Johnson, IN Tornado Intercept 7-9-2024
Chased the remnants of Beryl as they made their way to Indiana. I found myself on a winding, tree-lined road in The Bear's Cage, about a quarter to a half-mile from a tornado near Johnson, IN. I've always liked to get close, but it's a bit different when you're in the woods without the visibility of the gridded roads in open farmland. Definitely one of the scarier intercepts, especially since it was the first chase in my new RAV4. I haven't installed all my gear, so I was flying solo with only one camera and a couple phones. Helluva first chase for the RAV, can't wait to go again once I have my more professional setup again.

May 1st, 2018 storm chase through north-central Kansas. We started near Paradise, and ended up on Hwy 24 heading back into Manhattan for the night. The storm was the Glasco/Aurora supercell which spawned two tornadoes during the course of its life, an EF-1 and an EF-0. The portion of the video where the view is obstructed by rain was when the EF-0 dissipated almost directly above us and we had ...

Here is a portion of our storm chase on 5/1/2018 between Luray and Lucas, KS, taken from the rear camera and compressed to a two minute clip. This storm would go on to produce an EF-1 tornado near Glasco, KS, and an EF-0 tornado near Aurora, KS (Which dissipated almost directly over us on a muddy road NE of Aurora)

Weak, severe warned supercell at the OH/IN border, just north of SR122. This storm showed wide rotation, and prior to this video it had a more defined wall cloud. However, there was very little inflow. There was another cell to its northeast and both cells at one point had simultaneous severe thunderstorm warnings. By the time this video was shot, the other cell had already begun to dissipate. ...
