as always, Deb.
@@emjaymckarney7972 Why, thank you as always, Emjay!
The lemon stitch is beautiful, I like it and Limoncello😉
@charj57 Thanks, Char! I may have filmed a take or two more than necessary of the Lemoncello segment, just to make sure.
This was such an interesting update! I love getting to see your travel photos and hear the thoughts behind what you choose to stitch. I’ve always loved Kooler Designs’ collection of food designs but I have no personal connection to them yet. I’d love to see you stitch one, especially the olives. Those hanks are an interesting find… Now you will have to find a Long Dog or Modern Folk Embroidery (or two+) you’d like to stitch. Or make lots of friendship bracelets. 😅 -Leah
@RhubarbPatchStudio Thanks! I hadn't thought about a Long Dog. My backup plan was going to be to live forever because that's how long it would take to use them all up. 😆
That was so interesting! And colourful! Now I really want to go to Italy!
@joanneneufeld8212 Thanks, Joanne! Italy is amazing. I've been twice, once to northern Italy and once to the south, and would do it all over again in an instant. It really is the most beautiful country I've visited. I highly recommend it. --Deb
The cover shot of your show (scurvy) 😂You're really far along on your Venetian mandala. It's so pretty! Your mention of the Pompeii mandala has prompted me to look at it more closely. Pompeii and Herculeaneum have fascinated me since I first heard of them in my childhood and are a bucket list thing. The lemons are sooo pretty and I love your lemon top or dress, too! Yellow is gorgeous with blue. Congratulations on your finish! As you mentioned with picking up a project after being away from it for a long while does take a bit to figure where to pick up again. Thanks for sharing all the travel tidbits and photos. As always, so fun and interesting!
@@WendysWhimsicalStitches Thanks, Wendy! RUclips now gives you the opportunity to upload three thumbnails, and you can compare how they do, so not everybody will see the scurvy one. I really do want to get Venice done because one of these years the others I've ordered (Blue Moroccan Lace, Lake Como, Paris and Tuscana Mandalas) will show up and I'll be way behind. The Pompeji (that's how Martina spelled it) has such rich colors and deep reds. Thanks as always!
@@thetravelingstockingstitcherIt's too bad that the Glorianas are taking so long to get in. The last Chat I had ordered was Black Swan and it did take about a year for shipment. I forgot to comment that limoncello is divine! My favorite! I could drink the whole bottle. 😂 Also, those huge skeins/ balls of DMC are insane! Have a great weekend!
@@WendysWhimsicalStitches Yeah, I may have done a few takes more of me drinking lemoncello than was absolutely necessary. 🤪
Love that lemon piece you did. And your Chatelaine. Gearing up for it trip. Thx for the fun facts and video. Cheers!
Thanks! I bet you're getting excited for your trip! Have wonderful time! --Deb
